Metaphoric whirlwind

I am offended
by your metaphors,
they're vindictive
the way they dangle themselves
above my heartstrings,
periodically plucking
when one gets tangled in the wind

they just hang there
like an untame pennon
waiting to flap
for blatant recognition

my, how you crave those squalls
with such ravenous gluttony,
gnawing at the pellucid air
as though it were chewable

Powerful words forward your thoughts in this poem. Nice use of similie. Much to think about here. Best wishes with your writing. Karen

This seems to have a directness to it, as if it is intended for one in particular. Terrific vocabulary exhibited and a smooth flow that uses clear imagery to make the point. Very well expressed. Michael
