The Little Red Devil

An Evil Organ Behind Our Teeth “I’LYEZETTE”
“The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things,
behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth.” James 3:5

We put bits in horses’ mouths,
Rudders on ships and proclaim,
Small things control large things,
But tongues no one can tame.

Though the tongue is small
It can stir intense emotion,
When it lies, then alibies,
Pretending deep devotion.

In lessons of sowing and reaping,
We’re slow to observe the field,
For the seeds we plant,
Determines the type it yields.

The Little Red Devil Behind the Pearly Gates
“The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things,
behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth.” James 3:5

Bits in the mouth of a horse, change its course,
as does the rudder on a ship at sea.
Small things affect large things,
as little tongues affect you and me.

Though small in size, it’s no surprise,
the tongue sows seeds of trouble,
when it lies, then alibis,
And starts to speaking double,

Providing lessons far reaching, in sowing and reaping –
when will we ever learn?
We must take it for granted, the seeds we have planted
are those on which we earn.

Red Devil

The Red Devil stares at me
As I stare back into Death's flaming eyes
One of us must die here today
Lord I hope it's not me
As I stare back into Death's flaming eyes
I know it's him or me
Lord I hope it's not me
As I charge toward him
I know it's him or me
One of us must die here today
As I charge toward him
The Red Devil stares at me

The Red Devil

The Red Devil, Bronco Johnson in 75

I lived in Morningside, moved in a massage parlor girl
2 kids a Kangaroo dog and a white rat called Merle (Greyhound roo catcher)
We had a druggie ambo man, so Wayne put her in his bed
And they’d be a smoking weed, the Ambo and Mildred

Of course she had a Bludger who lived on her wage of sin...(pimp)
So Wayne chased him out to work used my stock whip on young Jim
Seems she started working from the house, clients were coming in
Commonwealth Police watched the place, we went to New Farm slim

Jenny came to visit me and Wayne he had Estelle
I worked at the Hacienda and the Jet club as well (Bouncer)
Estelle was jealous, maybe Jane was on the side
Estelle married a 21 year old, 42 the blushing bride

Wayne went to the local café to get a burger feed
Said how you doing Charlie Brown to a dark and swarthy weed
Who said “I’m ok mate just take a plurry look,”
Car load on the footpath, all his brothers and a chook (shiela)

Rubbish dumped on the street, we had gone and seen
Soon we had some furniture and a washing machine
We shoved some fellas to get through, then in the boot she’d ride
Discovered later it was new, plastic on the wringer side

So Wayne went back to Charleville or maybe places north
To fly across the flooded creeks, fast for all he’s worth (60mph)
For the highway does a beckon, yes he’s still a driving on
And I surely really miss him and I can’t believe he’s gone

Don Johnson
Wife stealing cousin Wayne died of prostate in 07 ?
He had stolen my wife in 1998 :)
But them's the breaks hey:)
60 miles and hour across flooded creeks

1975 Red Devil

Still in 75 The Red Devil

Wayne was in the boot of the white holden, mine
Mildred was a driving into a drive in movie fine
The car it lurched and wobbled Kangarooed just a bit
The wheel brace kept a rising smacking into Wayne’s lip

Wayne Estelle and I were in the jolly car
Mildred was joint smoking we were cackling like Galahs
We sat in a restruant at the pub at Capalaba
Wayne dropped a ripping tearing noise it nearly cleared the bar

2 hairy Hippies in a FB Holden gave us a bit of lip (60 model holden)
So Wayne hoisted a tall one on their roof, rattled just a bit
So they came again and sideswiped Wayne’s blue Ford ute (70 ute)
At the red light Wayne flogged the passenger
While I stopped the lurching bag of fruit…(it was Kangarooing)

Wayne bought a watch at a flea market
That wasn’t any good
So we swapped it back to Barry Barker
As anybody would …

Wayne picked out a good one
Handed it 2 me 4 a quick look
My other hand gave back the bad un
dead watch back to the crook….

They still seek him here and seek him there
Always gone when they come to look
The Red Devil ain’t been caught anywhere
And they’re left holding the book….

Don Johnson, about my nemesis Cuz Wayne who run off with me wife:)

The Red Devil Went

The Red Devil Bronco Johnson 1950-2007
Oh he blew into Toowoomba in 1972
The GTHO Ford was firing left black tracks on bitumen too
Laid 200 feet of rubber they were still smoking in the street
When the coppers came to look he’d been and gone a red streak

The police they asked a local who he was and where he’d gone,
Heard he’d be back in Brisbane now the low flying Ford flashed on ..

Back in Brissy he then got another car
and came to the 5ways at the Gabba hoorah. (Brisbane Cricket ground Gabba)
A copper was a dancing cos he’d run over his right foot
Dickie Daniels was on point duty had a blister black and beaut
(Policeman Dickie was famous at the Gabba)

Him and I were in an accident at Forest Glen
2 cars destroyed in 75 I had some few bones to mend
The red Ford Escort was a flash, at 90 miles an hour
Old Holden died on impact but we lived still had the power

Mark and Wayne and I, we lived one time together
Sometimes Mark or Wayne had our Jane depending on the weather
Went to parents without parteners, others came also my brother
Mark went home with one shiela and Wayne he caught another

So Wayne was a telling me a Chris lived with his new girlfriend
I said I’d win her sight unseen, it happened and then
Mark went back to Jane I moved in with Christine
Stayed together 22 years my path was surely green (lovely woman)

You couldn’t track the Red Devil he’d learnt his craft too well
Just down the road he would wander, maybe Jonny White for a spell
Sometimes you would see him and sometimes gone and then
Down the road again , down the road again , down the road again …

Premium Member Lily In Her White and Red Devil Might

Lily White
Being firm and money tight
Headed to the golden sands looking just right
There was Mr. Bourne and his mouth
Packing the cherries to go south
“Young lady what can I do for you?
Maybe a pint filled with my special brew?”
Looking at him
Innocently no sin
“This should be an easy win
Three points in the bag
Upper table move a good brag”
Everything packed away
Mr. Bourne had nothing to say
We are going somewhere to be on top
Develop a winning crop
Feeling sorry and remorse
Not needing to be seen in a porsche
Lily White did not open her net
Cherry pickers score they did not get
As for Lily still in her white
A draw ended the plight
Nothing on the board
Except cherries being stored
For the foxes weekend picking tour
Later on the Red Devils
Went looking for something below their level
Playing inside Aston’s Villa
Still a
Chance to pick off the buzz
And the west ham that never was
Due to a foul
Red Devils Bruno went POW
Before the half ended
Second goal green wood tended
A healthy break in the lopsided war
Turned Aston’s Villa into a boutique store
A hat trick was commenced
Ending the suspense
Aston was done
In a match they fantasied they won

Premium Member Grandpas Red Devil Box

Where is grandpa’s red devil box?
Each grandchild asked this as we entered the home.
It was a box grandpa had teased us with since we were young.
We all wanted it. There was only one of course.

He used to chase me around with it, Barry told us.
I wet my pants once when he told me what it could do, I said.
Story after story came out.
We laughed until we were crying.
It was the one thing we all had in common with grandpa.

Some of the stories were immensely silly.
Some made us howl.
We never ran out of them.
Grandpa’s devil box stories got us through the day.
And through his funeral without tearing our hair out.
