OL'E TY COBB OF YESTER YEAR,
WAS A GENIUS IN SPIKES, OR SO I HEAR.

HE RAN THE BASES WITH A BURST OF SPEED.
LIKE ADRENALINE JUNKY IN TIME OF NEED.

STOLE SECOND BASE WITH HIS FOOT HELD HIGH.
A SERIOUS THREAT TO SPIKE ONES EYE.

LIT UP THE CHARTS, WITH ALL HIS STATS.
TRIPLE CROWN WINNER AND THATS A FACT.

NINETEEN-ELEVEN (1911), COBB SET THE PACE.
WITH A FOUR-TWENTY(.420) AVERAGE, HE STOLE EIGHTY-THREE (83) BASE.

LED THE LEAGUE IN TRIPLES FOUR (4)TIMES.
HOMERUN KING NINETEEN-O-NINE (1909).

CHECK HIS STATS, HE LED THEM ALL.
THAT TY COBB COULD PLAY BASEBALL.

THIRTEEN THOUSAND-0- SEVEN-EIGHT(13,078).
NUMBER OF APPEARANCES MADE AT THE PLATE.

DON'T FORGET THE BASE ON BALL.
TWELVE-FORTY-NINE (1,249)AND THAT'S NOT ALL.

FOURTY-ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX (4,186)HITS.
THE RESULTS OF THE WAY HE SWUNG THAT STICK.

BATTING CHAMP ELEVEN (11) DIFFERENT TIMES.
WON NINETEEN TWELEVE (1912)WITH A FOUR-O-NINE (409).

LED EIGHT TIMES, IN TOTAL WITH HITS.
LED STOLEN BASES WITH A TOTAL OF SIX.

EIGHT-NINETY-TWO (892)TOTAL STOLEN BASES.
IMAGINE THE LOOK ON THOSE CATCHERS FACES.

TWENTY-TWO-HUNDRED FORTY-SIX RUNS.
AFTER TWENTY-FOUR SEASONS, HIS CAREER WAS DONE.

HE ONLY STRUCK OUT SIX-EIGHTY(680) TIMES.
OVER TWENTY-FOUR SEASONS, THAT BLOWS MY MIND.

HALL OF FAMER, THATS A FACT.
WITH HIS NINETEEN-THIRTY-SIX HALL OF FAME PLAQUE.

GEORGIA PEACH IS DEAD AND DONE.
JULY SEVENTEEN SIXTY-ONE. A

A HUNDRED YEARS HAVE COME AND GONE,
THAT TY COBB LEGEND, STILL LIVES ON.

really made me mad!

Little Ghost Ty

For my grandson Tyler...with love Grandma

In a little ghost town in a land far away,
Lived little ghost Ty who liked always to play-
Father ghost warned him not to be scary,
While Mama ghost told him to always be wary!

October arrived - the time coming near,
Ty’s favorite holiday, soon would be here-
His friends were practicing to loudly say “Boo,”
He thought to himself, should I say it too?

“Do we have to wait until it’s dark?” Ty asked,
He wasn't sure if his patience would last-
His ghost buddies teased him a number of times,
“Can you, for once in your life, your parents not mind?”

Little ghost Ty thought for a minute and said,
Wel-l-l. they’ll never know if we stay far ahead-
All of his friends practiced frightening each other,
Ignoring the things said by his father and mother!

Excitement abound when night time arrived,
Ty and friends, a plan they contrived-
They told Ty’s sister, “ Keep your parents near,
Don’t let them catch up to us – clear?"

The night was so windy it whistled a tune,
The sky was dark with an elliptical moon-
Ty and his friends raced out of sight,
A little afraid, Ty pulled his sheet tight!

“Don’t be a baby,” said his little ghost friends,
“We’re nearing the school, where the road bends-
Get ready for action, we’ll belt it out loud.
We’ll scare everyone in that Halloween crowd.”

Little Ty shivered as they passed by the school,
Out of the bushes jumped three purple ghouls – BOO!
Ty and his friends were totally surprised,
Tears came rolling right down their eyes.

When father and mother caught up with their group,
They could tell that the little guys had really been spooked-
As they went to each door with their trick or treat phrase,
Ty and his friends, by his parents side stayed!

Upon returning home on Halloween night,
Little ghost Ty knew his parents were right-
Never say something you don’t want said to you -
And listen to your parents, they know what’s best to do!

One day I got up off the john,
And to my desk to work upon.
An hours passed. I looked around.
To my amazing eyes I found:

My paper took a shade of brown,
All up the page and even down.
My muddy desk, my muddy pen.
My muddy walls, around my den.

Furthermore, my hand it reeks,
For sure to come between my cheeks,
A lesson learned, remember it,
To wash your hands after you .

Welcoming Our Little Ty

We welcome in a baby boy named Ty
blessed we are, asking not why
Life precious and so very sweet
another grandson I'll soon greet

Life sends blessings as it flows
we thank God and it surely shows
A future with this child's joys
daughter now has two beautiful boys

Old age brings in surprising gifts
this blessing stands and uplifts
More time I now desperately seek
with these children so mild and meek

Praying for a life much, much longer
to see my family grow so much stronger!

Robert J. Lindley, 01-08-2015

The Conman Ate, Two Plates of Ty

mental mind
of the slipping kind
you been
trip-en so divine
here in your sick little willful hive
you've been acting so unkind
just to rap your hands around
my swishy, dishy, hip lyrics here
its driven you to find
me to be of the simple mind
but have no fear i see you clear
you are of the criminal kind
and would like it if
i wrote you the greatest of designs
but this is no
because i don't want to be a music hoe
so take a hike
and find some one
who want to write

Ty

Dreaming sleeplessly
I'm in a deep sleep regardless
Of what you say thotlessly
Damage the distress in progress
You sent me letters and emails
Thank you...I'd like to say Thank You
Every time I walk - five thousand fails
Thank you for not making me blue, boo
In perspective, I'm trying so hard
Yet, I'm still this pathetic bard
I feel and see music
It's so darn epic and enthusiastic
So therapeutic and exquisite like a perfect pic
Flicker the lights on and off
I guess I wasn't enuff
I suppose I like the pain ruff
Hey, be quiet, silent tears that fall from the inside
You can only see my outside
Fading like the atmosphere
The blue and grey waters of the oceanside
Leaves me with no fear,
For I am your chocolate,
Wrapped up in chandeliers of hopes...
Wrapping paper isn't that expensive
But, my love isn't cheap...
Let that sink deep
Get me a ride
By your side,
My beautiful future bride...
Subside from my side afterwards...
I see words and letters backwards...
Dyslexia does drive me nuts...
No if's, and's or but's about it...but I don't hate my guts
I'm becoming the new me
Let me be me and set me free

Ty

I'm all alone in this world now since you left it.
I'll be strong though for your sake.
I'll continue on so your actions won't be in vain.
They drove you out of here with pitch forks and fire blown by the dragon's breath.
That fort in the forest is for me alone now.
Our secret hiding place to block out the world's indecent incidents.
As I sit alone in the shack, the wind cries out your name.
Are you there Ty?
Crunch, snap, each step I take along the way,
It's your name I hear in the earth's movement.
Ty.
Don't leave me.
Your spirit faded into the oxygen I breath in and the CO2 I breath out.
Ty.
I see your face as it was the day you left, minus the tears.
It's in the fog that leaves my lips to form your figure in the cold winter air.
Ty.
My best friend, you'll always be with me.

Please sing
The song
To me
Again;
Every note so sweet, please sing the song,
Hearing means so much to me again.

Your words
Of love
Thrill me,
My heart
Overflows hearing your words of love.
Your feelings thrill me, inside my heart.

I sing
The song
Of love
For you.
Your love is returned, I sing the song
Of love with notes so sweet, back for you.
