Sir Richard Branson - Rocket Man
There was a boy who had not fared well at school
Years gone by and no one could call him a fool
Now a business tycoon and philanthropist
Virgin records, first venture on his checklist.

The owner of the Virgin Group he became
An entrepreneur with stand out claim to fame
Though it was not always a smooth sailing ride
He took the failures and mishaps in his stride.

Sir Richard Branson, born in nineteen fifty
Dyslexia made school a difficulty
That didn’t stop him chasing his ambition
He was determined to follow his vision.

A star in the making he just would not quit
Nothing and no one would stand in way of this
Each successful venture led to another
Outer space was the quest above all other.

Exploring space travel Sir Richard wished to do
Virgin Galactic has made the dream come true
This year SpaceShipTwo made its first test flight
The six on board had the journey of their life.

Sir Richard’s virtue is a lesson to all
His charitable kindness defines his call
We have to admire this boundless superman
May he continue for as long as he can.

It goes to show however humble life starts
Determination can fly one to the stars.

I'm rather hard to figure out
Not many really get what I'm about
I'd rather sit quietly than shout
I keep it real I'm not prone to pout
You might think me passive
Still I will act
when others are subdued by doubt

Somewhat serious
Yet prone to smile
Not ecstatic I have my own style
If you need comfort I'll stay with you a while
Don't expect much talking
I'm a listener on the emoticom dial

As a poet
I know the power of the word
In the end I like to hear and be heard
Like you I too have been burned
Within adversity there were things I learned

I am a dancer
Stepping out on pages
Quiet paper oragami cages
Traveling on thoughts
Floating through all my stages

Fast forward rewinding
Pausing at my distance
Like the Borg victims there is no resistance
I breathe my thoughts with a certain persistence

If you look at me
I might reflect you
Searching for answers
Seeing beyond dark corridors
To places bright blue
Perhaps you as well
Like me
are an enigma too!

Poetry In Motion Challenge From Richard & Mary

Turbulent impervious obsidian lifeless world clouds God's compassionate
betrothed faithful prayer family.
Moonlight joy havens awestruck love elation.
Aquamarine wave spirits hot desire
beyond passion.
Lilac crescent sky petals.
Life bliss vows hope peace freedom melody.
Azure northern light winds kiss calm stars.

What does it take, to be so kind,
to every fault and flaw, be blind
a goodly word, always to find
and wounded heart with love to bind?

Ask Richard!

What does it to take, to give a smile
To stop and chat and hug a while
and kind words on a heart to pile
to make encouragement, a style

Ask Richard!

What does it take to be real sweet
With words of life and light to greet
To leave behind a tasty treat
of loving words, it's not a feat

Ask Richard!

For Richard does it all so well
His kindness works a magic spell
If you want truth, it's truth he'll tell
He'll help the storms of life to quell

That's Richard.
Yes, oh yes, that's Richard!

This poem was inspired by Richard Lamoureux's comment on my poem, Don't Belittle Me:

I would never! I only wish to build you up. I enjoy being in the company of Royalty.

Figure of a man, constantly open

Poetry marriage that makes him richer

Her heart and beauty a gift so golden

Separate it would change, die, and wither

Friendship woven his unfailing embrace

Knowing not about him; external blessed

Through unassuming nature God gives grace

Gratitude words spoken his life expressed

Love of the tall pine and Mckinley beach

Journey hand in hand through umber forest

Embracing warm home, changed eyes within reach

Captive to lucid euphoric promise

Blessed interest with family and friends

Personal journey of faith God ascends

" I Smote Thy Heart"

by~ Richard Pickett

Upon the morrow, I shall take aim
with this slender feathered shaft at the heart of thee,
it shall pierce thee in the coldest of manners. Thou shalt
know from whence it came. From my sorrow, said sorrow
left upon me by the daggers of thy withered soul.
Beguiled by thy mask of innocence, that thee wore
as brilliantly as the Barrister, pleading before the magistrate.
Thou shalt plead mercy of passion, I once possessed only for thee,
that I remove the bolt from thy heart. Yet... I shall smite thee, till
thy blood runs as cold as the stone upon whence thy lie.

by~ Poet Destroyer

Strike on whom my ears deceive,
your sadness pierce ye 3 times therefore.
Straight liketh dagger of dragon teeth under thy heart.
A grace alone thou sprouted in remoteness ways.
If it ware not thy heart, ye fancy, into thy face
I have besidis all thy pain
No thing to want if it ware not Mad
Hold on to all things even as ye see, in every angle.
Nothing doth matter; thy aim shall endeth all sorrow
I have founded but makis me happiest thou ever was,
Thou shall not beggeth, taketh the dagger
Now thou its to late, smote thee very slowly
Thee hath my heart in deep shallow waters  ;
Bloody lips do what ye list and dredge thee not
Smote thy heart, I care not,
Love whom ye forget, my sweet innocence.
Wherefore I pray mercy or shall not.
But love whom ye fear no God,
Do what must,
My tears shed thousands of grains of sand.
Morrow, will soon cometh, shall I hold
as you taketh away, from your

I wish that I could write
Like my son the poet
I'm just an amateur
And well I know it

I search the site
And there again
He has written something wonderful
With his amazing pen

Wish that I might write
As he has done
I know I am extremely proud
Of my wonderfully talented son

Dedicated to my son Richard poet extraordinaire
I am so glad that all my children are different
I can love you all for different reasons

Richard, here is what I know of you.
You love with all your heart.
It’s evident
from all the joy to others you impart.

Though somewhat grave and complicated too,
you still have smiles enough for everyone,
especially for friends and family,
for you’re a great spouse, brother, dad and son!

You keep your silence but are not afraid
to stand up for the right, and you are heard
through poetry! You love for all to know
your message through the power of your word.

for truth you seek and I am pretty sure
that also you prefer to be a mystery!
Your fears are those that all of us here feel,
so you relate to all humanity.

Though sometimes more a sinner than a saint
you’re apt to be, you know your every flaw,
which makes you strong! And that is why, dear man,
of you and what you stand for, I’m in awe!

‘MY BROKEN HEART’
Poem to Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan

Here is my heart, broken in two.
Because I lost my chance to appear with you.
The greatest chance of my life, I’ve ever had,
To talk about my writing although it’s sad,
To meet denise again, the signed photo she gave me in ‘95’
Hangs on our kitchen wall with great pride.
I would never have gone on holiday to Skegness,
If I had known the outcome would have caused me so much distress,
To be contacted three times by you’re researcher, Nicola McNeleus
To be asked to appear on your show as a guest.
It broke my heart. When I found all her messages, but by then it was to late,
I would have come back from holiday, Done anything to keep that date.
I watch your show every day,
Please god let them give me another chance I pray,
I would give anything in this would to be.
Sitting with my husband with you two on that settee,
With my eighteen-year tranquilliser addiction and agoraphobia, I’ve been to hell and
back,
But now my life is back on track.
To give hope to others, to show the world what I have done,
Who knows it may even be fun.
So please Richard and Judy, answer my prayer,
Please, Please Please, let us be there.

There's Something Else About Richard Nixon

Who
  Ever
   knew,
   according
    to Wikipedia’s,
     chronological list
      of inauguration portraits,
       that Richard Milhous Nixon
was the last U. S. president not to
show his teeth. He could have
been a television crime scene detective,
anchorman, or even the famous Cyrano de
Bergerac before Steve Martin in Roxanne. And
 think about the high-double-hand-double-V-
 salute! President Dwight David
“Ike” Eisenhower may have once offered the
salute. Similarly, half-Vulcan and half-human,
Mr. Spock made a single-hand-double-V-salute,
and Winston Churchill made the single-hand-
single-V-salute. As well as Steve McQueen, a
few protesters and several rock stars. Even
before that, a low relief, discovered by
archeologists in Magnesia ad Meandrum,
Greece dating back almost three-thousand years,
displays a person offering
a single-hand
-single-V-salute.
                                            But never in history has
                                            anyone been more
                                          recorded offering
                                     a high-double-hand-
                                          double-V-salute.
                                     If President Barack
                                          Hussein Obama
                                     gave a high-double
                      -hand- double-V-salute, we
would call him a dictator. And although Mr.
Obama was the first president to offer a single-
hand-salute with a cup of coffee, all the firsts
and first lasts, lead me to believe that an
extraordinary man became the thirty-seventh
President of the United States of America.
But there’s still something else
about Richard Nixon.
Maybe he just looks too happy.

Welcome to the over-the-hill gang.
We're so glad you're finally here.
We know it's a wee bit scary
knowing old age is near.

It's now perfectly acceptable
to be in bed before nine
and of course it's time to substitute
Geritol for wine.

Feel free to bang your walking stick
and scream at young people you see
to turn down their blasted music
before they go deaf as can be.

Eight hours of sleep is long gone,
you'll wake up after just three
for your nightly walk to the bathroom
to have yourself a pee

Young people will call you "sir"
and offer their seat on the bus.
Just smile , sit down and shut up
and try not to make a fuss.

Your eyesight will start to fail
and words will slip your mind.
Put everything right where it belongs
or it's whereabouts you'll never find.

It's really not that bad
getting old ... I mean older.
Don't forget to take a sweater now
as the temperatures seem colder.

Hope I haven't scared you.
Welcome to our little group
and don't forget your fibre
or else you'll never poop.

Premium Member I Cry- Collaboration With Richard Lamoureux For Teamwork Contest

I sit here and cry for all the lost
The victims of our world in conflict
The innocent should not pay the cost

These tears a coming horror predict
Mothers and children are blown away
The victims of a world in conflict

We talk yet we have nothing to say
Not understanding what's going on
Mothers and children are blown away

With blood spilled is the victory won
Survivors haunt ghost towns as they wait
Not understanding what's going on

We cannot leave the outcome to fate
Watching the destruction of the weak
Survivors haunt ghost towns as they wait

Rise from our silence it's time to speak
No longer looking the other way
Watching the destruction of the weak

The helpless do not know what to say
I sit here and cry for all the lost
No longer looking the other way
The innocent should not pay the cost

Premium Member I Dedicate This To Richard Lamoureux's Blessed Marriage

when she speaks to you
her words are shooting stars to wish upon
you feel her in your heart

when she moves in close
you want to faint in the hold of this woman
you feel her in your heart

when she stares into your eyes
you see yourself in a whole new light
you feel her in your heart

when she holds your hand
you experience lightning streaking through you
you feel her in you heart

when she touches your lips
her slender fingers are like rays of shine
you feel her in your heart

when she hugs you
you are blanketed in a sense of clarity
you feel her in your heart

when she kisses you
you know her lips cool quench your desire
you feel her in your heart

when she moves her body into yours
you both rise you both float above the ground
you feel her in your heart

when she is near
you feel it in
you feel her in
she is
your heart

when she is away
you feel it in
you feel her in
she is
your heart

and

always
you shed tears
of joy
from your heart
always

and

you are with the only woman
the only woman you don't need
you are with the only woman
the only woman you just WANT

and

you are blessed!
