The Cat Waits

By the light of the moon
The cat waits until dark
To catch his small prey
Maybe a chipmunk or lark.

Premium Member Kittens

Catatonic kittens
All squirelly in mind
Run like the chipmunk
And stumble like a pup
Brose through my musings
A bird on my mind

A Chipmunk

A Chipmunk

Alvin the chipmunk
Dressed like a rock punk
Got not

Sure smelled like a skunk

The
Chipmunk
Chirps loudly
Scurries about
Across the stone wall
Chasing others
Playful ways
Hide and
Seek

Small Love~An Ocean

to gain trust
of a wild heart
even so small
as a Chipmunk
a grace
a benison
bestowed by the goddess
who took pity
upon this fools soul.

Walking amidst latent Christmas —
path of pines
with diverse needles,
in the Summer-soaked sun.
A chipmunk nestled in its soft branch

Premium Member Catnip For Sale

Catnip for sale by the sprinkle or the slice.
After you have it you’ll easily catch mice.
Did not know which, so I tossed some dice.
Dead chipmunk in my mouth, so wasn’t that nice?

Premium Member When the Chips are Down

The Angry Little Chipmunk spotted his prey...

He moved into position, ready to Pounce!

But a Rabid Squirrel, took his nuts for a whirl...

No Way! Each day I'm getting thinner by the Ounce!

      a prominent squirrel
       once eschewed a gift
         from a poor chipmunk

      meeting again at heaven’s gate
        the chipmunk, once eschewed
          was let right through

Premium Member Sharing the Umbrella

Sharing the umbrella is easy for the chipmunk couple today.
The rain is greeted by bluebells yelling “hip hip hooray!”
The buttercups are saying “can’t you rain a bit slower?”
But everyone is excited, for the meadow is glowing with clover.

Unaligned Morning Devotions

None sweeter, smiling;
Opes, daisied, wide.
Nor for these, too sought
In the chipmunk
Has shot up their peer
Curious-eyed.

Love's blaze fans out.
Of dawn what's lit.
She, girly-twirly
Stemmed, leans that way.
Tree, its bird feeder
He, opposite!

In a Hurry

Chipmunks scamper, dash and scurry,
Creatures always in a hurry.
If they'd learn to just relax
They'd bypass chipmunk heart attacks.

But type-A humans can relate;
We have to move and hate to wait.
Let others plod and take it slow;
Like chipmunks, we must go-go-go!

Small Chirping Thing

Some small thing was chirping
behind the washing machine.

Go look I told her
is it a bird or a chipmunk?

“You go look!” She said.
I did not want to go.
I didn’t go.

After a while, the chirping stopped.
I didn’t do anything

This morning I watch TV.
Drink coffee,

Premium Member The Nest

Have you heard
	about the bird
Who built a nest
	with zeal and zest?

With zeal and zest
	with string and straw
It was the best nest
	you ever saw.

She took her time
	and smoothed out the creases
Then out jumped a chipmunk
	who tore it to pieces.

To the Chipmunk In the Garden

I will not beseech you
stop stuffing yourself near to exploding
even though I feel a need to
take the sunflowers, blossoms eroding
heads bowed in solemn, silent foreboding
save the seeds
ignore the needs
of one so wild
and bold as he feeds
to allay the memory of freeze on this August day so mild
