A Look Back at Eighteen Months Here-The Show is Over

When your poems reside in a shoe,
like mine,
pounding the pavement to nowhere.
The onset of blisters isn't imagined.
Those blisters take roots,
hindering your motivation
to move-
and to continue to write.
It hurts.
Seeing those poems take residence
in pity.
Sans the
comfort of
leather and lace,
shine and sole,
all of which would have been nice.
But all my eyes see are my poems,
tucked away in worn loafers,
unpolished,
unnoticed.
Not exactly eye candy.
But eyesores ...judging by the lack of views, here.
And undoubtedly my shoes made of synthetics
and sneakers
to the purveyors of good poetry
and good shoeshine.
I look down for good reason,
defacto
and stigmatized,
no contest wins,
no poems ever in the top 100 (new) list,
no scent of roses (or views),
nothing.
Nothing.
An abyss of sublimity,
save for the white bird
that chirps
to nobodies ears.
To wit.
For he who signs up for this site
got a handful of mixed emotions,
confetti less tomorrows,
a begotten rah, rah,
a ladle of spiel,
poems published ...
and in my case alone footnote
that I was a member
sans the shoe shine.
I really have to admit,
writing here,
eighteen months now,
has taken its toe.
I have no one to blame but myself.
Kind Regards,

connie pachecho

The proprietor of the show has decided to call it quits, citing mental health issues here. The posse of black bears got to me. The guises, pretense, and hate towards me eroded my spirit. Tell her she can play with my insanity but not my spirit. To my readers, I really appreciate your patronage during this journey here even though the crops are bare and the barn fronts a blank stare.
The cows fight with the pigs, and bacon went to waste. One thing I take is the seed in me to aspire elsewhere, which I've already planted at HP under the name Logan Robertson. Thanks again. Wish everybody the best.

Premium Member Purveyors of Words

Poets ponder and will never forget,
expressing emotions in joy and pain.
Scribbling words from sunrise to sunset,
ink flows like a breeze in sunshine or rain.

Their powerful pens lay strong foundations,
as paper highlights their raw reflections.
Poetry helps to release frustrations,
as imprisoned thoughts sing with inflections.

Composing legacies, where words bring peace.
Penning sonnets, haikus, free verse and prose.
Purveyors of words, where silence must cease,
so their tongues are free to bloom like a rose.

When hands tire with time and ink yearns to rest,
poets are content, they've fulfilled their quest.

Vincent

July 29, 1890

Colored daubs and swatches
crave artist’s practiced hand.
Justice, nearly blind, yet watches—
unwrought art upon a stand.

Regard the brushes in a row—
the palettes and the sponges.
Genius maimed by status quo,
vain a hope that fate expunges.

Guttered myriad lifelong dreams—
in desperate ruination.
Fading now the piteous screams
of self-inflicted termination.

Time Passes

Abruptly then adoring praise—
contrived their sudden expertise.
Rude cabal who would appraise—
byzantine their guileful sleaze.

Each masterpiece a servant
of craven yearn and greed.
Bang the gavel, swift and fervent;
sate purveyors’ inveterate need.

Justice now is truly blind;
vanished those She would impute.
His final piece is left unsigned;
and undisclosed, for now She’s mute.

Premium Member Fragments of Fractals

Fractals.

Spawn of iterating quadratic functions.
Choreographers of cosmic conjunctions.
Impervious to human dysfunctions.

Makers of multiverses. Encoders of creations.
Limited only by imaginations.

Recursive. Coercive. Immensely immersive.
Purveyors of poetic creative cursive.

With formative fractals you’ll melt your mind’s shackles
and be anywhere that you may want to be.
You can form fractals to your own reality,
and make anything in the sky or the sea.
You can even repurpose them to poetry …

Yes, if
fractals were dactyls they’d flow off the page,
whirling and twirling, sublime.
Freeing us, being us, thoughts disengage,
teasing and pleasing with rhyme,
reaping the rhythms of time.

From mundane equations that yet yield complex
repetitive patterns that please and perplex,
come fractals so beautiful in all respects.

Constructors of coastlines and snowflake concerns,
foundries for forests, and feathers, and ferns,
the deeper you dive they have more twists and turns.

Generators of patterns, like veins in a leaf,
and the branches of trees, shapes of every motif.
Look around, everywhere, there are fractals, good grief!

From the large to the small and still smaller they flow,
simple patterns repeating, yet different, you'll know
that there’s just no escaping the great fractal show.

So, let’s face them, embrace them, we’ll host history.
Let us master them, plaster them, I guarantee:
merge your mind into fractals, you’ll set your soul free.

Premium Member Wolves Among the Lambs

There are those engaged in pedagogy
To facilitate the drip... drip... drip
Of poison to accost a child's ear.
Maneuvering with glee and juicy decadence...
Sequestering all they say and hear.

Filled with righteous indignation
And a blind sanctification to their cause.
They pervert both judge and jury...
Twisting truth with sainted claws.

Under a veil of woeful ignorance...
They molest and kink impeccant minds.
When pressed to divulge their scribblings...
They graciously decline.

'You've not the right!' They blindly scream.
'Your fear and doubt is blatantly absurd.
We are gentle shepherds of our flock...
But you'll just have to take our word.'

For far too long we've abdicated our
Responsibility to these purveyors of disruption.
As they've repackaged long failed ideologies...
Fattening our children for destruction.

Nothing good comes from darkness
Except mushrooms and a willingness to deceive.
And proselytizing children like some fungi...
Seems unnecessarily naive.

These predators, race-baiters and gangsters
Are akin to an unruly cockroach in the night.
They happily go about their sordid business
Till someone dares to shine a light.

If you refuse to rise and shine that light...
Then we be back where this began.
But there are still foxes in the chicken-coop...
There be wolves among the lambs.

Premium Member Honey Bees

How humbly hover honey bees
betwixt and 'tween as flowers preen
in April's opalescent sheen
and petals palpitate in breeze.

Beside an arbor's graceful ease
of roses splayed in promenade
with poppies sprayed across the glade
how humbly hover honey bees.

While lilies lilt beneath the trees
the sunlight dapples daffodils
that pose in pots upon the sills
as petals palpitate in breeze.

How humbly hover honey bees,
purveyors of the pollen yield.
As petals palpitate in breeze
they fend the fragrant flower field.

Premium Member Purveyors of Disruption

The winds of chaos run amok
To cause my soul to stress
As those about the Evening News
Delight at my distress.

These purveyors of disruption
Rot the world from within.
They fornicate their tired rubbish...
Finding glee in every sin.

We're they shunned by friends and family?
Did their psyche take a hit?
We're they picked last for indoor soccer?
Did their puppy up and quit?

I'm at a loss for explanation
Why they cheer the coming storm...
Twisting now the flesh of sainted truth
To keep their masters warm.

Do I dare to dream a simple dream
Knowing a little love is all they need.
But until they change... such heinous ways...
They'll get no love from me.

Vision

Gazing at windmills, dare you see Giants;
Call impossibilities imposters,
Incapable of withstanding your blade?
Or are you fearful of approbations
Of insanity insinuated
By the ignorant? Only Quixotic
People possess dreams consideration
Worthy – visions demanding better days.
Status quo subversives – call them poets,
Persistent purveyors of personal
And societal Dissatisfaction.
Excuses excluding innovation,
And personal insulation must go!
We can, shall, will resolve persistent pains.

Premium Member The Manners of Management -

They made mammon somethng measurable, mighty, & magnificent,
everywhere that labor, exchange, & entertainment exist monuments
to money, large and small,

the genesis was excess manufacture
such as grain, gold, textiles & ceramics,
animals & people,
purveyors were born like corn on the cobb,
like mist in morning,
buearruacracies of religion & government emerged from the basic business
of buy & sell, structure was supplied by law & covetuousness,
the greed of need,
people enticed to sell their Spirit in the form of toil for products,
eventually for fiat currencies, profit took the place of contribution,
slavery evolved into serfdom,
from the plantation to the factory unproductive owners needed managers,
individuals with minimal compassion & maximum ambition, essence extractors,

the whip replaced by the 'write up' and tacit threat of poverty,
the iron chain supplanted by hopelessness of ignorance in limited training, dependency,
management believed in synergy, the kind that rewarded the few
at the expense of the many,
the river of Life tore into the irrigation of wealth for selected heredity,
bussinessmen want employees & citizens with low self esteem, shallow interests & passions,
economy as cosmos, profits as pieties, workers as sinners,

edicts of 'minimum wage' and requirements for age are simply Market stabilizers
implemented to ensure profit,
taxes a financial plan of slave paid for regulation,
the management caste, the sociological strata designed to keep laborors feeling underachieving,
crows squawking against crows so that dragons fly free -

Premium Member A Stream of Laughter

Sunlit water frolics
over a stone-strewn base.
Chattering waters,
playfully tumbling children
on a high hill, rolling down.

Both translucent and opaque
blues and greens magnified
by reflection, slice-cut by refraction,
laved with a satin-wetness; stones color,
beginning where, ending where;
I am not to know.

High mountain waters
strained of impurities by crystalline sand
gilded purveyors of bountiful imaginings:
leaf boats with twig masts, brilliant red-purple
chiton-backed beetles float, lost sailors.

Sunlit waters dance, smile-seekers,
laughter-breeders; water falls
ever
on.

Plumbers

Without great words of wisdom, a nation will survive.
Without purveyors of idiom, a dynasty will thrive.
But let the sewers overflow when waters run amiss,
And you will find a people on the brink of the abyss.

Kingdoms rise to glory through the works of humble men
Whose masterpiece is laid with pipe, not scratches from a pen.
So if the water from the tap should flow with earthy umber,
Best dry the mess with manuscript and then go call a plumber.

alone inside with me, less than inspirational

so look out for the more interesting folk

  momentary excitement, the fiery motivational

beyond the familiar, to stoke and provoke

  daydream departure from mundane conversational

adventures cocooned in my warm cosy cloak

cool charismatic characters, charming skills to admire

the wily wheelers, the dubious dealers

the mighty movers, the shuffling shakers, to these I aspire

delvers of science, the body-mind healers

frisky purveyors of seduction spray fuel to the fire

risky game chancers, the common sense stealers

suspenders of disbelief, poetic weavers of word

  jovial jugglers of juxtaposition

addicted acquisitors, spinners shifting the absurd

  fabulous fakers, deceptive magician

image presenters, dark or backlit, focused or blurred

  sculptors of form, instrumental musician

composers of melody, glorious singers of song

whatever the stage, great performers of art

  athletic achievers stretching stubbornly strong

rhythmic dynamo dancers moving close or apart

food-feeding salivators, their tasty pleasures prolong

delightful set dishes or delicious a la carte

whether imbibed on its own or in good company enjoyed

the brewer, the vintner, the masters of malt

innovative designers, architects of structure and void

  the philosopher's stone, comfort-zone assault

insightful free thinkers, long-held paradigms destroyed

tall storytelling teachers without fear of fault

mathematical manipulators of numbers and code

quantum diving or high-flying to the stars

engineering fabricators, tunnel, bridge, rail and road

  crazy drivers and loop-turning avatars

tinkering technicians, ecologists with wisdom bestowed

planners of protest, the remover of scars

inspirational givers, those with just the skill of their bent

empathy crossing over to be by your side

the meek, the afflicted, those who can ill-afford the rent

the refugee fleer from our wars worldwide

safety seekers, brave rational people with lives to augment

as we build indifferent walls... hope denied!

Premium Member Fortune Telling

oracles as purveyors of all destiny
what was holding hints of that which shall be
the reading of cards with colorful themes
journey of select stars not what it seems

direct result of some predestined scheme
all caught up in some dice thrower's dream
digging through entrails of what's always been
for many the way the future is seen

predictions soon become self-defining
soothsaying just a short step from lying
all an indication your life's preordained
whispered with straight face, little doubt, no shame

a human future cannot be amassed
while one is fully immersed in the past

The New One

I have turned time on its head
Solar flares bright and eternal red
Inside a bottle I have them duly placed
For I am neither the first
Nor am I the last
To carry heavy the umbrella of wisdom
As time rains down on us all
I shall gather the meek and the small
Smiles and laughter under natures keep
Reading, I shall teach the children
Its wisdom that speaks
Not I, nor any soothsayer
Seek not the false purveyors who shout “I know”
For certainty and blindness is also a sin

Wrap your hearts inside an hourglass
Cherish those whom long for the warmth of love
Forgive those, who only seek the ice cold
Kindness, shall never ever grow old

God has whispered in my ear
