Christmas Greetings

No manger scene at city hall
or caroling at school,
no city workers stringing lights,
come on, you know the rule.

No pageants of the savior’s birth,
we wish not to offend.
No prayers of thanks made publicly,
these laws we mustn’t bend.

No decorated Christmas tree
with ornaments all shiny
to be displayed on public land
or the ACLU gets whiny.

But Merry Christmas anyway
with joy to last the season,
just be careful what you say
and now you know the reason.

i love your poem, John, because you speak the truth. That's why I look up to the Lord in these perilous times. As you also obviously know, He IS Truth Incarnate.

Thanks for reading Arlene. Keep looking up because there is no way we can clean up this mess by ourselves. John

In Acts 4, Peter and John are hauled in front of the council for preaching Christ. But [they] answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” Seems like a good model :-)

Your scriptural quote is a good model. I believe a time is coming when Christians will become more aware of the implications of Peter’s words. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. John

It's a shame it's come to that John I was discussing Christmas with a Muslim colleague and asked does our celebration of christmas offend you in any way? Of course not he answered, you have your celebrations and we have ours, why would it offend us.? I even had a Christmas card from him. So the big question is who is offended, I'd love to know. Merry Christmas. Tom

Who indeed. But what’s to do. Your colleague seems to have it together. Thank you for reading and have a Merry Christmas. John
