Best Raveled Poems
With timid steps and a trembling heart
I walked through verdant barren paths.
Toward a rusty gate it took my feet
Into a garden of roses among the weeds.
Carmine flowers, dripping in blood
Wrung my heart in pain of fear.
They caught me from every side
With their lithe and sharp thorny fingers.
Raveled in clutches of copious wines
Turning and twisting I struggled to escape.
Evening shades pirouetting ghosts
Trapped in light tracing fiery faces.
Pouring perspiration pooled my feet
Shedding grappling thoughts I decided to run.
Back to the sinuous path,
Away from the puzzle of life,
Till I reached the black bricked wall,
Beyond it I lost my memories,
Maze of mind closing behind me.

From the confines of this, as safe a harbor my needs afford,
I began my journey.
My mind leapt to scale these walls of raveled thoughts
into shapes and colors I have no claim too, for places never seen,
at a pace to thrust a lifetime into moments
with burgeoning fears that it may end without the end
that lends any credence to reality.
I share no hope of altering its heaving arrogant breath of fear,
of joy, of pleasure, of mischief, of pain and loss.
It was if I could touch the chill and at the same time
share the wonder of its warmth.
This dream, the rarest of possessions, never shared,
was for a moment as clear as the first ray of sunlight.
As I dare open my eyes, it was gone.
Leaving me with only a faint and distant memory
like the soft echo of sweet perfume
and the tragedy of loves lost.

A VISION
--------
The raw reflection, she is
The silent mirror of my soul
Who in her stillness channels deep
The sour secrets that stain
The dying hopes that drain
The heart of their keeper
Her dreamer's dream, like dice
Enfold in the fist of his hand
With rapidity, restrained
Unreleased to disband
Raveled, like the white lit stars
Secluded from the searching eye
Enrobed inside the night's dim sky
So was his love for her, emotions deep
Possessed, but never a prize
Displayed of him
The glamour hind the golden gates
Her city, there within resides
The glow of glory and my eyes
Like lips of lovers quick collide
Encumbered, closed inside a kiss
A soulful duet, sung
With power, undeniable
With passion, indescribable
Bowels of intimacy, in love
The bride/groom,
This ethereal, intimate scene
My eye beholds
Yet with heart of hearts
I withdraw and withhold her
Though so ever wise,
She's shows herself
Her wisdom, infallible
To myself, I say
"Be wise, take heed!!!"
For I know from my mind
The famine shall flee
Understand!!!! Understand!!!
Your will, to hers, yield
For your fate, in her hand befalls
"A wrong direction," she assures me
"Never should you know of fear"
For this angel, sent to you shall guide
And oversee you through the ever
Deep and dark divide
Between the distant realms

Imagism
In a spring kissed field with clipped wings, feet are tied
Never to display beauty and appeal where all men ride
As golden wheat field conceals my broken appendage and sheds
Forgotten as the seasons pass then slowly morsel fed
Imposing vulnerable disintegrating reds, oranges, browns
Embedding in my coils, nests of tendrils, leaves wearing down
Leathery cracks stain and smell of mold sun kissed rain
Dark green velvet moss conceals my frame
Friable distant by fate a hostelry
Obliging nature's creatures haven
Restfully sounds without words
Garment bent in the undergrowth
Orchard grass and wearing morning equally lay
The roads to diverge a wood hidden away
Traveled by unruly Sun that never stops and seasons run
Evanescent fleeting images through windows wind you call on me and make fun
Nature's changing course untrimmed I am meant to stay

Acrostic
Come see the dying of the day;
It truly is a sight to see –
The way the last of rays caress
The sighing visage of surrounding trees;
The way the shadows fill the ground
With silent streams of cooling shade –
Where mourning doves come take their rest,
And coo their last of soothing serenades;
Here bluest marble skies are clothed
In flowing garbs of blackest night;
And evening clouds, like lovers, part
To trail away behind the starry lights
How soon the sun does pass away!
How beautiful is her retreat! –
As she bids mute farewell to day
With violet ribboned majesty
And though the others turn and grieve
To think where all the time has gone,
I’ll fix my gaze within the void
‘Til all her raveled beauty comes undone.

A mind inquisitive will find
while looking out upon the world
that myriads of whys unwind
from raveled webs in queries whirled
by skies above and realms below.
There’s always more than we can know.
If contemplating mysteries
of life’s existence here in space
along with astro-histories
within our cosmical embrace,
the awe one feels will surely show.
There’s always more than we can know.
In famous drama by the Bard,
where Ghost is spotted ‘wondrous strange‘
by castle sentries standing guard,
mid ‘sworn to secrecy’ exchange,
says Hamlet to Horatio,
‘There’s more than you can dream to know
‘on earth in heaven, countless things
in your philosophy not taught.’
(And so begin misfortune’s slings.)
To summarize his gist of thought
in passage ever apropos:
There’s always more than we can know.
Some think that memorizing facts,
despite their changing through the years
as seen in how mankind reacts
when ruled by prejudice and fears,
amounts to understanding, though
there’s always more than we can know.
The gladiola in delight
will bloom as forces lure her on.
Bright stars o’er-sprinkle dark of night
but fade from sight with breaking dawn.
Thus Nature’s cycles come and go.
Yet there’s much more that we can know.
Vast marvels may await our gaze
beyond imagination’s ken
by polishing away the haze
to clear enlightened vision, then
shall fountains of deep wisdom flow…
There’s always more than we can know!
~ Harley White

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.”
~ Albert Einstein ~ ”Old Man’s Advice to Youth: ‘Never Lose a Holy Curiosity’” LIFE Magazine (2 May 1955) p. 64…
The poem is written in verse, having stanzas with refrain…
Inspiration was derived from various passages from The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, by William Shakespeare, in particular the following…
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
~ William Shakespeare, Hamlet Act 1, scene 5, 159–167

The Showing—2015
(Apropos an Exhibition of the Times)
The hand of time paints
Upon the canvas of fleeing life;
Each stroke, a unique highway traveled.
Choices of both happiness and strife,
Chasing unanswered complaints:
Leaving weary twisted minds raveled.
Faith hangs audaciously on the walls of hope;
The easel of truth wobbles on uninsured slopes.
Gone are the masterpieces of peace. Gone
To rotten fields of shattered dreams;
Unleashed wanton terrors freely roam;
Justice torn apart at its tattered seams;
Yet liberation gestates in the galley of redemption.
Days of injustice are numbered and without exemption.

The way less traveled I would like to choose
The beaten path offers no challenges indeed
Steer my way with brain in head, feet in shoes
There are no self- help manuals, no formulas
The right for one may be another’s wrong road
The way less traveled I would like to choose
There are no easy answers, and no road signs
It is a rocky path going through raveled end
Steer my way with brain in head, feet in shoes
There is a winding road that never ends
Full of curves lessons learnt at every end
The way less traveled I would like to choose
Maybe on one will look at my life’s success
I know may be the weeds grow up behind
Steer my way with brain in head, feet in shoes
On beaten way the individuality one may lose
I believe I am doing something worthy deed
The way less traveled I would like to choose
Steer my way with brain in head, feet in shoes

Hail, oh hypoactive attention deficit,
With a brain that's raveled in tumbleweed,
Inundate thy mind with alchemical medicine,
To satisfy thy folly's focus dressed in tweed.
Suck the soma from these amphetamines,
Which waken your wary thoughts,
Add a mix of dimethyltriptamine,
And in the senses thou shall be caught.
Light becomes a lucid liquid,
A river of retinal inquisition,
And for the cognizantly gifted,
A litany of lack in controlled contrition.
Sound is but a moving matter,
That meanders in the rings,
On your head which absords that chatter,
Of what the plasma sings.
Taste is touch and touch is smell,
And all are in your seventh chakra,
An eye inscribed in the Book of Kells,
Which binds below to your basal sacrum.
Now grind the gears of the mental cogs,
Which spring forth from shaken action,
Taken from the growing fog,
Of your addiction's satisfaction.

I dreamt a dream that you weren't there
I figured in some little ways
a rattle of emotions giving us a stare,
A sting of faded love comes back to life
Everything else is drenched
in the world of disguise,
Our hands interlocked so tight
Never thought would take me to a never ending plight
Somewhere replenishes the vows so bright
Like a sierra its black & white,
You, now, display a phlegmatic disposition
Hailing from an unrecited illusion
Traveling through a different era
Like an intrusion of aghasted air in the sacred arena,
Raveled up in the charms of earthly possessions
Swagger along with panache & indiscretion
Only a spur of moment
And realize I was never an obsession,
I wake up with a frozen frown
As if the most revered bond has drowned
Now, there is a rancour between the reality and living hope
I dreamt a nightmare difficult to cope
Collapsed are the souls, together WE are no more....!!!

my mind
as empty as this sky
lingers in the depths
of yesterday's thoughts
now buried in blankets
of fresh fallen snow
my footsteps
lead me to the path
yet untraveled
but raveled
in the depths
of my dreams
hope sits still
frozen like icicles
on these trees
awaiting the warmth
of something i know
will never come
in this frigid air
i close my eyes
trying to regain
a momentary glimpse
of you and the warmth
you always bring
yet all i can see
is the same darkness
as this night
surrounding me

Ballad
I Love.
I love with vehemence divine.
A wisdom less entwined around experience but
Raveled deep within the soul.
I love along the roadway, no signs to
Bind the day.
No sweat and toil,
Just my heart feeling its way through
the darkness.
It’s automatic how this flows;
From need to need,
no lesson hear to heed.
I love within the chambers of the damned,
For their penance shall be granted,
For I love around these sacred corners
Where the unknown seed of glory blooms…
I love as a symbol really,
An image of an image of a thought,
A series undiminished by standards bold!
I love upon the shore of lost souls
Whose sterling beacon has been diverted,
Yet the echo sends a warning…
To love within the muscles of the morning,
When the world shrugs decay,
I’ve nothing more to say…
I love,
I love this day…

The Road Less Traveled
Know yourself and what you believe is right,
Then follow your path with all your might.
Sometimes you'll be alone on the road,
At others with others, yes quite a load.
Don't let the crowd define your way,
But your sense of right be your sway.
Some say to take the road less traveled,
Yet at times, for some, with your tribe stay raveled.
Each day we have a plethora of choices,
Make yours based on internal, belief based voices.
You'll find the same as I have dear,
That each night you'll sleep with a heart and head that's clear!

In the dark of darkest night, the demons always start their preying;
preying, hidden from the light, on minds of souls whose lives are fraying.
Fraying into tattered shreds from games deceitful friends are playing;
playing in their weary heads without a care the price they’re paying.
Paying with their sanity, these weary souls are ever weighing;
weighing inhumanity by demons and the minds they’re slaying.
Slaying all their lifelong dreams, destroying hope that leaves them swaying;
swaying souls with raveled seams, as demons of the dark are preying.
