SLEEPING WITH THE DEVIL'S WIFE
Some night you'll wake before morning
Sweatin to the oldies she will sing.
She'll make you think you're in Heaven...
Long enough to tell you ANYTHING...
And you'll believe her.
Some night you'll wake up hearing voices
Sweatin to the oldies of here life.
She'll never say you're in Heaven.
Or tell you you've been sleeping with the Devil's Wife.
She'll never tell you, you've been sleeping with the Devil's wife.
But you will KNOW.
You will know.
That's when you'll need her.
That's when you'll love her the most.
That's when you will die.
Sleeping with the Devil's wife.
That's when you will die.

Blackbird sings shrill at night, before day's dawn,
not now drowned by traffic's rumble sound,
nor returning early morning flight from Costa's Benidorm
to Heathrow's duller, grayer ground.
Now all is empty beach, and quieter lock-down street.
This strange unearthly morning still has only just begun,
has only just begun its start, is nowhere near complete.
And blackbird sits on hedge row top, or higher branch,
dark shadowed shape to rising glow.
And does he notice those below no longer make their way to work,
or turn the key where car is parked beside suburban curb?
Has he found this finer voice now humankind has lost its choice
to mask this far sublimer task of glory choral sound?
So sweetly sung, so sweetly hung between each silent pause.
It gains Creator's ear, soft ringing His applause,
while many sit in fear, shut still behind closed doors,
first hearing clear for many years this greater sound composed.
First hearing clear for many years: Creator's sound composed.
For night long
No sleep came
But song and song and song
Melting in the candles' flame
Of thought, fore I wrote them all
That with silvern flashes broke
The net and swam, and swam, and swam
In a pool gulping words, then choke
Upon the imagery of the lamb
Bleating where no shepherd hears it call.
I reeled them out and in again
Each rhyme a little hook
While the boat throbs with the strain
Of waves opening like a book.
Can you see my freckled sea
In the night all night long
My sleep tortured by a song
Glistening night, stars
Reflecting the joy, wonder
Peace, be still, enjoy
Soft nocturnal glow
Glittering memories, hopes
Soaring, winds praising
In moments, whispers
Graceful and whimsical, light
Rousing the wonders
Bidding the heart hope
Stirrings of faith, so bold, brave
Lingering in praise
Night blends peace and thrill
Taking away the darkness,
Embracing still warmth
Bleeding light on night,
Rising moon, starlight twinkling,
Moments of reason
Erasing darkness
Feeding the music with grace
Moonlight soothes with praise
It was a still October night when I was cold and all alone
as through the forest of my mind in thought I wandered on my own
The moon lay hidden by the clouds that rested heavy on my eyes
and as I stumbled through the dark I felt the wind begin to rise
I heard my name upon the wind as he was flying through the night
he called to me to come to him so he could take me on his flight
In soothing tones he spoke to me, his voice sang gentle through my mind
and in a flowing melody he spoke of wonders I would find
The wind sang out to me that night and with his song I was entranced
and it was windward my thoughts turned as in my heart his tempest danced
But still my feet stayed on the ground for I was too afraid to fly
and as the wind washed over me in mournful howls I heard him cry
As indecision split my mind my eyes were stinging with my tears
and tenderly with his caress he tried to ease me from my fears
Across my face his gentle breath had blown the clouds out of my eyes
and then he summoned to the moon who came to light my darkened skies
And when the moon had risen high his servants came into my sight
these waiting visions that I saw were whispers in the silver light
They came to carry me to him who now is waiting there for me
they said they'd help me find my way into his arms where I'd fly free
They said they wouldn't let me fall, they told me that they understand
and so I let them lead the way as I had given them my hand
Then I was lifted off the ground and we were soaring through the sky
and as I came into his arms he took away my fear to fly
Above the earth he carried me and as I watched it spin around
from in the heavens I could see all of the wonders to be found
I'll fly forever in his arms, among the stars where I will play
across the never ending sky, the spinning world so far away
Upon the wind you'll hear my song as we are sailing through the sky
and joyous is the song I sing as we are scaling ever high
I am alive upon the wind, I'm flying in his arms tonight
and like an echo I will fade as we are blowing out of sight......
Inspired by Elaine Georges' Tell Me A Story contest
Hey there, how are you?
Would you like to
Leave with me?
Darling lets go now.
You know how
I want to leave
We'll go to the edge where we had our first date.
We both loved the place. We said one day our fate
Would take us there.
Let our lives be spared.
Lets go to the top.
This can't be stopped
By anyone.
The edge is so high.
We'll fall through the sky
Towards the Friday night lights.
Take my hand and one, two, three we'll go.
We'll give the city below the best show
They will ever see.
Lets be a memory.
As we fall,
The lights they call,
"Come to us, join us in this dance of misery"
As we fall from so high,
Slicing the sky,
I only see you, beautiful and true to me.
We bleed,
On Friday night lights.
I was heading to the bunkhouse, after a wild night on the town
dancing & romancing & one too many round
Back in my wild & woolly days, one more rowdy Saturday night
full of cheap beer & whiskey & the necessary fight
I set Ol' Gus on auto pilot, he knew the way back to the spread
And I set to fighting with those rotgut demons dancing in my head
We were getting pretty close to home, so I eased up on the bit
when all of a sudden that dang horse he up & quit
His ears were all pricked forward, listening quite intense
I caught a drift of what might pass for music, somewhere beyond the fence
It took a lot of persuading, cussing & cajoling
but I got ol' Gus headed for all the caterwauling
the sound got more peculiar as we crested the hill
the memory of what I saw that moonlit night stays with me still
for I had stumbled on a peculiar party, hosted by a peg leg dog
and there was a one eyed pole cat doing comedic monologue
A Blueberry Roan soon took the stage, singing Motley Crue
I swear I saw a big ol' ornery hog with a "born to squeal" tattoo
There were bulls & Heifers dancing, I couldn't believe my eyes
why those bovine wore spikes and body piercings, in places utterly unwise
There where horses with mohawk hairdos head banging to the song
I swear to you, Ol' Gus, he began to sway & sing along
Now I know what you're thinking & I most heartily agree
it was the moon & wind playing tricks, along with rotgut whiskey
You city folks can keep your pink elephants parading in tutus
for this cowboy was shown the light by a Roan in blue suede shoes
I gave up hell raising & carousing, said so long to the honky-tonk life
Happy now to stick to ranching & dancing under the moon with my wife
But every now & again, when the wind blows & the moon is shining bright
I swear I can hear the livestock laughing & head banging through the night
In the night the marsh cricket cries,
Ringing through the starless still
A song of aurora skies.
A pale gray moon, listening, sighs,
No wind rippling the watermill
In the night the marsh cricket cries.
Shearing the dark a lost bird flies,
The melody shivers in the chill
A song of aurora skies.
Hours before forgotten sunrise,
Ants dare venture from their hill
In the night the marsh cricket cries.
Beneath the marsh water millions of eyes,
Shameless creatures drink in their fill
A song of aurora skies.
There are no fears, there are no lies
They cannot understand this thrill
In the night the marsh cricket cries
A song of aurora skies.
I am still walking, walking, walking...
Where to, I don't know, yet.
I entrust myself to you again.
And, as on thin fragile ice,
I am still walking, walking, walking...
I am still walking, walking, walking...
In a stream of days, in a circle of events.
And more I explore the more interesting sense I get,
No matter if it's a pleasure or a trouble.
I am still walking, walking, walking...
And even if my Land is too far away
And my Distant Island is behind the Seas,
I will leave my look of sadness
In a Maze of my night dreams.
I will dissolve my trouble with my hands.
I am walking to you, my Prophetess...
I am still walking, walking, walking...
l pass the strangers faces.
I do not sleep at night at all.
I steal my night dreams from my time.
I am still walking, walking, walking...
Tonight I plan to go out and enjoy my time
With some folks of mine that love red wine
There is no reason to say where we go
It could be a bar, or maybe my own home.
I just want to steal away somewhere no one cares
And enjoy a glass of wine that all wish to share
I need a small vacation that lets me relax my mind
Just being alone doesn’t let me unwind.
I beg all of you to come and convey this with me
Hello my associates, why are you strangers to be
Come over there is so much to pass around
I want to take your time that was not found.
Maybe a Merlot, a Cabernet, or Burgundy for you
You see I have them all, and they are all very true.
If my home is not good enough, we could go to the bar,
And order a beer or a glass of Champaign which lasts far.
Anyway the night is young and my pallet is still dry
I would walk far to have a group of my kin nearby
No, loneliness is not good enough, today and evermore
My wine awaits me this moment more and more.
At last I heard a drum beating far away
A beautiful melody played a song this way
My friends heard my cry and were marching forth
How I smiled with joy and sang along of course.
The song continued to chant well into the night
With many toasts of happiness crossing the sight
My kin called me a lover of red wine filled with desire
It was a heavenly group that I shared with and admired.
When the moment came to an end
We parted giggling loudly around the bend
My wishes of a night with red wine came true
And all who came and left were not just a few.
Good night I will remember my companions well
You gave me a holiday that I can awake and retell
Farewell and goodbye until we toast another time
My lips are wet now and experienced great wine.
In a room stark & white
A nightmare he will ride tonight
Twisted sheets in a rider's grip
as he settles in for that fateful trip
silently he screams & shouts
This time there'll be no turn out
The final clash of beast & man
In the mind's arena plays out again
Once was a time he was among the best
Until that Brahma stepped on his chest
Now he's locked in a ride he can't quit
as his wife & his family at his bedside sit
How he longs to be up & out of this bed
Away from the demons in his head
But you can't drown a nightmare in morphine
And every night he rigs up again
In a room stark & white
She'll replay the ride tonight
"Just one more ride & I'm done
I've got to help raise our son"
He'd said as he climbed in the chute
and straddled that Brahma brute
With a nod & a prayer, he marked out
His last would be his best, no doubt
Then, with a sudden twist & a flash of horn
The cowboy from his seat was torn
She watched him fall & struggle to rise
Numb to the crowd's horrified cries
Now she sits here each night without rest
Cradling their baby boy close to her chest
How she longs to have him hold her near
Later, she reaches for the bottle to chase the fear
But you can't drown a nightmare in whiskey
And every night she rigs up again
Under the arena's bright lights
He'll dance with a nightmare tonight
Wearing a greasepaint smile to hide the pain
He plays out that fateful ride again
One step out of rhythm & rhyme
He'd lost the race against Brahma & time
Word's haunt him still of a Cowboy's last request
After that Brahma had stomped on his chest "Tell Katie I love her & I'm sorry for this"
"If I'd listened to her, I'd not be in this mess"
"You & the boys take care of her & my son"
"I hear the chopper landing, guess this ride is done"
How he wishes he could run that race once more
The memory pushes him hard, it won't be ignored
But you can't mask a nightmare with greasepaint
And every night he rigs up again
A wild Bullrider, loved one or clown
no matter the poison the memory won't drown
Nightmares, whiskey, greasepaint or morphine
Can't kill the demons that ride through your dreams
Sing a song,
To woo you all night long.
The singer enrapturing and beautiful,
Sending her love for song.
To her audience,
Man to adore and so much more.
The serpent in the garden of Eden,
Temptation beyond compare.
Carefully sending her tonic soh fah,
Disguised as a contemporary song.
All night long the song is heard,
Like the beautiful nightingale and song bird.
Caressing the wind like a warm summer breeze,
God's love disguised yet heard, a divinity.

MUSICK NONnude Review
CHarlaxFabels
Grand Funk Railroad was a fave group of mine the best time eye ever had was in
a house on a rug listening to this song of hard rock and rhinocerous thumps.
Wait. FOGHAT was the best for sex but lucky mee was never a Catholic. The
Horns blew for Chicago and there was lots of other groups to make this fable
bleed there was the Creedence Clearwater Revival so cool so wonderful a thing.
John Fogarty sure must have been a saint. Eye wish he had not got so mad and
left the other members of his group. But Creedence Song became a new fave
thing.
Daddy had a band
Played him a little guitar
Traveled in a van
Livin' that rock and roll
Night after night
People comin' up to the bandstand
Say you can't go wrong
If you play a little bit of that
Creedence song
It was late one night
Cruisin' on down the interstate
Stopped into a diner
To get him some chili and fries
Heard the waitress tell a guy
Standin' over by the jukebox
Hey you can't go wrong
If you play a little bit of that
Creedence song
Well daddy took a shine
To the lil' girl behind the counter
She movin' her hips to the swamp beat
Right on time
Said could he play her somethin'
Over there on the jukebox
She said you can't wrong
If you play a little bit of that
Creedence song
Daddy had a plan
He asked that girl to marry
With a brand new wife
They're livin' on rock and roll
Night after night
She whispers oh so sweetly
Hey you can't go wrong
If you play a little bit of that
Creedence song
(2nd part continued)
Then late one night before coosie did howl,
I woke up and took me a walk by chance,
Down by the sleepin’ cow herd and ol’ Rowel
When I heard his soft song and watched his dance.
He was just waltzin’ alone off his mount,
Like some ballroom dancer that was plum mad—
Kept twirlin’ around more than I could count—
It was all sort of comical yet sad.
I crept away thinkin’ then I’d done wrong
And climbed back in my bedroll on the range—
But I could still hear that night hawker’s song
And in my mind that lonely dance seemed strange.
Summers last forever for a young buck,
Yet somehow for me this one seemed too short—
But I knew my fate had changed with my luck
And that old chaff blew away in the sort.
Then one day Rowel packed gear in a hurry—
And I knew I’d heard his last herder’s song—
Said he was headin’ home to Missouri—
That he’d been at the ol’ dance much too long.
Then Rowel said something I still remember
About livin’ out your life as you age:
He said savor sunsets in September,
Because life’s a short sashay on the sage.
So now night herds are silently sleepin’—
And for years I’ve been here where I belong—
The night herder’s song is in my keepin’
And I sing it as I dance to the song.
MY LOVER’S LULLABY
Her song is of the night so sweet
Her feel is of a gentle breeze
A song that lifts lashes to freeze
O! My love your song make me glow
Your night fragrance makes me a watchman
Sleep my love sleep let your heart beat of me
Let your love pour out like breads bam
Your braid my night toy and I flow
His song arouse my tenderness
His touch at night gives me freshness
O! My love you are my pomegranate
Your lips ah! Your chest is of magnate
How I die for you to live my love
Touch me and feed of me your dove
Love me as you‘ve always done
Hurry and tenderly before the day’s brightness
Let my love be your night light
My love I see you clear and bright
To you I sing an ever-loving ode
And your children are mine till old
He is my pride and diction
She is real and not a fiction
My love is her hymn and hum
My touch is his dream and we zmmmmm
