Canadian geese
the cumulus cloud cutouts...
honk for me to see

Tourtiere - Canadian Meat Pies

Tourtière, Canadian—
beef and pork browned well.
Mom always added breadcrumbs,
onions, celery,
and mashed potatoes,
spice blend too—
yum.

We Are One

Red and white glory freely flies
Mapleleaf, strong and proud, framed by bright blue skies
From glacier fjord to mountain stream
Over fields of gold and trees of green
Nothing is more beautiful to see
Than that red maple leaf flying free

The simple flag is our greatest treasure,
Heralding a nation beyond measure
There is nothing I would rather be
than an honored

I love my Canada and I am proud to be a Canadian
and share this county with the Aboriginals, French, English
Irish and many other nationalities that create
the intricate tapestry of Canada
a vast rugged beautiful land with wonderful amazing wildlife
a rich varied country with cosmopolitian cities
snow-capped majestic mountains, valleys, boreal

Canadian Dumpster Fire - POTD

So, Justin Trudeau's gonna retire
(something Canadians did desire). 
But he's left a big mess,
and Trump's causing stress!
It's a political dumpster fire!

A sprite little pixie from Guelph
has made quite a name for herself.
She took a long stroll
up to the North Pole.
Now she's Santa's Canadian elf.

Canadian warrior
Is fighting over seas
In that brutal war
That will never end

Is throwing grenades
To their next door people
Yes they have killed
Already lots of people
Yes the Canadian warriors
Will never return home again
They are the ones who sacrificed

So that we could have peace

Flock Plus One
Crouching among a gaggle of
dabbling Canadian geese,
a brown skinned child pushes back
long black hair,
intent on building a tidal pool
of which he can be King.
Extending a ridiculously long neck,
a goose wades gingerly into the water,
snapping his wings forward in a fluster,
indignant with the cold.
Another approaches the boy curiously,
black eyes assessing the construction;
haughtily disinterested, it continues

Who's Calling

The doorbell rings
It's you, so "Hi"
My friend I love
To pass time by..

We sit and chat
I realize
I'm lost in wonder
You hypnotize

Friends can be
Not judging or cruel
We rant but sometimes then -
Laugh like fools

We disagree
And moan a bit
But that's the fun of chat - 
And chit

I'm glad we hug 
To say goodbye
So happy to be myself
And never

Canadian Autumn

Forests of old and new growth in constant turmoil
Are held upright by root systems filtering the soil.
Trees and saplings stretch upward in the wilderness
To absorb the sun’s rays for photosynthesis.

Stands of coniferous and deciduous trees
(Bearing green needles, and red, yellow, and orange leaves)
Bent by capricious winds, resiliently snap back straight,
And march down slopes to

My path is icy
But love has melted away
And my feet surely
Tread on the firm route
That is lined with
Deep friendship
Deeper even than 
The cold Winter
That Jack Frost has
Clamped around my house
I felt trapped 
But kindness
Gentleness
Inexplicable love
Has made a path to freedom 
This path I am brave enough 
To adventure along

Wild Geese At Dawn

Canadian Geese flying south
and trucks on the highway
jostle for space
in my ears.

The trucks remind me of where I am
in time and place,
while the geese remind me of a lifetime
of here and nows
present, with the wonder
of simply being.

The geese moving with the seasons,
following shifting pathways
of water and crops,
honk as they go;
“Here we are, here we go!
