Culpable

Written for Ink Empress' 'Unwritten Absence' Poetry Contest.

C(ulpa)ble

Your unwritten absence unravelled much
Disrobing piteously your impure intent
Starkly exposing a ravaged soul as such

Cocooned in dark yarns of deceit, I lay spent
In golden gilded cage tarnishing from neglect
Plated with cosmetic veneer for society's consent

Yet, you were oblivious to the storm brewing, most perfect
Bidding the right time to sound its thunderous dissent
NEGLECT, tacitly accepted afore, HENCEFORTH NEVER GOES UNCHECKED!

Premium Member Le Yon Fanm Renmen Ou

Lè yon fanm renmen ou
Ou pa ka fè anyen mal
Ou ka chame li ak yon ti chanson
Nan men ou, li pa bezwen anpil.

Lè yon fanm renmen ou
Mond lan sanble li trè bèl
Tout bagay anfò, an pinpan
Lè yon fanm adore ou.

Se tout ane a ki printan
Ti zwazo yo ap repoze e yap chante
Timoun yo ap jwe e yap ri
Gen anpil bonè ak kè kontan.

Lè ou voye flè pou li
Lè ou bay li bèl bijou
Li bo ou tankou yon ti bebe
E li ba ou akolad pou tout yon ane.

Lè yon fanm renmen ou
Ou santi ou ekstrèmman byen
Kay la gen anpil, yon dividal manje
Paske li bay ase pou vant ou plin.

Lè yon fanm renmen ou
Syèl la klere epi li ble
Lanmè a manyifik e trè klè
Lè yon fanm renmen ou.

Lè yon fanm renmen ou
Solèy la cho e li pike
Nwaj yo ap vwayaje
Lè yon fanm adore ou.

Premium Member Single Belles

(To be sang to the tune of "Jingle Bells")

Single Belles. Single Belles.
Single all the way...
We'll remain as so til the time is right,
Not available today - hey!
Single Belles. Single Belles.
Single all the way.
We're very content the way we are.
From our choice we'll not be swayed.

Even singles are complete.
Though couples we might meet
May feel minor pity,
Thinking we're lonely.
But then we turn and smile
And remember for a while
What freedom we happen to possess -
It's a secret happiness!

So...

Single Belles. Single Belles.
Single all the way.
We're very content the way we are.
From our choice we'll not be swayed - hey!
Single Belles. Single Belles.
Single all the way.
We'll remain as so til the time is right,
Not a-vail-a-ble to-day!

Premium Member Play By Play-The Pinkerton Story

Climb those many stairs, up to the stars.
“Cut!” Comes the child, the wee Pinkerton.
Stunt double, doubles down, with plethora of scars.
Fate is what it is, bumps, bruises...sorta fun.

Pinkerton rolls and bounces, ooches and ouches.
Then they call in the fingering ‘stache, for he smooths
the luscious hairs of his handlebar, never slouches.
Divine with his hands too, damsels-in-distress, he soothes.

Pinkerton pastes on his pastel beard, and breaks out
into a minor character. “Cut! Stunt dou—ble!”
The ‘Stache rips doppelgänger’s facial hair as Pinkerton shouts,
opens mouth, “Hey! Hey! That really hurt!” Now he’s in trouble.

Pinkerton pouts as he takes his final walk into the night.
Rubs his eyes as a werewolf runs by ready to attack.
Those mischievous stars yell, “Cut! Stunt double, fight!”
Alarmed, Pinkerton needs to know who has his back.

A werewolf snarls and twirls his whiskers with a pinky.
Suspicious and brave, the kid gives him a karate chop.
Pinkerton unzips the stinker from bottom to top.
Found out, ‘Stache grabs his blanket and binky.

Premium Member Christmas Aint All That-The Darker Side of Christmas

I was born
on Christ-
mas day.My
mother was
sprung out
on drugs. My
father was
unknown, he
was one of
her tricks.
The moment
I cried, I was
placed in the
foster care
system. My
mother was
deemed un-
fit. I've never
known love.
I was placed
in several
foster homes.
I was raped
in most of
them.I ran
away from
those awful
homes. So I
was declared
ward of state
by fifteen.
The streets be-
came my hum-
ble abode.I hate
Christmas. And
there's nothing
jolly about it.

See the Birds That Play

M-ake twenty-eighth December
A-ble to come out and shine;
R-ed beacon early Wednesday
I-s rising above the line.

K-iss the cold chill goodbye,
R-ain is nowhere in sight;
I-nclement clime turns fine,
S-un has turned on the light.
T-uesday's shadows are gone,
I-t's a beautiful birthday;
N-ever ignore the flowers, see the birds that play.
