Best Shelve Poems

Bye Yesterday, Hello Today

Bring a cup and fetch my Tears,
Because tomorrow has been for Years.
Life challenges, my favorite Seat,
As my fear dances to my Heartbeat.

Day and night, I don't Care,
As poverty, the cloth i Wear.
Happiness travels in Dreams,
Yet with hope,possible it Seems.

Drunk, a way to Forget.
Yet once awake, it's time to Regret.
Questions, i ask Myself,
Even though no answers on my Shelve.

Here i am slowly Sinking,
In that ocean called Thinking.
As a new day keeps Wishing,
Maybe Faith is what's Missing.

After all is said and Done
Like the rise of a new Sun,
The hope for a better Tomorrow,
Is the path i have chosen to Follow.

Premium Member Don'T Be Crying

Don't be crying, if you have been sleepwalking
Don't be crying, if you are lost and stumbling
Don't be crying, if walking the wrong road
Don't be crying, its time to lighten the load

Verse 1

Time to be yourself, for you to stand up and shine
Be kind and gentle, just gracious, loving and fine
Learn to love this life, all the sublime and divine
In sweet nature entwine

Don't be crying, just let me show you the way
Don't be crying, because this is a new day
Don't be crying, stop, there is no need for you to pray
Don't be crying, and let me take you away

Verse 2

Let the light in, find your compassion
Move past all your boundaries and fix what is broken
Be free and stand on the edge of the ocean
No tension

Don't be crying, listen to your wake up call
Don't be crying, enjoy big things and the small
Don't be crying, let each new step be breezy
Don't be crying, just let happiness be your journey

Verse 3

Sometimes we just stumble and sleepwalk through life
Cut sorrow with an imaginary knife
Find your purpose, believe in yourself
Get off the shelve

Don't be crying, go ahead and get it done
Don't be crying, be free and enjoy the fun
Don't be crying, fly high like the mighty eagle
Don't be crying, do this and your life will be tranquil

Repeat last 2 lines and fade to zero . . . .

Oh Uhura - To Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah

There was a Starship Enterprise,
It was the ruler of the skies,
But you don't really care for sci-fi, do you?
With Captain Kirk
And Mr Spock
And don’t forget the trademark jock,
And there upon the bridge you’ll find Uhura

Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura
Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura

You’ll find Bones Macoy down in sickbay,
“I’m a doctor Jim” he’d say,
And cure whatever space bug ran through you,
He’ll banish away every cough,
Even if your name’s Chekov,
Or perhaps you might be sweet Uhura

Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura
Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura

To make the starship up and go,
The man you really need to know,
Is the Helm officer called Sulu,
But if it’s a message you’d like to send,
Then of course you can depend,
Upon the talented Miss Uhura,

Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura
Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura

Your voyage lasted three short years
But despite the trekkie’s fears,
It wouldn’t be the last time that we’d view you,
Of feature films there’d be twelve,
Before the franchise they would shelve,
But we won’t forget you dear Uhura

Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura
Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura
Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura
Oh Uhura, Oh Uhura

Oh Uhura

The Long Count Calendar, Cycle One Ends

The Long Count Calendar, Cycle One Ends

December twenty-first, two thousand and twelve –
The Mayan long count calendar sets sights on that year.
Are there ecological and cosmic questions to delve?
Is it time for modern man to panic and fear?

The reckoning at hand, according to Mayans,
Began with the creation of the world.
Then, the sky still lay on the primordial sea, black
And the long count calendar began time’s whirl.

Man has traveled a long way on life’s stage.
Throughout time to beyond the information age,
Amazing discoveries have and will come to man
Since before and after the scientific method began.

End of the world theories run rampant these days.
Promulgated by televisions entertaining ways.
History Channel’s “Decoding the Past”
Brought on many doomsday sequels…and fast.

Did the galactic alignment of nineteen, ninety, eight
Begin the wake of a super-massive black hole fate?
Or will a geomagnetic reversal mark earth’s end?
Can we know when the apocalypse will begin?

The Holy Bible says no one knows when.
Upon that premise, hope over fear may win.
Have faith and see what NASA has to say
About that previously predicted calendar day.

Polarity change takes thousands of years.
And it doesn’t affect planetary alignments
There is no huge planet heading for earth.
So, predictions need realignment.

Be faithful; and with Christ live a thousand years.
Even if the apocalypse does start, put fears on shelve.
What will really happen in two thousand and twelve?
Cycle two of the Mayan long count calendar will begin.

Writer's Block

Hours spent in wondering
About absolutely nothing –
The unwritten poem
Too routine to read,
Too dreary to discuss.

Contemplating what could have been
Belief in magical endings –
Impossible outcomes
Too stunning to let go
Too enchanted to write off.

I’ll write it
Yet don’t
Still hoping to receive
Some sign
Not to shelve it…

You’ve got the right idea!
Just go with it.
Free flow
Sans censorship.

There’s no rhyme here
Just extensive obstruction.
No reason for longing
After something
That simply cannot be…

What could live up to
These –
Impossible expectations?

Even if you won’t return
These feelings,
Please
Don’t let me go.

Where To Find a Smile

Being happy is found deep within ourselves...
It can't be bought or found on a empty shelve...
Nor can it be copied or stolen from another smile...
It has to be built from the bottom up with a loving style...
When it comes around hold it tight with respect and care...
It can easily be swiped away from a life not fair...

Don'T Give In

Remember surrender is something you choose
to stop painful cuts and refrain from bruise,
it's an excuse you use in order to lose,
but if you go again in vain against the grain
you could obtain a gain that gains momentum
and one moment of mounting passion
could amount to you moving mountains,
outing the doubt in yourself
and neglecting the negative that lives
with nothing to give but sabotage gifts
will see fate shift winds
that rescind the s**t stain self opinion you let live on the shelve
and with all that's yours you can endure escape from the jaws of defeat,
do not allow yourself be beat,
feel your heart that still beats,
if it's not still you're able to compete,
just don't start to weep
and be aware you're not weakened
enough yet to see a bleak end.
Why give in when you can begin,
if you didn't win just take it on the chin,
don't ever let it break you down within,
instead of give in, begin, and you can still win.

Premium Member Deliver Your Dreams

Delve into the mindset of a blank page
and you will find your imgination
Shelve all your realities and uncage,
you will arrive at your destination ...

Dispense your words and open the gate
let your mirages guide you through
Immense are the stories that can't wait
when you dip your nib into ink of blue

Deliver your dreams onto the reader
they await your daydreams too
Surrender your heart and consider
sharing it all, with the few...

Delve into the chalky milky vastness
and harness your creative juice
Shelve all your worries, for its a bless
to be able to create like a muse .

Premium Member The Wedding Shoes

I recall the day we put on our brand new shoes,
yours were smooth dark leather and mine white heels;
after we said I do we walked those shoes out of the church,
at the reception we danced our first dance and all the ones after that.

The best part for me was later when we went for a stroll,
you and me and our shoes alone by the deep blue sea finally married;
on the sand we removed our shoes and walked barefoot,
and finally we lay together under the stars and the moon.

Walking back you picked me up and swung me around,
my white shoes had wings and you were like a mighty forest tree;
your shoes firm on the ground- I never felt so save in my life,
I still have your wedding shoes my darling, I keep them on a shelve.

I never imagined you would be but a name engraved . . .

Premium Member Ode To William Henry Harrison

My ode to William Henry Harrison, 9th President
of the United States, yet barely known.
A Founding Father’s son and longtime frontier resident,
Brave military leader to the bone.

His victories in uniform stacked up along the way,
rarely defeated at the battle line.
As President, though, died in office one month to the day,
now nobody remembers Number Nine.

He served the House of Representatives a term or two;
in politics, he always did excel.
First Governor of Indiana Territory, too -
Ohio’s 13th Senator, as well.

As Major General, Will fought the War of 1812,
as well as several wars along the way.
His worth, though, as a President, historians will shelve
for lasting only one month to the day.

He married sweetheart Anna in the Fall of ’95,
she bore her husband many children - ten!
Although her health was poor, Anna was Queen Bee to the hive,
their son’s son: future POTUS, Benjamin.

There’s no one I would rather have protect my garrison,
though in the end pneumonia held its sway.
A military hero, William Henry Harrison -
Ninth President, just one month to the day.

Am Worth It

Sometimes i hit the store
purchase oldest pirates wine on the shelve.
Other times,
i take me out to a classy restaurant
dine mercilessly on the delicacies my tummy can handle.
But most times,
haha!this is my favorite!
I order new sweet scented shampoos and body sprays
right before they hit the shop floor
each for a new day;
to match my moods and feelings!
Oh!and ah,
DHL honking on my drive way
to deliver artifacts is also becoming quite a habit.

People don't understand why
"whats the point?" they wonder.
Why do all that for me?
Some say i am a material gal,
well,
there is no question about that.
But still,
they don't see the logic behind it!

most times,
i used to do it for fun,
to feel good,
to reward thy self,
for therapy,
or maybe,
because i have the means,
or to punish his highness with the invoice
when he doesn't keep his word.
Haha!
Really,
i don't know,
i didn't know either,
not till i realized;
ITS BECAUSE AM WORTH IT!

Am worth. The Tiffany diamonds and Akoya pearls flashing on me.
am worth. The hot air balloon ride across the Masai Mara,
am worth. That skinny dive at the Maldives,
am worth.A leisure shopping weekend in Dubai,
am worth. To be the countess, the duchess, the trophy wife,
am worth.All the finesse.
yeah!
Am worth. That priceless smile and the deep secrets,
am worth. All your appreciation and affection,
am worth. The sacrifice and the commitment,
am worth.Stability and fidelity,
am worth. The tears and the pain,
am worth.your unconditional forgiveness and faith,
am worth. The joy, peace and happiness,
am worth. All your trust, respect and endless love,
am worth. That extra mile, care and attention.
Indeed,
like the elusive 'milky way',
am definitely worth the find among the heavens.

so,
excuse me darling,
i need to sit back,
work on my tan,
and sip this Ruby Rose Cocktail,
because baby;
you know am worth the bill.
yeah that's right!
Am worth your name,
your dime,
your time
and your life!
Haha!
Cheeerrrssss!!!

Unite Africa

In ages past we sent letters to Freedom
With tattered inks on our dirty page,
The letters returned with beaming smiles,
Raising up flowers through our dried stem.

Back then, we warred against Principalities,
Now we war against ourselves on same shelve;
Siblings against siblings in African-made rings,
Drinking blood from the burnt through our local fire.

Look, we now have pirated Blacks within our walls,
Scary to our children, marrying our wives.
We throw stones on each other's doors,
Pointing black fingers to a black skin.

Let's rise on our feet not for a feast,
Let's weave colors to make our rainbow,
Let's beat not drums made from human skin,
Let's rise and display our heights.

Let the lamp of Love dance upon the pyramids of Egypt,
Revealing Mountain Kilimanjaro in Tanzania,
Through the rock of Olumo in Nigeria,
Warming the greenness of South Africa's Canyon.
.
Africa unite!

It's Up To You

You’ who have a Holy Bible sitting on a shelve.
Do you read, study, search? For your spiritual selves?
The most given sold book on this earth,
Has been around long before our earthly births.

Two thousand years ago our Savior Jesus was born.
A time when men and woman prayed with incense a Mohr.
A time of loss hope, captivity, oppression, from the Roman army, life was very bleak.
Three men, a star, a vision, a prophecy, fulfilled in Scriptures it was quite a week.

From the start He was a traveler with his mother Mary and father Joseph to Egypt, fleeing from King Herod.
Telling the Holy men he wanted to honor Him, but in reality Herod wanted His head.
The Father always present showed Jesus’ parents the way to safety.
Time of course took its toll, Herod died, Jesus returned home to fulfill His destiny.

Of course all with Bibles know the rest of the story.
Our Savior lived, taught, proclaimed the coming Kingdom, was crucified, and He fulfilled His loving glory.
Death conquered by Christ is a gift to “Us” loves for carnal man that the Father lovingly gives.
A new way, a loving way, a spiritual way given to we to make us spiritually live.

Simple brethren, be vigil, have love for others, you’ll see.
A new horizon given to us by the Father spiritually.
Take your Bible down of the shelf, off the table, study, you’ll get what you seek, the Holy Spirit.
Simply ask God for His forgiveness and His blessings as you study, live by His every word, listening you’ll hear it.

So it’s up to you, this is for you to decide.
Your very existences count on it, or are you going to go along, and toss the dice and let everything ride?
Simply said my brethren shake off the cobwebs, dust off the Holy Bible, read the “Word” have faith, be vigil, and count on Him.
The Holy Spirit, if God wills, will enter into you and Jesus and the Father will thrive, as they lead you to the eternal Kingdom.

Bad Me

Clap trap
Shelve it
Read it with a Helmet
End it
Send it with a warning
Beyond boring
Worthy of only ignoring
Painful outpouring of nothing
Nothing here worth discussion
Might as well have been written in Russian
F -
Worse than silence
This is me
Reading back me
Honestly
But it's me
And I agree
Bottom of the Christmas Tree
Is my badly wrote present
Wrapped in decoration
Without a card
As writing is hard
If you are not a Bard
Words walk tarred through unsettling roads
On deaf ears
In the midday sun
Of summers past
The shadows pass
On broken glass
