Roof and moon

Roof and the moon in a deep chatting session

Bare tree filling with the flood of jasmine

Clouds joining from Mesopotamian rivers

Two horses attempting to break loose

Premium MemberSleepless moonlit nights

Early to bed, early to rise,
makes you healthy, wealthy and wise.
Followed the age old saying,
Can't figure out why I am still awake on this moonlit night.

Under a moonlit starry sky spreading its silvery covers,
I might fall asleep instantly embedded in its soothing spell,
The train of thoughts going through my mind,
Might stop to appreciate the beauty of such a night.

I may wander in the meadows in the night,
The deer and fawns may come across to meet me,
While they would wonder about my troubled mind,
I would adore their beauty and forget all my woes.

The insomniac mind overwhelmed with streaming hopes and dreams,
Might ruminate to see the end of the shooting star,
The stars wandering for centuries in the distant galaxies,
Break loose, shine and glitter in the sky,

Overwhelmed Avalanches of Doubt

So many ways to say one thing
More than one way to turn pawn to king
Too many turns to the grocery store
Which turn shall I take?

Countless words to choose from
From sunrise to sunset
Too many ends to be met
With no end

So many ways to say one thing

How will I say this?

The paralysis of perfection pours
A whisper at first
Drown out by the delusion of desirability
Preserved in acid proclamations of praise
Beating echoes in snowy peaks
Peaking in phrases veiled in value
Pouring
Heavy
 Heavy
  Heavy
On the mountaintop
  Failure
 Failure
Failure
One weakened layer causing seismic shifts
Elephant echoes fragmenting snowy ideals
Triggering avalanches of lost identity
Slabs of fallen promises break loose
Forming a track of forbidden truth
Too much weight bids perilous
Useless words of compliment
Descend to a suffocating
Ignominious demise
Plagued by tiny
Thoughts of
Fading

Premium MemberKing Solomon and I will Fly a kite today

King Solomon and I will fly a kite
On this historical Good Friday,
we seek justice for the young lady
Her father made her act as if she were his niece.
To deceive his new wife, so that she could live with them
His wife found out about the plot and hell would break loose.
On social media, who is in fault,
The father or the new wife,
for sure not the innocent child
A lie can bring down an empire, a lie can be engraved in history
Chioma, Chioma, anger are secondary emotions
Would love and devotion once again intertwined?
As the wise King stood beside my fingertips today

Just prayer, for kindness and forgiveness
Love conquerors all, love can lead to forgiveness,
Acid corrodes a tongue that speaks falsely
Will one day become un-Godly?
We will hold on to this kite before we release it
Time will tell in ten years,
While the innocent will endure the most suffering. (Amen)
All children should reside under their father’s roof
According to the biblical time:
Blood is thicker than water,
Acid corrodes a tongue that speaks falsely
Will one day become un-godly.

As one more year is fading out and time swiftly flies like a speeding bird, I wish all my friends a New Year of Health, Happiness and all blessings of God!

As the midnight bells sweetly chime,
Our hearts leap and sing in joyous rhyme.
The Year 2025, like a sweet babe is born,
Exhorting each one of us to be reborn.

Sad and sweet memories of the past linger
Many have lost their dear lives, last year
Thoughts of them make our eyes moist with tear
Thank God for granting us yet another year!

Break loose n’ cast aside all binding ropes
Embrace the new dawn with fresh hopes
Look to the East and see the glow of light
Let sun’s golden beams swipe away the night.

Today’s dawn fills us all with gladness
Scrubbing away every trace of sadness
Let new resolutions dance in hopeful eyes,
Like fireworks that ignite the darkened skies.

May fanciful dreams sprout and swell in every heart
Spread wings wide and into sky like an eagle dart.
May the New Year fill you with lots of cheer
And grant you with everything, you hold dear!

Premium MemberGift of Recovery

A black cloud envelops my sky
Threatening to rain down a torrent of pain
Oceans of commotion swirl in my brain
And I try to bandage the wounds in vain

I see only the receding vistas of light
And night prowling like a stealthy thief
The past chills the mind like hanging icicles
And I feel so heavy with frozen grief

I inch my way up like an ugly snail
My life is riddled with contradictions
Oh, I am waylaid, lost and beaten
From every corner, I meet only oppositions

Yet dreams break forth in my heart
Amidst darkness shines a light
A call to spirit to seek the gift of recovery
Transforming pain into strength and delight

I must break loose of all the tethers
Let my soul embrace all that is dear
From this cage, I must fly out
The sky beyond me lies blue and clear!

Even at moments when we feel,
God has forsaken us, time assures;
However bad things are, recovery is possible,
When God is there quelling all our fears.

Now I am on a journey of redemption
I tell myself- “Come out from this hell
Just start anew, nothing is beyond recovery
The dawn is near and all shall be well”

Ashen day turns into blackened night. One
limb of a lonely tree stripped of its
pre-fall leaves juts out against the
backdrop of an inked sky scraped
with gray. Dark clouds enfold
the full white moon, who
cannot break loose
from these strange
small hours’
grasp.

Seven Ten

SEVEN TEN

Ten past seven this evening
All hell is due to break loose
I have much to tell you when you get home
I’d rather not say anything for now
Face to face is the appropriate way
It was a surprise for me
I did not expect it now
When almost everything can quickly change
Well, we all live in interesting times
For some, is interpreted as a curse
I don’t think you’d ever guess
The heavy weight that I bear
You’ll try and work it out all day, I know
With your imagination running wild
Hoping for better, but prepared for worse
So for now, get through the day
They’ll all see doubt in your eyes
But you might just welcome knowing it all
Some you may have suspected all along
Maybe joy and pain in equal measure
And I hope you’ll understand
When I show you the letter

Premium MemberThe Watchers

They guess that I'm unaware.
But I realize who's lurking there.
Watching every move I dare,
Breathing with each breath I bear.

The apples from the tree do tell,
As they rot where they fell.
The footsteps in the night do creak.
As they wander where I sleep.

I feel the eyes upon my back.
As I walk along the track.
The hairs on my neck stand tall,
As I hear the whispered call.

But who is this that follows me?
A friend or foe, I cannot foresee.
Their presence brings both fear and dread.
As I lie awake in bed.

So I will wait and watch with care.
And grasp the comments they may bear.
In the finale, I'll realize the truth.
And find the courage to break loose.

Premium MemberCaught In a Web

I can reach you by quick email, downright,
Can text you in the middle of the night.

I can call wherever you're on the map,
Given WiFi is on and What’s Up app.

Social media plays rewarding roles,
As a fake façade for the seeking souls.

As soon as I exit the Facebook page,
I'm a lone actor on an empty stage.

Virtual vortex, an illusive trick -
There is no escape with a button click.

PC consumed our consenting mindset,
Captured and trapped in online phishing net.

Shall we ever break loose, lively and free
From contagious web of digital spree?!

Let’s turn gadgets off and learn again how
To connect and to listen - here and now.

I'd trade distant chats between you and me -
To get together for a cup of tea.

"I carry your heart with me(I carry it in my heart)I am never without it.
                        Quote _ by E.E. Cummings

Lovely Lottie, you were my heart and life
Living to make mischief never complied
Antics so constant she enjoyed the strife
Jack Russell terrier puffed up with pride.

Postman received a particular bark
Then quiet until those letters did drop
All hell would break loose the dog went berserk
Mail ripped to shreds until frenzy did stop.

Sneaking upstairs she would jump onto bed
Brown eyes shone with most sincere pleading look
In truth, no problem she slept like the dead
Smiling I settled with favourite book

So many years and such a faithful friend
Heartbreak so painful when her life did end.

In His Footsteps

No other would be my hero,
No other valiant combatant I have seen,
He gave all up until zero.

On his premise, I’d rather lean,
Imbibe his bravery and courage,
Fight every opposition until I win.

Wage against every tempestuous rage,
Disperse the midnight fog,
Break loose from fear’s cage.

Freed my wheel from its cog,
Wield my sword against the assailant,
Push all down the hill like a log.

Persevere until I've warded off the pursuant.

Undesired

The feelings,
They hold the forte,
The feelings,
They come out of the chambers,
The feelings,
They're like a tempestuous sea,
He fights to put them under,
They sneak out and trouble him sore,
He wrestles to lock them up,
They break loose and perplex him,
Phantom beings reside in him,
Two sides in one,
Strange thoughts contest to take the wheels,
They shapeshift and metamorphose,
He seeks a way out of the jungle,
He steers his ship to come to land,
The mystery behind walls,
The human curse.

He wears a ragged hounds tooth hat;
He hasn’t seen a blade in years.
A worn and tattered photograph
Records her on that fateful day.
They took it at the five and dime,
Then shared some rhubarb a la mode.

The metal seal would not break loose;
The bottle held between his legs,
He fumbled, grabbed it with both hands;
He lost control and hopped the curb,
drove through the glass and never slowed.

And so he keeps the photograph
The papers ran the day they died.
Her image haunts his dreams at night;
He cannot keep her screams at bay.

Some fifteen years behind steel bars,
Another ten beneath the bridge,
He knows he can't go on this way.

Resolved, his mind and eyes are clear;
He’s entering rehab today.

Ma Jebeh's Children

Ma Jebeh's Children

They sit to Redlight, Waterside and Omega,
Selling fufu, cornflakes and meat pie,
Sometimes even crayfish and chicken thighs,
In muddy waters and messy trousers.

They have a great dream,
But their eyes are being shut from every little gleams,
They have told that putting Bible in your pocket,
Is that what you were sent for.

When one gets a chance to the Mansion,
Well he's told that the others are not his blood,
But Ma Jebeh's Children will soon break loose,
From the oppressor.

The ones who seem discerned minded,
These the oppressor kills with pleasure,
Take their wealth and make it his treasure.
