Brand New Christmas Poem

The night before Christmas the moon glowed bright 
Children were caroling all through the night 
The elves were still working; making some toys 
For Santa to bring, to good girls and boys 

The clouds drifted slowly, so way up high
Dropping their snowflakes- that whitened the sky 
The world seemed quite quiet, silence in air 
Then, the wind whispered soft into my ear... 

Tomorrow is Christmas- ready or not 
Remind the people, what some have forgot 
Christmas is when Jesus was born this day
It's not just 'bout Santa- riding his sleigh 

And tell them the best gift to give is- "love" 
A whispered note, from the man up above

Years ago when I was in my 20's the whole congregation at Catholic mass sang Happy birthday softly at the end of the service. It sounds inappropriate somehow, but it was wonderful. I feel your last stanza and your last 2 lines, would make a sought after Christmas card. Charles Messina December 9, 2023 at 3:18 AM Christmas is by far my favorite holiday. The Christmas spirit that surrounds, the lights, the songs, everything that goes with it...my mom a born Jew converted to Catholicism when she married my dad. Funny, my live-in girlfriend of the past 10 years, a born catholic who converted to Jewish when she married her ex (lol). Have a great holiday season, Marikate...hugs Charlie :)
