New City - Get Ready

Mama I want to be a star
I want to grace stages that host the world's revered faces
Fantasies shameless my pipe dreams contagious
I want to be famous

Not one for fictional frivolity
I speak of what's in front of me
A new city called Poetry,
I watched as the has-beens soaked their dreams in sewage streams
Unphased by rodent plagues
These ones embrace their own rat race
I still try to navigate the avenues
Negotiate the ones and twos and find a way to tell the truth

Young and unstable I stumble in the giant footprints of those who stood before me
Tip toe on verbal terrain as desperately I pray the weight of immaturity won't bury me,
Admittedly this spoken world is new to me

-But-

Is it possible in any way the gift of verse will carry me?

I see me breaking grounds, earth shattering and in my dreams these words resound
I'll turn cacophony into somewhat of a sacred sound
I want to craft phrases that serenade, deliver sweet-somethings that emancipate
I want, in some way to bring meaning to confusion
Dear world of poetry
Sometimes when they're floored I'm in awe of how my flow's flawless, I hear applause no pauses, waving arms and stinging palms bear tribute to those timeless charms, classic tales still bent with intent to succumb to new pens

Pave way for insecurity
For fear of gift escaping me
See I fail to write when I'm trying to
I get it right with no intention to
Am I...within my right to claim potential true?
Tear ink off her hinges, her blue ball point cringes
Left hand in debt
My blank page bereft

But in the back of my mind
I see standing ovations and soul drenched invasions..
I want to pierce every being I encounter,
I want to penetrate faith, tear doubt asunder,
Let me to speak to the valleys
negotiate peaks and make friends with epitome
I want to part oceans and in the grips of my - pause - tempt emotions,

mold momentum to set in motion the wheels of adoption so that poetry.....may adapt herself for me

I want to write poetry, I want to speak
I want to reach within,
 pen something...
 A remote reflection of her
This...this brand new city
I present this piece as fantasy
 when in all reality
I do hope she's prepared for me

Will
my verse
reach your ear
      can
your eye
stay the course
      Does
unconvention
           confound
the rhythm
of your eyes
     Take
a deep breath
exhale and read
     between my lines
unphased
     by phrase and
     habitude
or human voice
The choice
          is always
          yours if
my poem will
          be or is
not to be
a tune upon
              your ear

I Got Arrested Further Developments Await

I got arrested!... further developments await...

By gravity said law
linkedin with physics
stating that a body at rest
will remain thus unless otherwise
acted upon by an external force,

hence I cannot wrest motion
from inert human matter
regarding nearly lifeless entity
concerning how aye barely breathe
heavily weighed down

with lugubriousness easily crushing
this seventy two inch
rusty, cowardly, creaky...
complex corporeal edifice,
thus resigning myself

watching flight of bumblebee
hopscotching from one
clover plant to another
wondrous winged warrior
unphased by human "rat race"

higglety pigglety,
pell mell, helter skelter,
how grand living off the grid
venerating native flora and fauna
simply engrossed with daily tasks

solely attending
basic inalienable rights
life, liberty, pursuit of happiness
keeping stereotypical roles intact
males species pact schedule

hunting in tandem
with brotherly comrades
females tending hearth and home
tendering, safeguarding, nesting...
homeschooling offspring

supervising fledgling,
the latter gingerly venturing
tentatively into parts unknown
unfamiliar territory brimming
trained instincts detect danger,
nonetheless plod along

blueprinted genetically
inherent migratory paths
guides where uncertainty looms
within wide whirring web
invoking, feigning camouflage,
or mimicking ("FAKE")
simulating another organism.

Premium Member Shame On Social Mores

Successive letters of the alphabet per line using A through S

Ann was born at a time when females lacked rights.
Both parents warned, her purity must be unphased.
Chastity, shame and sin were lectured day and night,
dictating a future marriage in accord with social mores.
Each day, since a teen, she prayed love to be as hoped.
Fraught, these feelings dimmed in society’s grim scope.

Girly and gangly at sixteen, her parents did chance
Hank, a farmer, as Ann’s best offered circumstance.
Ignorant all, there was not one thought of romance,
just opportunity to make Ann a legal, proper wife.
Knots grew in Ann’s heart and her fears were rife,
life's labels demanded she be Hank’s property for life.

Married life forced Ann to labor on Hank’s farm -
nasty blistered hands to atone for his lazy harm.
Oblivion was often sought by Hank through drinking,
pushing Ann to slave or see her survival sinking.
Quietly, she daily tended all crops and chores.
Unfit drunk, she often tripped him for floor decor.
Repulsed by his stank fueled breath and awful snorts,
She viewed murderous plots in her brain for sport.

Submission To Persuade Midsummer

Distorted open wings jolt with fresh memories solve the mystery and the curse
comes back to me, does the punishment fit the crime it fails in comparison and
falls to decadence. It moves beside you unseen and unphased as innocent
becomes clean. Silence simulated alliance gather around and listen to your
unchanging love song a simple dilemma relax in trance unsatisfied dreams
sway under hypnosis this is what it seems foot steps under a filthy sky we beg
the reasons why. Illuminated cryptic words spoken on solstice verge undenied
washed away with the coming tide it cries out to be known it crawls turning to
stone a thousand years trapped and scorn. Lusted and weak enchanted it
speaks with addiction it weeps savage it sleeps a masterpiece underneath black
we leave it at that.

Momentary Reflection

I was paralyzed in thought,
and standing all alone;
Surrounded by darkness,
everything was gone...

With barely a glimpse, from the corner of my eye;
I was travelling so fast as I passed myself by.
I was moving at high speed, as if,
somehow out of time.

Thinking to myself, looking back into the distance;
Could I have been resting,
or was there something on my mind;
Maybe, I was just Reflecting,
on some Moments from past times...

A Momentary Reflection,
I thought as I laughed;
Reflections of mistakes, so many in my past;
Or maybe the future, and thoughts of my death.

There's no point in thinking that anything can change;
I passed myself there and found myself here;
Crossroads unmarked, destination unphased,
Trembling,
like a lost dog, covered in mange...

A strength unfound, a desire to disappear;
A Momentary Reflection,
of how I found my way here.

As I watch myself in quiet,
with no desire to stop;
In slow motion I fall,
from a single gunshot...

A Momentary Reflection,
of where I stood at the start;
Maybe if I had slowed, or come to a stop,
this Moment I have witnessed,
the confusion and doubt;
Just maybe, somehow;
I could have found a way out...

They Yet Stand Their Guard

Two lions sit perched on the dew covered lawn,
silently they witness approaching dawn.

Their marbleized forms catch days first light,
no longer hidden from dark of night.

Unmoving, they gaze to horizon’s end,
lords of the grounds they heroically fend.

But oblivious to movement throughout each day,
upon their poised perch they eternally stay.

Unphased of the hours, they yet stand their guard
as shadows reach forth to these lions stone hard.

Uncaring of time and days into nights,
they tirelessly watch from darkness to light.

Two lions sit perched on the dew covered lawn ............

Brace For Impact

Pillar of society, creme de la creme, important person,
one to be reckoned by indeed.
One who's untouched by palls, frails near a radiant ray
   growing escorts doth proceed.
Voice of distinction whose speeches are unchallenged
   by its assertion that's decreed.
Unphased episodes courses the agendas, a sequence
   that discerns simper's precede.

A tempestuous dominance succeeds ominously, envy
   malcontents opposition brews.
A reddish rosebud blossom pleasantly teases passing
   precious sinless longing views.
Momentarily, likely hopefuls sufficed with promiscuity,
as castles are in the air amuse.
Tease now meets, precious turns valuable, the sinless
   goes erringly, a longing peruse.

It's Victor Victoria all o'er again, contentious contempt
   prompt convenient conveyance.
Spun wove a collaring, intrigues the unconscious prey
   lifeline throbbings flit abeyance.
Reflections forfeited understanding, extending affairs
   remaining heartfelt purveyance.
A cunning round effortlessly played a quagmire knew
a must to revisit the surveyance.

Gameplayers oriented with odds best strategy, ne'er
is an even field, someone loses.
The furnishings and ambiance, constant the unwary
   yet, talented eyes espy cruises.
The vibrant and the figurative ignored the trappings
   materializes oneness' enthuses.
Benumbed by skepticism facilitates a stirring, bestill
   as mesmerizing coequals fuses.

Skulked fogs' ethereal coursing mauling hilltops full
   as the penthouse lights dwindle.
Midst Aurora's wake a bliss wanes, as lights reclaim
the wilting as a mint thorn tingle.
The advent baffles confused as concealed cameras
   videos live and reporters mingle.
Crushed stand, a ring falls, plays another team, not
alone, brace for impact, a kindle.

Premium Member Before She Was Born

Second sight in some infants, short tenure belies
Unbiased newness unpicks societal manufacture
To passers by, lurking spiritual assets recognisable
Pervading expression classifies their clairvoyance

Such was toddling dandelion darling, Aubergine
Unphased, observant, chillingly serene in nature
Cherubic smirk absorbed traits, antics compiled
Tea coloured irises brewed extracted evidence

Aloof by default, addictive was desire to amuse her
Surfacing sufficient wit to captivate earned pleasure
Complex humour her veracity seeking palate required
Ego's growth ensued causing her copper eyes to flare

Taut uncooked dough forehead bound words in focus
Incidental text in her proximity statue faced savoured
Without parental prompting, pillared wisdom widened
Constant calculation of her purposed component

Memorable eerie moment in Aubergine activity
I surreptitiously witnessed striking behaviour
"Don't tell Mummy, I was once burnt alive in fire."
She confided in her soft toy 'school' semi circle

Watching her calm revelation, mildly humilated
by my unfamiliarity with her zany brain's structure
Her sophistication held me dauntingly hypnotised
Haunted by her thirty month old pre life mystery

Written 18th June

( I just noticed today's date sounds a bit like 'Aubergine')
a word name I thought suited a little tot called Lexi
at a Day Care Centre I worked at a few years ago.

After putting this poem up, I realise
Aubergine sounds like Joan of Arc (Jeanne D'arc)
   swapped syllables.
Didn't plan the poem to mention fire.
I had only the concept of outstanding baby girl when sat to write.

Spun unphased in mist powder snow confetti
Displays liberation, feminine masterment
Ceases to be bludgeoned, poor past indebted

Ever near sentinel halo lambent levitating
Reminds Her Highness maintain intrinsic value
Vision fruition, Eden orchard deliberating

Christmas brings riches, family fondness
Uplifted spirits hear chime of carolled optimism
December cures long calendar arduous
Decorated angel heralded is spectacularly risen

Premium Member Looters Steal the Message

The country's on fire
Buildings ablaze
A situation most dire
Filmed through the haze.

Protesters all shouting
Passions inflamed
Of their anger no doubting
For the victim now named.

They march with hands raised
Indignant and loud
Determined, unphased,
To pressure unbowed.

But the message is tainted
The moment hijacked
The vision now painted
Of stores all ransacked.

Looters in droves
Their arms filled with goods
From iPhones to clothes
Their faces in hoods

Frenzied they run
Opportunity knocks
Plate glass they shun
With hammers and rocks.

Men of no soul
These rats of the night
Not caring they stole
What's pure and what's right.

Sadness surrounds us
Few places to turn
So much to discuss
While our cities now burn.

Premium Member Don'T Marry Meredith

It's funny, because I've vacuumed under your bed
a hundred times in the past two years
I've dusted the black bedside table
picked up your Scotch and Soda pants off the floor,
still jingling with belt attached
All of your belts and shoes are brown
My father told me as a child, that homosexuals
were identifyable according to the colour of their leather
- Brown meant straight - black equalled gay - simple!

It was an odd jolt seeing your face for the first time
Framed in slim silver, large laptop screen size photo
A typical care filled composition
Brunette, proud as puch five foot five, linked her arm
Through your blue shirt arm, her grin was relief saturated
She had to be a Christian, your family is devout Christian
Appearing 25, she no doubt felt a first sexual encounter
was long overdue
But catered for entirely by God's intention

Anyhow, Aaron, I'm sorry I digress, - you're a busy man
Hence I've never seen you on a Friday when I clean there
You haven't yet moved out of Mom and Dad's s home, it must
make it easier to keep life in order, avoid giving in to urges
1920's movie star you are, in glinted silver screen frame
Minus Charlie Chaplin moustache
Plus ten pounds, giving your face cherubic cuteness
Kewpie eyed expression unphased
jowls harking harmless ventriloquist puppet

Don't be upset
If I described myself it would be similarly unorthodox
Vacuum zooming (according to aggressive motor noise)
I gazed at your lax lipped purple tinged face
- it has to be the most obvious unspoken secret in your family
- Aaron, sweet child of God.
Your world won't have a bar of who you are

Your Mother had just returned to position a large vase
showcasing three dozen orange roses behind your frame
Plus a cellophane covered hamper of high end liquor
God, Aaron - your upbringing has enclosed you
aligned with their strict beliefs
You'll need to put that cellophane over your mouth
Wrap it tight around your heart
- You have a congregation to consider
you'll be alright

My Phaser Is Unphased

Captain Quark to Mr. Sprock;
Ground control to Major Tom,
Your phaser is unphased,
Now if that doesn't phase you,
I'd be quite amazed.

You can't stun with a dead gun,
You couldn't even phase,
a jar of Mayonaisse

Klingons you can't haze,
With a still-born phase,
The instruction manual says,
You'll likely be dead in 2 days.
And the Romulans, for sure,
Will be knocking on your door

So beam me up, Scotty toilet paper,
And get me a working rapier.

Red Fortitude

Lo' and behold,
There it sits
Red Fortitude,
Under an ocean of blue,

Amidst pale yellow plaster,
Towering above,
And a foliage of green
That crowds for a view.

The sun whispers phrases
Enchantments that only shadows construe
And yet unphased by its neighbours
Lost in thoughts of its own
There it sits
Red Fortitude
Under an ocean of blue.
