My Saddest Day(A Dog Gone Tableau)
I Had to leave him
(though he yapped and whined)
at the adoption drop off,
(I still loved him so)
with folks that I'd entrusted
(he was my dear friend)
with his safe keeping.
(He'd turned old and blind)
His mournful howl followed me
(when we let him go.)
as i exited the door
(How can my heart mend?)
My two poems for the Intermingle Contest of Craig Cornish:
My Saddest Day, written a while earlier than actually posted on 9/21/2014
& A Dog Gone Tableau, posted 10/17/2014 a few days after I wrote it.

(The idea for what to use was inspired by my wonderful friend, Harry Horsman)
“You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed.”
from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince
Though he yapped and whined,
I still loved him so.
He was my dear friend.
He'd turned old and blind
when we let him go.
How can my heart mend?

The sun is dripping
Blood into the sea.
The sky runs crimson
Heavy is the heart
The wound fresh and deep
Tears fall at sunset.
“One day I saw the sun set forty-four times! … You know, when you're
feeling very sad, sunsets are wonderful.” @ Antoine de Saint.

I wake to the smell
of homebrewed coffee
and fresh toasted bread.
Then, her missing scent
suddenly strikes home…
The recurring dream.

Pondering the phrase,
“Written in the stars”-
On the darkest nights,
Crowned with cloudless skies;
A still lake channels
The sonnets above.

I’ll meet you halfway
set fire to both ends
Kiss you in stasis
as our world upends
God it feels so good
when balance transcends

Tiger Tableau
Six shots rang out loud
Woke the jungle calm
My trained tiger hit
Landed on me hard
Good thing I am fat
We both could have died

“You become responsible forever for what you've tamed.”
Soft silken petals
Tenderly unfold
Divulging little;
Yet, blazing red blush,
Beauty to behold,
Exudes scent of love.

Five syllables per line
Watching sunsets flare
Hypnotized we stare.
Horizons last light
Burning orange bright.
Heaven and earth one,
As our day is done.

Design your Tableau 4th
A break in the clouds,
sun beams on rain drops.
Brilliant colors
lift winter spirits.
And we remember
the rainbow's promise…
"Happiness doesn't lie in the objects we gather around us.
To find it, all we need to do is open our eyes"

Funeral today
Teardrops flow freely
I gaze at the sky
Sun sets on your life
Glorious gold glow
Soothes my breaking heart

Lifted by soft wings
My tame little one
Released from loose strings
With praise freedom won
Opened hand run way
Fly fast to the sun

Quote from Antonine De Saint Exupry
1. "You become responsible forever for what you have tamed"..
Night subdues color
till Dawn's light pierces
its indistinct heart
and it bleeds scarlet
onto crimson smeared
alabaster clouds.
