Angels - 12/28/21 This is a true story experienced by the poet.

Angel in a Whirlwind

Storm of the decade descends upon the day
Torrents of howling rainfall flood the streets
Banshee winds whip trees, waves upon the bay
Gloomy clouds shadow skies – sunlight in retreat.

Faithful Wheaten, Snickers, too weak to stand
Brightest amber terrier eyes listless in the storm
The rainbow bridge calls to you – gentle command
My broken heart in gusts of windswept mourn.

Now the daylight leaves early – taking the light;
Winter’s hand lays heavy upon the sky;
My tears fall like raindrops dotting the night;
Comfort alludes me in the fading light.

Faithful childhood friend embraces my sorrow
Dinner invitation and shopping at the mall
“Come tonight - please don’t wait until tomorrow.”
Our old habits die hard – we hear the mall call.

Standing on a corner a lady with a Wheaten puppy
Not a hair out of place – not waterlogged or soggy
All felt calm around her – the chaos ceased -
The wind stopped howling in her chrysalis of peace.

Jumping up in greeting just like beloved Snickers
I said farewell with teary eyes in a rain soaked slicker
Pain vanished like a phantom – angelic smile released;
Gentleness of this grace put my heart at ease.

One last question posed “Where did you find your pup?”
Directed to a breeder – my hope rising up
One last puppy longing, waiting for a home
Littermates with new families – this one all alone.

The world stopped spinning on winter’s wings
Warm brown eyes, soft grey ears helped pain lose its sting
Cuddled in our arms softly sleeping in the night.
Theodore our new pup – name means gift of God and light.

Angel in a whirlwind, I never saw your wings
But I know you were God’s messenger like crocus for the spring
My heart filled with gratitude for your mission to this child
And I’ve been seeing angels ever since the storm.

Today my world spins round and round
Due to a whirlwind of emotions
There's no gravity at all
I have no center
Will I succumb
To an emotional Hell?
What will become of
me? I feel like I will
Cease to be
I'm fading fast
What will become
Of me? Poetry came
To my rescue like
Lightening speed
Reminding me of
The lifeline given
Long ago still
Remains today.

Whirlwind - Revised With Music

Caught up in a whirlwind,
whirling and twirling,
Caught up in a whirlwind
tossing and turning,

REFRAIN:
churning and burning inside my heart.
tumbled and tossed in a lovers' whirlwind.
take me away

.
Caught up in a daydream,
wanting and needing,
Caught up in a daydream,
loving and lusting,.

REFRAIN:
churning and burning inside my heart.
tumbled and tossed in a lovers' whirlwind.
take me away
take me away

Caught up in a love snare,
hoping and thinking
Caught up in a love snare,
reeling with feeling

REFRAIN:
churning and burning inside my heart.
tumbled and tossed in a lovers' whirlwind.
take me away
take me away
take me away
take me away
take me away
take me away
away
away
away
away
away
take me away....

Whirlwind Courtship

Whirlwind courtship.
One morning she woke up
married to someone she’d not met -
an overzealous mother-in-law.
For twenty years now, she’s been
excluded from his family clan.
What a blessing in disguise!

Whirlwind

Whirlwind

Up up and away
wind go up in a spiral
lifting everything

Leaves dance in a whirl
flying away with the wind
as it go away

Scattered on the ground
the falling leaves lay crumbled
in heaps, worn and wasted

the whirlwind had left
leaving behind mess
on paths it traversed

Whirlwind

eclipse of emotions
shadow her descent

                      Falling

like a deflated balloon
against the masons hand

                                    Crushed
Love escapes her callused grasp

Hewn in verse and ancient lore,
It descends through an open door
To place its fingers on mortal souls,
On meager pleas on lifeless shoals.
Far below where creatures dwell,
Its surging scorn is born as rising embers swell.
Small shadows merge where thoughts collect,
And pierce the fog of day,
Murmured sounds rise to settle on unsympathetic play.
Cast aside each whimper lost within a chastening howl;
Hidden in burrows, mortals scurry
And feel the weight of worry.
Dark whispers mingle ravenous desires
From misty lofts in chambers forlorn,
From anvil thrones their cries adorn the morn.
From a heavenly palace, they scatter stones of malice;
Sparks of thunder pierce the night,
Then fade from sight.
Their cold embrace excites our race;
Unleashed hordes reap our toil,
And plunder our grace.

Metaphoric Whirlwind

I am offended
by your metaphors,
they're vindictive
the way they dangle themselves
above my heartstrings,
periodically plucking
when one gets tangled in the wind

they just hang there
like an untame pennon
waiting to flap
for blatant recognition

my, how you crave those squalls
with such ravenous gluttony,
gnawing at the pellucid air
as though it were chewable

The Lovers' Whirlwind

I'm caught up in another whirlwind.
It blows me to you without a doubt,
tossed here, tossed there, tossed about.

Love and lust are both a knife,
  cutting up
bits and pieces of my life.

What part of my heart will you possess?
The part that can only say,
              "Yes"?

Without this dream of you out there
  my heart would
  surely, scarcely bare.

So, take me away
  with all the rest
who can never be the best.

We tumble and toss about within
  the lovers' crazy, hazy whirlwind.

A Whirlwind Romance

I have accepted myself, now.

In incompleteness,
and all flaws.

The bunker was intent,
on self-destruction. Why
did you want to
stop that ?

The prodigy will not
walk with me, I know.
Yet my shadow falls in love.

A tear-washed poem
was a good beginning.

Does the Angel In the Whirlwind Still Direct the Storm

“ Does the Angel in the Whirlwind still Direct the Storm ? ”

As blood in rivers of crude black burned
the prophets mourned
and woe upon the angel dancing in the storm
to the reign of hail
and bitterness forlorn
have returned their heroes desperate
in ranks made heroic by stone white crosses

To victorious eulogy their march to stagnant

It is but the irony of sand and oil
and hell made fortress by the tongue of lies

And ever innocence in the whirlwind; dies

What of man by the beast encountered
shall savage applause from those demented
in praise to lift them on the tornadoes wings
the seraphim's debacle devours them
they are lost in the irony of oil and sand
as the foul tongue of lies
pours the betrayal of dust into their eyes

Triumph upon the righteousness putrefied

The prophets torn and laid aside
in revelations promises of demise

And ever innocence in the whirlwind; dies
