Trojan Heart Part 2

So it was that tragedy, which lead me finally,
Have another invasion, upon my lands-never,
To guard my boundaries, and bolster my army,
Let the pain in my heart, with cold fury- wither

The petty palisades of wood, are now of stone,
Upon ramparts are erected, many cannons strong,
Mighty swords sharpened, arrow-heads honed,
Wishing anger to sustain me, keep my vigil long

Much has been done, and more has been sought,
I promised to be mighty, not conquered futilely,
Often I be dismal, when I stare down my moat,
Need I be strong always, but eternally lonely?

Thence once these lonesome times, I look at you,
Saw a princess lovely, aloof and shy,
Could such beauty hold, a heart pure and true?
“No” I told myself, knowing full well I lie

Every moment then, are filled with longing,
For I knew you were special, a fragile innocence,
Could my night watch finally, see it’s morning?
But I won’t give up easy, what I built so far hence

To harsh self-flagellation, this denial has turned,
Fiercer heart-rending than, being left for a fool,
More formidable even, than all the days I mourned,
For rejection of affection, is now my first rule

Behind my quiet hard eyes, I ask you fervently,
Underneath my grim and dark façade, lies a question,
Hoping against hope, you will hear this mute plea,
Allow me once again, to breath Love’s desperation

Hear this entreaty, asked in silent despondency,
Words are not needed, Just feel my agony……

Could you be the Trojan horse,
To capture surreptitiously my heart?
Free me from this maddening curse,
Shatter this misery to the tiniest parts

Through thick, thin, high and low
Anytime, whether it's sunny or rainy
Asta is there when you need one hugs

Spending time with you, share joy and love
Beautiful and valuable as a summer day will be
Her presence will bring light and beautiful colors in your life

Sweet kisses from morning to evening
She is quite special, a dog like no other
I am sure that Asta will steal your heart

When Two Stars Align

Up in the ink sky
A lone star shines

My eyes fixed on its sight
winking at me its diamond eyes

Empowers me to strive
To make a wish come to life

To bring someone special a smile
By love, a dancing light, beguiled

Crossing my fingers tight
That God, His love, my light

To trust His will, surrendering mine
To find he who will bind life with mine.

Our souls as one, an even brighter shine
As when two lone stars come to align.

Up the ink sky, my eyes search the night
Just to find your shining light.

Premium Member Telephone Man

Moved into my first apartment, I was now standing completely on my own,
Called the telephone company to install my phone so I wouldn’t feel alone.
Felt pretty proud of myself, just didn’t realize how young and foolish I was,
The telephone man hooked up my phone but his good looks gave me pause.
Said he had my number and thought going out with me would be a delight,
With a quick goodbye, he’d call to see if I was free for a drink one night.
We had several dinner dates and I thought that things were going well,
Until I had to call him at work and I realized I was in some kind of hell.
I asked for him by name and another man’s voice came on the phone,
Seems he had lied to me, his actions his colleague did not condone.
Apparently he was married and had children this telephone man,
He used his enterprising dating scheme and I fell for his plan.
Thought we might be developing something special, a close bond,
While all the time I fell for him, I was actually just being conned.
Found out he was working one day on a phone line close to town,
So I drove over and called out his real name, he turned with a frown.
You’re just a liar, a cheat and a dirty rotten scoundrel I shouted out,
My dreams shattered but a little wiser because of this telephone lout.

The loss of a child, can be quite hard, to bare,
it’s just not the natural order and it will never seem fair.
Our children are everything, we give them our all.
They get every hug and kiss, and we pick them up when they fall.

I remember a little boy who I have not seen, in quite a while.
His laugh was infectious and I can still see his smile.
He is now a grown man, but that is not what I see.
I just see that little boy, laughing and smiling back at me.

He was a part of something special, a family that I love and adore.
They helped mend my broken heart, and never shut their door.
Weekends at the lake and holidays spent in their home,
in my hour of need, they made sure that I was never alone.

No greater love have I seen, in all my days,
than that of this family, with their kind and generous ways.
It’s been twenty-five years since this young boy was born,
I am sorry for your loss, and now with you I will mourn.

Superior Knowledge

The world is a lave a pallet of creation
Looking into space, a futile distraction
The earth is in space and all it represents
Looking upward wondering ignoring the obvious
The pattern of nature the key to life
Everything in nature release us from strife
From wondering mind, from wondering soul
Pillar too pillar young and old
Some think of it as architecture, some confusing mess,
Some a spontaneous fragment of scientific jest
To some a duty a jigsaw to caress,
And some just get on and never confess
We each hold the answer to our brain
Coming once sometimes again and again
Sometimes never at all, contained in distraction
The harrowing lore, the abyss of infatuation
The buckled belt restraint on the mind
Have to find out, not sure I will with death and time
But will it empower or dissolve my life
Sitting here continually wondering why
When that could be it, just to live to experience and enjoy it
And we the fools who try to explain never understood the simplicity
Expanding our stupidity with information overload, we didn't need
To study or to vex our thoughts flexing our complexion
With stressful sickness broken and distraught,
Are we just the sickness in god’s body?
A disease spreading in the DNA of the supreme
Thinking we are special, a comforting belief
Or are we trapped in our own creation,
Our creation is no waiting quotation
Or selfish intoxication of boredom
Or perhaps, the conclusion the capstone solution
Buried with its foundation, alas the incantation released
And now fondled into confusion its veil of truth still uncovered
No one is true enough to bind its rudder,
Elevate one’s conscience, conjure up the thunder
Not in modern times where knowledge is sought
By any mind, any person, any element of thought.

Premium Member Better Men

I keep meetin 'em
don't really understand
why..
eyes always lookin ahead
calm..
slow to rile
yet quick to
lend a hand.

Kiss their mother on the cheek
sayin a last goodbye..
going off to chase their fortune
never knowin' why.

Boys most, not yet men,
practiced at the two step.
farmers some..
worked out on the plain
died in foreign holes
to lilting strains of
Lili Marleen.

So special a rare thing,
wearin a toothy smile..
singin' praises of home
we'll all be home
in just awhile.

Necks turned dark,
cracked and creviced
under so many suns
they were good sons
the ones I knew.

Such a steadfast course,
their bright future laid in,
hoping just the same
the pews they prayed in.

Full o' song with hearts unfurled,
now to waylaid dreams,
fine leaders of another world,
all better men than me.

Distant Friends

Sometimes friends that are far away
can be your best friend
He lives in Malta
Which is 7,609 km in distance from where I am
I came to PoetrySoup in Jan of 2016
Obviously, at first, I didn’t know him
But soon it became clear to me that this man
Was special…a poets poet
He was there from the beginning
Always the first to comment
Even other people’s poems…first to comment
Or at least he was there
And then his poems
Full of flair life drama comedy
He had been through a lot
Like I was watching a marathon of movies
Crisp clean writing…I can’t recall any mistakes
Sometimes I would abandon him in commenting
Still, do…but he is always there
I love his bantering and dry humor
Never had many friends in my life (violin music lol)
If I did…they somehow took advantage(more violin music lol)
He is the older brother I never had (first of four brothers)
The sister I always wanted (metaphorically speaking lol)
(-curtain about to drop or mike)
(((((((((((((Victor Buhagiar))))))))))))))

…I’ve made many other great friends here…my poetic sisters and brothers
Such beautiful poetic souls…love you all (violin comes to a screeching stop)

I spread my arms, like wings
To embrace love that sings
That reaches my mind with peace
While my wishes and hope increase
Inspiration flows with words to me
I welcome to keep for eternity
You are special, a light to shine
All that you’ve given, grateful is mine
To cherish, as if you’re in my arms
With all your invigorating charms
I am here for you, however I can be
Forever, simply, as far as you can see

Bestfriend Till the End

I sit all alone thinking of you
and all the things we've both been through
You are my very best friend
and I know you'll be there until the end

Your shoulder to cry on is now gone
who will be there when something is wrong
When times are tough you've always been there
It shows me just how much you care

Although lifes challeges have brought us separate ways
you're in my heart till my final days
Nothing can make a person see
how special a person you are to me

I dreamed of a best friend just like you
and finally my dream came true
Nothing else could ever fulfill
everything you're friendship will

You understand a side of me
that no one else could ever see
You know whats wrong before i cry
but if I do, you always know why

A friend like you is hard to find
you put my problems all behind
You were there when no one cared
the best times were the ones we shared

We've been together through good and bad
you made me laugh even when I was sad
And no one else could ever be
as good of a friend you are to me

But now until the very end
you'll always be my special best friend.

A Mom Is-

A mom is someone special, a mom is someone kind
When you’ve had a bad day, she knows what’s on your mind.
When you’re not feeling well and you feel like crap
She always comes with open arms and a space for you in her lap.
She doesn’t ask what’s going on until you’ve cried it all out
Then she tells of her experiences and what it’s about.
She wipes your tears away then kisses your cheek
Never have I met someone so kind and meek.
God knew that I needed you
And I think that you needed me too.
Your heart is strong, your hands are soft
They are so warm and comfy like a pillowy loft.
Your hands work hard and serve the Lord
And for that He will reward.
A mom is someone special, a mom is someone kind
My whole life I’ve searched for you were my goal to find.

Premium Member The Broken Locket

A small cameo rests inside a velvet-lined chest
Its latch broken, there’s a faded picture inside,
A thumbnail-sized sketch of her handsome best
Has rested inside it since Great-Grandpa died.
Her cameo’s been treasured through the years
Passed through generations with loving care,
Which once was handled through flowing tears
Now is a shrine, revered with a lock of her hair.
Once it hung on a silver chain around her neck,
We occasionally saw her gently fondle it there
As she spoke of her lover, she gave it a peck,
Placing the lock of her braid with a loving flair.
Grandpa gave it to her on their wedding day
An extra special reminder of their marital bliss
It was something special, a family heirloom
Occasionally, I saw my mother give it a kiss.
The broken locket, a gift from a loving groom,
Merits a special honored place in my bedroom.

My First Sonnet

No clouds could grace the sky on such a day
'Tis too special a time, they know their place
Conformed to my word that I have my way
And sun never leavest thine pretty face

The inner beating of my finest race
Perfection is what I must realise
Although this stomach has now spun to lace
It sees forever smiles and brightest eyes

The most brilliant light did memorise
Avert impossible from fixed beauty
Flowed forward with the truest grace and prize
Reached out, hands entwined ready for duty

Eternal circles cause to start anew
Arrived detached, departed tied to you

Happy Jack is back on track
Took a bit of a break, I did
Need one every now and then
Emotional like a kid

Wear my feelings on my sleeve
For the whole wide world to see
Not ashamed, it's who I am
It sets my emotions free

Considered myself a lucky man
To feel this burning desire
Nothing special, a regular dude
But deep down inside, a fire

Glowing brighter than ever before
Alerting me to love up ahead
Sign says, “Proceed With Caution”
Chose to ignore it instead

Steam ahead, to hell with caution
Never find love if you hide
Be brave, plunge headlong into love
Go ahead and give it a try

Happy Jack is back on track
Took a bit of a break herewith
Everyone please just rest assured
The giggles will return forthwith
