Premium Member chipmunk soup is a delight

creamy chipmunk soup is a delight
the buttery taste is out of sight
It’s best eaten in the pale moonlight
stated a customer, named McMite

salty chipmunk soup is a delight
don’t let the floating hairs give you a fright
They tickle your throat both day and night
Oh yes, this wonderful soup is out-of-sight

I love to tease and tear around your yard,
while happily chattering and chirping away.
I enjoy searching for acorns and other nuts,
and stuffing my cheeks full while I run and play.

I sometimes find a rare delicacy in your yard,
yummy tulip bulbs and fresh ornamental flowers.
I recently ate your huge orange hibiscus bloom,
and hope you add more, as your garden has room.

I have several shared living dens in your backyard,
and my family loves the perennial garden the best.
We love to hide among the decorative gnomes,
while chirping and teasing your huge dog on guard.

I love to tease the neighbor’s cat, chirping when he appears,
and laughing at him, as I safely scurry back under your fence.
I continue keeping busy visiting your feeders to steal seeds,
feasting and storing while preparing for my winter needs.

The Return Gift - Nursery Rhyme

Chinnu, the chipmunk got a gift, a corn,
from her best friend, Hugo, the hippo.
She planned to eat the tasty corn soon,
and meet Hugo the next afternoon
to give him a large pear that she’d stored
in her burrow near the neem tree.

An idea sparked in Chinnu’s brain then.
She thought, ‘Why can’t I give Hugo right now
his return gift?’ - but did not know how.
It was late evening and getting dark,
still, she hurried and leapt across the park
and looked for Hugo here and there.
Nowhere to find him, she felt very sad
and sat near the swamp, feeling so bad.
“Hello my friend”, there came a voice
from behind. Chinnu turned back to find
her friend right there and felt so glad.
She gave the pear to Hugo, the hippo.
He gulped it at once and said with a smile
“what a yummy treat I got to eat!”

Premium Member Chipmunk Poses For a Pix

chipmunk pauses under blossoms of spring
pondering her future?
anticipating an enemy?
planning her trousseau?
expecting a model’s fee?
No matter.

She is captured in time, by the whir of a button.
Saved and uploaded onto a computer.
A memory caught in mid step.
I smile as she fills my screen.
My new screen saver.
My favorite photo of the week.
Maybe of the month.

A Chipmunk Named Georgie Mcgee

He owned a pet chipmunk named Georgie McGee
who loved to eat almonds while counting to three
little by little he inched his way in
nuzzling sweetly right up to Quinn
who never thought squirrels could live duty free

He ravaged tomatoes and ate little leaves
while Quinnie reviewed every pet peeve
he dug up the flowers
and never did shower
as he squabbled and quabbled without a reprieve

He never did shoe him nor send him away
for happy go lucky would eat then make way
he ate from his finger
but never did linger
how old he was? well, he never did say !

Chipmunk Island

A chipmunk chases another,
who somehow vice-versas the first,
One chipmunk pops out of a hole,
and hops across the lawn,
and stops upon the wall,
and rests upon its haunches,
to chew up a maple seed,
One jumps up a rohodendron’s wiry arms,
and scrambles to get lost among the leaves,
Piercing with a peep somewhere deeper in the woods,
Does The Tall look down at a fighting-to-rat-race us like it's cute little chippering play?

Chipmunk

A ping of appearance,
while the world skids on.

I expect Wiley Coyote to turn up,
but it is only chipmunk,
a little mousy hot-rod, tuned-up
to outrun perception.

Yours is the trembling electric instant;
truly you are a light unto yourself.
Murine wisp with whiskers,
always thrilled by your own survival.

The dead-stop of your arrival,
blurs my ken, then you are gone
while I wallow in an after-image.

You and your speed affirming
racing-stripes, always aquiver
to dart away.
Run tiny animation of the wind, run!

Tiny chipmunks play; chasing all day
One another through my gutters.
Fur balls of joy, Chip and Dale;
Melting my heart and soul;
Is a chipmunk’s goal.
They feel my joy;
Elation;
When they
Play.

Premium Member A Warm Start To a Cool Day

The chipmunk bares her teeth, not in anger, but in fun, and to scare her enemy.
I meander a bit to the left,
letting the cool grass push me along,
and then I shoot off with a bit of sass,

Intimidated, but not daring to show how much.
I do not take a backwards glance.

Chipmunk one, garter snake zero,
but it is a cool, pretty day, and I do not care as I slither to
                                the wetness of my marsh.

Chip and Dale live on in every chipmunk.
My gutters are a playground;
My camera delights.
