(Gentle Summer Rain)
Listen to:
light pouring silver gray
enriched thoughts fall from the sky
complete path towards-
Blissful, Delighting Peace
small ceremonial rain dance.

Gentle therapeutic rain
on a warm summer day.
falls of heaven on my skin
lovely healing memory
smiling tears
embracing promise land
means of escaping
utopia in a cloud
Solace-
light mist paints the Earth
"Drizzling summer rays."
Swimming in sunshine, rain.

September skies stilled
Butterflies go unnoticed
Nature holds secret
Cascading water
dancing like ballerina
down the green mountain
singing a sweet melody
God-created lullaby
.
I fondle the brush strokes of a brown afternoon,
inviting me along, to the land of down under.
I will take a small journey, under gunmetal skies,
through country as rough as the crackled veneer.
On the trail of the outback, while the afternoon sighs,
there are three saddled horses, two men, and their packs.
Roustabouts are riding, with the sun at their backs.
A pall of white petals drift over their heads,
from a rift in the cottonwoods, that frame the river’s bed.
I will drink in illusion, as the horses refresh,
as they prance through deep waters,
on that calm, summer's day.
I am thirsty, and eager, to reach out and touch,
and to ride in the outback, beneath silver skies,
on the one extra horse, that lingers nearby...

for "the picture perfect" contest
A gray and dreary sky was drawn this morn
though love was in my heart of hearts aglow,
as I called out to you, a rift was torn,
and through the rift, so silent, fell the snow.
Ah, you have passed my heart, my love; I know,
a barefoot specter follows through the white.
Once warmed by passion’s kiss and love’s delight
now, only memories fill my beating heart,
and I can but shiver in the dead of night
awaiting the cock’s crow, I will depart.
Picture Perfect
Positioning round, global meltdown
Searching for that something not meant to be found
Conditioned we craze, our over populated phase
Why ask questions if the real issue you're scared to raise
Reflexive intuition on which status or position
Freedom to live our lives under certain strict conditions
Egotistically incorrect, assets counted as debt
Proud to be another uneducated intellect
Properly addressed, to crooked to confess
Wondering who is it next that I must impress
Silently ashamed, only false within our fame
Last ones to realize it's all just a game
Shackled in restraint, lies blessed by a Saint
You can't paint a perfect picture...
if there is nothing perfect left to paint...

I drew a smile across her face
Though it was deceiving
Painted her into a lovely place
Me, myself believing
Adorned her dress, exquisite details
All of this for show
Beneath my ink, her life derails
No one will ever know
The jagged edges
of her brokenness
fit the zig-zagged
lines of all the times
I fell and was
made whole again
My puzzle's
missing piece
Picture perfect
iodine on a scraped
knee, a sensation
captured by a gentle
breeze, sometimes
love is nothing
more than pain
being replaced
by a beautiful scar;
if you trace the
lines across
porcelain faces
do the cracks
in the facade
feel fantastical
or real?
Hard to believe
her jagged edges
and my zig-zagged
lines could from
such a beautiful
rendition of all the things
I was missing
The sky presents kaleidoscope views
As the heavens display many hues
On sunny days it is dressed in blue
But sets the sun with red and orange hues
On stormy days it dons a cloak of gray
As thunderous rumbles come our way
But once the storm passes through
It dons again its' coat of blue
It opts for an orange scarf at dawn
As rising sun welcomes morn
With lavender attire it greets the twilight
While it wears diamond studs and golden crown at night
About a castle crowned with gleaming towers,
Young grass and budding trees announce the Maytime;
Above the mountain streams or blooming flowers,
The thrushes and the larks sing all the daytime.
There through the woods rove pairs of lad and maiden,
Each damsels' hair with flowers overladen:
One plays a harp beside a crystal grotto;
To live each day 'neath beauty's locks their motto.
Gracefully gliding, reaching you in sky,
Chasing all notes on air in sublime rhyme,
With shining leotard, my wish is to fly.
I feel every rhythm from time to time,
The sweet smiles lift every spirit so high,
My magic fingers draw a paradigm.
Tiptoeing on the ice, so cold and dry,
Most chilled pirouette, impressive in sight,
Everyone wishes me for one more try.
“My picture”, I look wistfully in sigh,
I stand with shaking knees, my dance is wry.

Note:
Terza rima is a verse form composed of iambic tercets (three-line groupings). The rhyme scheme for this form of poetry is "aba bcb cdc, etc." The second line of each tercet sets the rhyme for the following tercet, and thus supplying the verse with a common thread, a way to link the stanzas.
My first terza rima poem. This poem was late for the contest with the theme, "Picture Perfect" so I entered it in the other contest.
