Best Shiv Poems
Oh, let us write of gentler things
Still wondering why “the caged bird sings”*
Or rise upon a thermal shaft
Of feathers drawn upon first draft
Or watch the sullied surf subside
As clean-up crew of ocean’s pride
Oh, let us dull the razor’s edge
And loudly sign a silence pledge
Deny the forest’s right to live
While sharpening the traitor’s shiv
Or are we but a single voice
Muted by the rising noise
Oh, let us cloak our metaphor
In words both good and bad adore
Hone it with sarcasm's wit
So both sides will lay claim to it
And chuckle as our pens run dry
Our ink the tears that poets cry

I love all those who are never seen
Either met those or I keen to meet
From rural generous to urban polished
Either created or have been abolished
I love the wonders of this world
The covert nature guards so well
From those having no time to spend
Who will not lift the ocean's shell
I love the existence of the God
I love too who having atheist nature at all
Please, believe me when I say
Everlasting SHIV, heel pain what may

Leela is Mahadev's creation
Of the creation here
To write Leela, we have been
Originated from creation here
Colouring with all the breath
In mind day night
In the greatness of devotion
There is no relation's fight
The ladder is held by the SHIV
MAHADEV is a sweet name
With devotion and determination
The song of Shiva's Prem
Hariman is the name of BHAKT
Not all actions are celebrated part
Evils of accumulated wealth of few
The knot of the many broken heart

I may be all wet, but I sure ain't no bluenose!
And, while it's none of my beeswax,
Let's have a bull session-lesson !
Take a gander around, and tell the guy with the cheaters
I'll give him an ear-full, if he'll just hang around
There's a gatecrasher here..., I heard, on the level
He's zozzled on hooch, a big lollygagger!
He staggered in blotto, with a ciggy on his lips
Sipping on bootleg, and lookin' for whoopee!
He's the fall guy, (I've heard), for a weird, double cross
Here comes the hoofer, the one with the gams
That vamp is a pushover, a gun- moll, man chaser
A real hotsy-totsy!, she dresses real spiffy
Her toy is a shiv, she's the Jane, Real McCoy,
makes a sap out of guys, who carry a torch
Bumps them off, on their own front porch !
And that's the "Big Cheese", who runs the speakeasy
He thinks he's high hat, but is full of baloney
He gives all the dames, the real "heebie-jeebies"
Just a poor drug-store cowboy... filled with nothin' but hooey
Hard-boiled. they come, gold-diggers and hoods
I've been beating my gums, and I'm dying of thirst
This is the berries, been the real bees knees!
Oh, it has been swell, while chewing the fat!
But, facts are the facts, on the up and up
Well, bye, Buttercup,......the jig is up
I'm serious Sam, in a serious jam
The truth of the matter is, that I'm on the lam
You don't know for nothin', stay out of a pickle !...
Remember my friend, don't take wooden nickels !!

Ganapati is a son of one of the Trinity God Shiv & Parvati.
Parvati created him out her power, placed him at entrance
To keep vigil, allow none as she wanted to go for a bath.
Shiv, her husband came and was stopped by Ganapati.
Shiv got angry and cut off his head, as being an outsider.
Parvati grieved too much for the loss of her own creation.
Shiv ordered servants to bring head of any animal asleep
Elephant ‘head brought, Shiv placed it on Ganapati’s body.
Thus Ganapati is having the trunk- head of an elephant.
She was still not happy and wanted more boon for her son.
Then Shiv granted an additional boon to please Parvati.
People will worship him before beginning new undertaking
Obstacles if any will be removed for all the true devotees.
Five faced Ganapati relates to embodiment of all potencies
They symbolize the five fleshes in the subtle anatomy felt.
The flesh body, the breath or energy body, mental body
Body of upper consciousness and body of Cosmic bliss.
The fifth body being the highest level of Yogic experience.
Thus the five days of celebration is for that five potencies
First day-atonement, amends of misdeeds like Thanksgiving.
Create vibration of love & harmony among family members.
Second day among neighbors, relatives and close friends
Create harmony among business associates on the 3rd day
For arts, culture, music, dance and religion on the 4th day
On last day experience love, tranquility from God Himself.

The rain-god bursts in Himalaya regions
With snow-covered mountains and deep forests
There’s Kedar temple for Hindu pilgrims
Coming to worship the god in thousands
Sanctum Sanctorum inside the temple
Of Kedar revered by millions of Hindus
A bleak picture of purses, bags and shoes
All personal things lay strewn in ample.
Outside the temple vandals had free hand
Houses, cars and what not flooding in
Thousands of people dead or stranded
Millions waiting to hear about their end
There’s no right or wrong way to cope with pain
Time, can renew and permit you to mend.

Contest : Grief by Shadow Hamilton
9th place win
The Kedarnath temple, one of the four pilgrimage centre for Hindus world over, is in the Himalayas at the height of 13,500 feet. There was a cloud bursts and then heavy rainfall which was about 375 percent more than the benchmark rainfall during a normal monsoon. It is feared that 20,000 people have died. This happened around 14th to 17th June, 2013. There is a news now that the temple will reopen. On 1st of October i.e. after nearly 95 days. Surprisingly, there is no danger to the idols of the Deity Shiv or Nandi , the bull.

Incineration of Love God Madan Cupid
4 of Many
Originally written in Hindi by my late father Dr. Amar Nath Kapoor

Madan Dahan- Hindi name
Part 04
The Glory of 2nd Age (Treta Yug)
The youthful prime period of Satyug,
Was at the verge of fading by now,
And the force of delusion had entered,
On the lovely Earth of Gods.
In such golden age of Gods,
Only Shiv* the God of destruction,
Was lost in deep contemplation,
To acquire the power of destruction.
To destroy delusion's opulence,
By the power of soul's force,
Created by the sacrifice of self,
And sufferings of the senses.

Epic
He has the chiseled features of a handsome Nordic God,
With perfectly placed brown eyes beneath a noble brow.
A skilled sculptor planed those cheekbones up so very high
And decided a deep dimple to his chin to then endow.
His arms are strong but gentle and make me feel so safe.
I want to be held in them as long as I shall live.
He has a sunny nature and he’d rather love than fight.
Before I’d give him up, I’d rather have my heart pierced with a shiv.
For twenty years he’s filled my life with unadulterated joy,
And is a loving father to his daughters and his son.……..
And now this present is the past, it has been fifty years,
Since God sent angels for him and I felt my life was done.
I have his features firmly planted in my heart and mind.
I see them when I’m sleeping and every minute I’m awake.
As I’m aging he grows younger and more handsome every day,
But I’m hoping in God’s Heaven that will not a problem make.

A lovely young lady with a winning smile
She and friends; out on the town for a little while
Young friends checking out the scene; having fun
See and be seen; each hoping to meet a special someone
Across the room, stands a handsome lad
But as some lads are; this one is bad
This saucy lass has a wicked wit
She turns on her charms, flirts a bit
The gantlet is thrown; in this courtship dance
Young lad invites her to go for a ride; take a chance
Out in the country along a darkened route
Not a soul to hear her scream; nor hear her shout
He took much more than she was willing to give
Then takes her life with his long bladed shiv
Now there is blood by the side of the road where she lay
Another young beauty; ravaged; lo savaged
And simply thrown away

Neptune's Gift, An Angel's Love
Should greater and longer years be given me
I can only thank the love of my angel in white
Such gentleness from her calm and loving sea
destroyed all the monsters in my epic fight
Neptune did her his powerful Trident give
to easily cease the evil mind blowing wind
One great plunge in with such a mighty shiv
brought those dark winded furies to an end
Sent were peaceful sea creatures big and small
giding me ever towards that beckoning light
Always away from sea monsters great and tall
into a soothing morn following a peaceful night
Why was a happier and greater love so freely gifted
Why indeed, was this poor, miserable soul so uplifted!

I am a prophet of peace,
A procurer of leaves;
Catcher of breeze.
Visions of thieves?
No such disease
I live in the trees.
Free from taxes and fees.
Share it with me?
Comparatively, believe
unless you're bereaved
to heave
a shiv
into thine rift
of sand that sifts.
I do uplift
my fist
to the outspoken
of wrist
to tap, even if a twit,
on this pit,
the internet skit.

LET ME NEVER stoop to disavowing the truth
Neither “looking lovingly” askance at a hurtful lie
NOR OF PEOPLE “sleeping soundly” from an anesthesia
Called purposefully abetting, forgetting to evade the shiv
Of justice wielded with forthright insight, you see,
For without “judicial justness” it is clear our nation
Cannot long endure, much less, I must confess, heal
And continue to be the nation we laud as our country.

Religions
The entire Budhist monk"s life is but a preperation,
For his Death Point or moment of seperation.
The Jains have santhara,
Quitting life consciously to join with the paramatma.
The hindus go into samadhi,
Where there is no Congress,Shiv Sena,BJP or Samajwadi.
The Christian merges with the holy spirit,
Peace no more desperate.
The sufi mystic to become one,
Dances, twirls, prays, trances to get the job done.
Aghora means illumined with light,
Longing for Shiva in whom they delight.
Shamanism or the art of ecstacy,
The ultimate being one with the super entity.
There is no need to change your faith,
And on your old religion lay a wreath.

Chiseled bone fibre silences white noise water
Shiv splits through throat, jugular scissored
Flung spray fusillade's lain flat slaughter
Bluster bullseye stabs canvas concave
Albatross follow our sharp slipstream
Wind vane spins blur invisible
Dolphin pod adjacent symbol
Ludicrous becomes our lucid dream
Green glaze wake calms crazed waves
Plunge smashes panic, pindrop pools surface
Instinctive dive into icy effervescence
Jolts flailing heart buoyed purpose
Castaways tack to breeze's best advantage
Seahorse spawns, cloud coral hammock
Hull pointed toward demand
Relentless racing hour hand
Gathered globe gauges chances gigantic
Skippers puncture tides, shark agile voyage

Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
The spiv hid in the shadows said
(The devil's in the marketing)
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
The silver moon slid shivering
Along his shiv, Or this instead
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
The spiv hid in the shadows said
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
It love you long time that for sure
(The devil's in the marketing)
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
The pimp said as a passing king
Threw thirty pennies on the floor
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
It love you long time that for sure
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
The artist and the writer sighed
(The devil's in the marketing)
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
A feather from an angel's wing
Fell fluttering but no-one died
Psst wanna buy a pretty thing
The artist and the writer sighed
