Best With Determination Poems
I have always been alone
I have always been the lonely one
In the corner, quiet and silent
Inside of dreams to come
So with determination
I build and build and build
Possessions compounding
Wealth is the only scorecard I know
Now, it’s amassed, and I have it all
So with pride and confidence
I do what anyone should
I must purchase a possession of my desire
I read in the paper of a sale very fine
A Garage sale of many old antiques divine
Within it all is treasure so very deep
A broken heart of golden hopes
I am not sure how one goes about
Such a purchase, of infinite value
I am succumbed with depression and sadness
For all my wealth
I have not the currency to buy this heart
So I burned my money that very night
I learned, there is another currency of delight
I wrote words and music and poetic verse
My Snow White she refuses to awake
Even my heart at the bone it shakes
Vaso the empty vessel of life
Learned there is no currencies at all
To acquire a broken heart

~ JOURNEY to the center of me!~
Yield upon this blissful moment!
In, a cutting-edge welcoming,
This minute can only maintain-
Yesterday’s journey~ Desire~
The world inside my head, can think,
Deeper than a dream;
Up till now, anticipation has hovered my present thoughts
Day becomes night,
Night becomes day,
In a cave, I call my insanity.
Hallucination, raveling inside my head,
I sit where my thoughts entwine with my elusive slumber.
Everything inside of me is lucid and lost in madness.
I perceive the proper perception;
to think is only a thought.
Today’s journey~ Sensation~
Barren thoughts never exit the aggression in my mind.
I stand among the crying thunder locked within my head.
Of sweet flower they arise and bloom, above all shores,
I embrace the beauty of my deepest emotion.
Sands of time litter within my walls!
My thoughts sit and wait!
Minimizing themselves down to a speckled dot.
They are a few, sweet and creepy,
Those grab my attention,
Tomorrow’s journey~ Pleasure~
Passion wilting upon yesterday’s memory.
Concentrating and unraveling every single knot.
And, still I go back and give that one look.
A hot steamy want, judged by my brainwaves.
Notions, follow a path and indulge with no escape.
Danger escapades into a naughty reflection, "I am my own diversion!"
My thoughts are thoughtless as they can be.
Brittle and little like you and me!
Still my journey continues to emerge with all the thoughts found in the center of me.
Everyday's journey~ Begins with………Determination……

I feel there is a brighter tomorrow
If today I get past the pain
I will walk again in the sunshine
Remembering yesterday's rain
I will walk with determination
Because I have the world to gain
And my storms will be forgotten
Washed away by yesterday's rain
Now the fear has left my body
Faith and hope are all that remain
As I climb the mountain I'm given
Strengthened by yesterday's rain.

He was known as Joltin John
With his baseball bat and his cap upon
He played the game with vigour and speed
Many a supporter said he was all that they need
Was born Guiseppe Paolo DiMaggio number eight child
Lived in America for his eighty four years 'til he died
Played as centre fielder during all his career
With the New York Yankees, who he held dear
Described by some as an uncaring brute
Responsible for Marilyn Monroe sliding into disrepute
With sedatives and such by dominating her so much
Controlling her career to stop her kissing men and such
He craved the limelight just for himself
Yet disliked Marilyn doing the same herself
Yet on the field he was no freak
Known for his 56 game hitting streak
Was MVP winner three times with determination
An all star in each of his thirteen seasons
You will find him in the baseball hall of fame
Look closely you will see his name
Was voted as sports living legend of all time
Was the baseball centennial year of nineteen sixty nine
His first wife was Dorothy Arnold an extra on the film
in which his minor role endured her to him
Married for just five years a son was born
Carries the name of Joseph John
In later years after the Arthur a Miller charade
DiMaggio rescued her from the tormented life she had
Would sit and read poetry on their latter years
Finding a Contentment that slated all fears
So this man had his bad points and good
Needed to reach his soul to be understood
Deep down inside he loved Marilyn for sure
This we will never find out, cos he is no more
He stands alone high in his baseball we surely know that
As a father and husband on his nose he fell flat
.
Remember when we see these idols it's all outer skin
We will never ever know what they are thinking within.

Ted was a professional farter
and at his windy recitals he’d boast
that could even toot Moonlight Sonata
If his wife fed him baked beans on toast!
There was an annual farting competition
Held in downtown Chicago, (the ‘Windy City’)
Ted had pre-loaded his guts for the mission
To lose his title would be such a pity
Ted knew that the competition was stiff
His groaning guts how they gurgled away
He farted an exceptional guitar riff
hoping he’d be winning the trophy that day
Ted raised his left leg and let rip
But disaster was about to strike
His todger got caught in his zip
The searing agony Ted did dislike
Limping off the stage in great pain
Bitter tears fell from his blue eyes
He re-adjusted his trousers again
Could he retain that coveted prize?
Now Ted returned to his farting position
With the microphone close to his tush
And with determination and good nutrition
He farted all of ‘Mystic Rhythms’ by Rush
The audience gave Ted a standing ovation
(Lucky for them they weren’t too near the stage)
And much to Ted’s delight and jubilation
The judges thought his farting was all the rage
Ted was eventually declared the winner
And he returned home to his lovely wife
She’d prepared chicken curry for his dinner
To safeguard his job for the rest of his life!

Lift me up
As I rise on shaky knees
Give me strength
To rise from this bottom of rocks
Willed in my determination
To climb back to this mountain top
Call me a Climber, ambitious
An Expeditionist
A Pilgrim on uncharted land
A Soldier on these battled bends
An Activist when I take a stand
Peaceful, but with determination
A Bird, I’ll go out on a limb
Holding tight against the wind
A Leader, I won’t hop the wagon with the crowd
Not back then, and still not now
A Dream of many faces, of many phases
Something courageous
Even in valleys we rise like nothing can break us
Even through opposition we rise together in greatness
Even when we stumble in our focused cause
We still hurdle boundaries and break down walls
In millions, we still pause
When a handful die by some madman's cause
There’s still something decent within us all
When we answer the cry of our fallen brother
Rebuild, pray, and aid in their recover
Because we are not one without the other

Aged four and half, first day at school
he was going to prove he was no fool,
through boredom disrupted his class
which continued each following day alas,
by luck or fate proved he was not pathetic
my poor boy was diagnosed as dyslexic,
many years past struggling but determined
With this unfortunate disability he burdened,
art and design he found his path to success
through art college he did quickly progress,
at age of seventeen discovered with fear
a life threatening heart condition did appear,
after medical procedure, an electrical bypass,
returned to college awarded top of his class,
to university success predicted by forecasters
proved right after four years collected his masters,
with determination, belief, support and direction
Proved to me everyone can produce perfection.

~~
Hand in hand they meander through the deserted lane,
freshly fallen snow crumpling under foot
Littering the sky, Bright stars, glittering like coins on a belly dancers belt,
slowly surrender to the coming dawn
Inch by measured inch the glory of Ra overpowers the starlight.
In a pale blue sky, a pale golden disc, the colour of ripe oats at harvest time,
looking close enough, and cool enough, to reach out and touch.
Brilliant rays, arrows of liquid gold, capture the pristine landscape,
splintering like a million shards of shattered glass.
No sound, only silence, profound, in the clear crystal air.
In the distance, a cock crows.
Long morning shadows cast by tall pines,
revealing a lone stoat, resplendent in his ermine coat.
Emerging from shade, merging with sunlight,
loping across the virgin snow with bounding grace.
White on white,
only the black tip of his tail and tiny footprints betraying his presence.
In the distance, a dog barks,
A small cottage, a stone chimney, a whisper of smoke announcing a new day,
A hardy little robin pecking with determination to uncover water under ice.
A door slams, the robin takes flight.
Snow slides from the roof to gather in piles like miniature Himalayas.
Icicles drop pearls as the thaw sets in. The world is awakening.
In the distance, a train whistles.
Still holding hands they walk on.

Self-pity became my days in so
many messed up ways,
if only the bottle in my right hand didn’t stay.
I knew I hit rock bottom-
I knew I was reaching near death-
I knew no time could save me,
as I took my last breath.
Flatline,
the fate of mine-
I ran out of time-
for I had become so darn depressed.
A heartbeat appeared as my family feared
I’d never be the same again-
Could there be damage from this affliction
due to my addiction?
I eventually lost all my friends.
I never contemplated ending my life,
for I was a mother and a wife-
I wanted to free myself with grace,
oh, the look upon my husband’s face…
Recovery seemed so far,
as a new flavor of life I craved to taste.
I didn’t want to live a life of waste.
I awoke one morning in
withdrawal and mourning,
for I needed a fix to survive-
But I pulled through and strived
for one more day and had the
strength to stay alive.
A look into my future with a fresh
sewn-on suture,
a mending needle and thread
pulled through with ease-
I needed to rid my life of the rumors,
and needed recovery much sooner
to rid me of this awful disease.
I had a sister back then who
saved me from myself-
I overcame with determination
without contemplation and
fully recuperated to good health.
I needed no wealth,
just sincere motivation and put
that old book upon my top shelf.
For I needed to be free from temptation.
Support groups I attended and many loving
people I befriended and with good counsel
I learned to love within-
God knew my honest life was intended as I
fit in and blended and this battle
I fought I did win.
I may have a broken wing that could never heal,
but this injury reminds of how I don’t wish to feel.
For my past has brought me much adoration,
and forever I shall try to fly in sincere celebration.
The life I hold is completely genuine and real,
as I continue my journey with...
...healthy moderation.
*I will always be grateful for my "broken wing". Thank you for this contest it caused much healing.*

I don’t need to be a farmer
To know life is hard work and sacrifice
I don’t need to be Gandhi
To know peace is the only way
I don’t need to Martin Luther King Jr.
To have a dream of unity
I don’t need to be a samurai
To know that honor is expressed daily
By meeting ones responsibilities
With determination and care
I don’t need to be Mother Teresa
To Know it is our responsibility to lift up others
I don’t need to be Jesus
To Know right from wrong
And always do the right thing
I don’t need to be Buddha
To know one should always strive
To be logical and emotionally sound
I don’t need to be the devil
To know the weakness of men
I don’t need to be the Anti-Christ
To see our future

Within these walls
The walls were too high
Unable to break through
I struggled and fought
With determination
Oh God how I tried
I climbed so high
You remained locked inside your walls
Your past still haunting
Scars still healing
The pain you know
Re-occurrence you fear
The walls were too wide
Bridges too weak
Crumpling under the weight
Suffocating
Choking us with the debris
I walked the universe in your shoes
Understood your pain
My heart desperate to comfort yours
Relinquish your ghosts and your sorrow
Bestow you with my soul
Prove myself
Free you from your castle walls
The walls were too heavy
Crushing my dreams into rocks
They destroyed us
Trampled our emotions
Broken bridges
No way across
We got so far
Just one last hurdle
Too much and too soon
We are rubble
Just dust
Cremated but still living
Lost and alone
I tried so hard
But failed in the end
I struggled and fought
But I lost
You remain locked
Deep inside your walls
A human tragedy
Trapped by his own fears
You are now past
A memory in my heart
One I will never forget
My love will not waiver
Patient until the end
I will always be there
If and when
You are ready to let me in

I am made to feel alone in a battle where there is no room
My thoughts are not heard my tears shall not fall around your eyes
I lock away the pain you gave with the unknowing statement
I feel like I am now the other woman not the partner I came to be
A tension that has been discovered within this moment
I see a doubt of my place within the most adoring partnership
Am I to lay down and hide like I do not breathe
Will my tears dissappear in the morning breeze
Shall my fears be washed away by the crystal of waves that crash
I am here but I am like a secret journal that must be locked
You say nothing changes but you do not hear my silence
That should of haunted your hearts inner thought
I do not matter as my feelings are rocked
She plays a game that you do not see the abuse
Her weapon is children as swords they fall into your heart
They are driven straight to you where you now do not stand tall
She says you are not a man and this is her goal to bring you down
You do not see how the mind of the last now brings
She plays her role with determination that grows
Her making is your braking
She does not crown you but only drowns you
You feel out of control and turn to me
But you do not see what you are doing to me
You hear no words that I speak my heart is now at your feet
As I am made to be the other woman in all defeat
Not as your partner to rule lifes rule I feel disguarded
Not the woman you made the dreams to be .....
Now I am just the other woman ....

I am Africa, the cradle of mankind,
Where ancient footprints in the sands of time entwined,
The birthplace of humanity, divinely designed,
In my esteemed valleys, where life first aligned.
I am Africa, the cradle of civilization,
Where mighty empires rose with determination,
From the ancient Egypt's pyramids to the Great Zimbabwe walls,
From glorious Mali Empire to Kingdom of Kush, history recalls.
I am Africa, adorned with wonders untold,
From Victoria Falls, a sight to behold,
To the Serengeti, the great wildlife migration known,
The winding Nile River, nature's masterpiece shown.
I am Africa, land of majestic savannas,
Where lion roars and elephant wanders,
From Kilimanjaro's peak to the Rift Valley's floor,
Nature's grandeur timelessly spectacular, evermore.
I am Africa, rich in resources so rare,
From Congo's minerals beyond compare,
To Ghana's gold gleaming bright,
And Nigeria's oil, a source of might.
I am Africa, richly endowed with resources untold,
Diamonds, platinum, copper, and tantalum behold,
I offer fertile soils and abundant rainfall,
To sustain life's rhythm, from the great to the small.
I am Africa, proudly dark-skinned and beautiful,
Melanin-rich, skin kissed by the sun, dutiful,
From the Maasai warriors to the Zulu kings,
Cultures and values that makes a heart sings.
I am Africa, scarred by the slave trade's hand,
As ships sailed away with souls from my land,
The Atlantic's cruel passage, a harrowing tale,
Yet from that dark chapter, my resilience did prevail.
I am Africa, the sleeping lion now awake,
To reclaim my glory, no more to forsake,
I stand tall against any disdain, my destiny to behold,
Socially strong, economically stable, politically bold.
I am Africa, acknowledging and ready to confront my flaws,
To root out corruption and greed, oppressive laws,
United in accountability, good governance, equity, and might,
I march forward with determination, embracing the future's light.

Vi's faded jeans
folded for another occasion.
Their distinction -
a silver arrow on main pocket
Friends would ask of
its significance,
but Vi became vague
and slowly indistinct
It was large, so prominent...
A silver arrow pointing down
with determination
to the reddish Texas earth
