Always so polished,
but emotions need to be raw;
Covered and stained with blood
drained all over the paper;
Everything becomes transparent
forming the pauses and lines;
Governed by larger than life
hoping for one graceful phrase;
‘I am interested in poetry.’ you say
just as I turn away;
Knife wielded but simple bounces
laughing as I fall inspired;
Maddening so please just go;
Never mind the sparks you left
on the crevices of my skin;
Pretend the illusions I lean on are real,
quiet me in the loudest moments;
Remedy me instead of this torment!
So I try, I say goodbye to you
today but you’re back again tomorrow;
Under my skin feeding my soul
vessel you have apparently hijacked;
When will it end?
X should be drawn or a check mark,
you just keep on writing all over me;
Zephyr of the Muse you’re out of control.
Brush off today for no real reason or rhyme
and return to one special point in time.
Reliving my senior year, life at its prime,
Planning for college, an auspicious climb;
The focus had changed from my family to peers.
Now recalling classmates, not seen in years
awakens my heart and brings a few tears.
Knowledge "gained", we were Pilgrim pioneers.
While true wisdom was often underplayed,
ev'ry new conquest was a check mark made
to ready us for adulthood's upgrade.
Ready to conquer the world, or so we thought.
from seventeen to seventy; I've been overwrought
but still learning to learn; life was not for naught.
Return to the present for real reason and rhyme
evaluate today as a special point in time.
Appreciate each moment, collect thoughts sublime.
In fifty more years, in our memories may they chime.

The world has woken up from slumber spring,
dogs barking, crickets chirping and birds sing,
from early morning to late eve the sun is shining,
and every cloud has a gorgeous silver lining.
Expressive hues of blues paint the sky,
welcoming the wildlife and hearts to fly.
Why do I refuse from this computer chair,
when my body longs for the life out there?
Addicted to these words and wins, I know
if there be a battle, it is I that must show.
A contest, a competition, I crave the glory,
a check mark win to be included in my story.
Looking out the window, I see inspiration bloom,
putting it into poetic lines from my bedroom.
Forming the right flow to take me to top prize,
the computer screen glows before my eyes.
Just a minute, just a minute, I can stop I say.
Maybe before the night, I can enjoy the day.
Check the winners status, may I boast?
Oh look.... another new contest to enter post!
Contest! We don't need no stinkin' contest.
I've already proved I'm the fastest pen in the west.

I've made my final bucket list
A wish to return such a beautiful gift
The gift to return a life for a life
For the one who supplied me, their blood sacrifice
Surgery required blood to keep me alive
Donated by a stranger so I could survive
I hope the check mark there on my donor card
Keeps a very special angel on guard
For a special someone who needs a good heart
To feel love and give their life a new start
Maybe a kidney to a child in wait
Run and play, grow up and date
I'd like someone to use my green eyes to see
How we are surrounded by God's beauty
My bucket list might happen after my death
But I'll know it's started with my last breath
If not for a stranger
My life would already be over

You’re much too proud to answer
Don’t want to appear too keen
But every single message sent
Has a check mark…meaning “seen”!
Won’t start up conversations
You won’t ask me how I’ve been
You keep it all under wraps
But my messages are…..”seen”!
You won’t come out and say it
But I know you’ve checked the screen
You answer what’s in my eyes
For my messages you’ve “seen”!
Sometimes I get so angry
I resolve myself to wean
From writing all my feelings…
But then the message comes…”seen”!
And so I keep on writing
Though you TRY to act so mean
At the end of every day
All my messages are…..”seen”!
