A string wrapped around a spindle
Unwinding as an hourglass marks time
Sand trickles to the chamber below
marking the moments of my life not truly lived
I hear the clock ticking
as I watch the pendulum swing backwards and stop
The sound of silence drives me mad
I feel the night drag me back to then
too the realization of my dread
There I sit in the torture chamber of his design
Screams strangled by darkness
Night terrors
Rocking to my internal beat
I feel a pain to deep to express
an aching betrayal
a convoluted confusion
I can't protect her from him
She seems smaller than small
holding that lifeless doll
rocking there on this floor
We share the same internal beat
together crying
together rocking
The clock becomes animated again
and the pendulum swings forward
breaking the suffocating silence
The hourglass now sits motionless on his desk
at its bottom a pile of white sand
If only time could truly be controlled
I would choose to wind the string back onto the spindle
I would rewind the clock
turn back the hands of time
Instead I start rocking again
sitting alone here in the dark
thinking of her lifeless doll!

Moving My Pendulum

Each notch in my gear feels your verge moving
Swinging my pendulum slowly back and forth
Moving my weights downward pulling on my chain
Each tick becomes a tock then striking my chimes

Creating this melody in time my second hand moves slowly
Down to your six while my other is on your twelve
Both moving slowly waiting to strike twelve at the same time
Your dial filled with a smile showing all your numbers

Each one creating this moment in time
One for unity, Two for us and three for birth
Four is the hour we met and five is this time for us
Six my secondhand and seven is our love

Eight times nine are the seconds I wait for ten to ring my chime
Eleven is the hour before we both strike at the same time
We will always be in time together with my gear
Moving your Verge giving us both the correct time

(I am a clockmaker what can I say, lol)

I am on the pendulum of life.
It is swinging slowly.
But with determined
Heaviness.

It is my job
To lighten it up or
Party-ize it.
To make it more
Human as it swings
With wide arcs

Through the swamp of life.
I see the crocodiles
Waiting for me to
Fall off, so I can
Be either

Immediately devoured or
Preserved in the cold water
To be eaten later.

And I laugh

gotta hurry, little time for chatter
not on-deck, always the current batter
pendulum swinging at a hastened pace
as if existence were a non-stop race

skip over letters go straight for the words
type of education most find absurd
continue to grind no matter how stressed
pushing onward, no need to stop and rest

haunted by thoughts, being chased by the past
knowing that nothing here ever long lasts
forever shifting gears without a clutch
as if evolution were in a rush

armed with statistics most find mind-numbing
crashing head-on into what's forthcoming

Pendulum

Mood swings
Emotions racing out of control
Chameleon dragster,
my mind is a desert road
Right now I feel like a ten-year-old,
whose giddy with getting a happy meal
Who knows, one hour from now ...
I could be middle aging,
full of sad regrets about the life I lived
The pendulum swings
If I pop a pill, I can slow it down
But I won't do it
I want the pendulum to keep dropping
to the ground
Down, down, down
is my mood right now
A kid shouldn't have to grow up in a home
where the parents' smiles are always upside down
in a frown
The pendulum continues to swing
Now I'm at a playground,
sitting on a hard, wooden thing
Moving back and forward,
going up, up, up
I'm singing with the birds,
swinging in the air ...
watching the other children run around
like ants, making joyous sounds
Then slowly I start to come down,
swinging back and forth,
and when my feet touch the ground ...
The pendulum stops
It's blade slicing my soul in half,
I don't know whether to cry or to laugh
Got a split personality, doctors say
Sometimes I pace the floor all night,
sometimes I sleepwalk all day
Think I will pop that pill,
and raise the pendulum back up
See if there's anything left of me to cut

A Pendulum Plays a Well Known Rhythm

Movements between a left and a right swing
A pendulum plays a well-known rhythm
Moments between the ticking and tocking

A lonely figure bracing in the storm
An empty park-bench on a quiet lawn
A pendulum plays a well-known rhythm

Like a long lost memory towards dawn
The distant baying of a hunting dog
An empty park-bench on a quiet lawn

Hearing bright laughter thru the gloomy fog
Sometimes life is spent in little spaces
The distant baying of a hunting dog

Out at large, on and on the world races
Life, long or short, fines a nominal sum
Sometimes life is spent in little spaces

Knocking at a door for heaven to come
Movements between a left and a right swing
Life, long or short, fines a nominal sum
Moments between the ticking and tocking.

The Pendulum of My Consciousness

'Helpless' is an adjective I never thought
my hand would write to describe the despair
that's wound its way deep inside my heart.
Honestly, I'm only the catalyst of my own life,
the taproot that strengthens my mindset,
my cornerstone, my anchor, my backbone
when I wobble in the wind over matters
that I deem too serious to contemplate.

Lately, my thoughts swing back and forth,
from heights and depths, highs and lows.
My conscience cannot abide the seesaw
on which it rides up and down.
It wants to get off but can't find the right stride
to control where my troubled mind goes.

What fulcrum will serve as a bulwark for me?
Today I turn away from the bitterness and strife,
but tomorrow my mind will again pivot upon life.
I am a pendulum, swinging in the air,
but I have no counterweights to spare.
I try to bury my worries, but I still hear them chime.
There's no place to hide from a revolution.
Persecution of the innocent is a wretched crime.

What can I do to ease such chaos and lament?
I pray for Divine intervention with the intention
that God's mercy will help humankind
endure their banes and lessen their pains.
But is it His plan to save man in this way?
I've become unsure that He will intervene.

With so much folly and corruption in the world
I wonder... should I keep my sails unfurled
and take flight so that I might never see
horrors in the night and the bitter blight,
the tragedy being inflicted upon each other.

Or should I stay to fight with my brothers?
Given my druthers, there'd be no choice to make
if greed in fiendish ones, they would forsake.
What hub could serve as the center point,
a crux where minds meet to ease the tension,
and erase the apprehension in our society?
If there is an answer it has not come to the fore.
Must that mean war is the only solution?

Is there no resolution, something awesomely sublime,
to be a lever of sanity and give proper perspective
to a world standing on the edge of fanatical unrest?
I've no answer that would end the volatile upheaval
or staunch the flow of blood driven by an evil ego.
To negate the vile ones who are assailing humanity,
will take a mind shrewder than mine has to reveal.

Whenever you feel unapppreciated
When it feels like no one sees your effort
you have to realise that life has become hurried
people are jostling for awards
that are all in their minds
they have become so preoccupied with being first in line
that the word empathy has gone out of fashion

Don’t let the alacrity of life
Catapult you into doubt and feelings of worthlessness
Your pendulum moves at your pace
Don’t look at a stranger’s pace and compare it to yours
Your stages of life are inimitable
Don’t be blind to your worth

enjoy the extremities
enjoy all the downs

__uPON her shoes__

The best I could do
Is to sit upon her shoes.
The show is still on,
So don't judge me now...move on!

She is still sleeping
And she wants no awakening.
She loves me and wants me idle
And sit upon her shoes.

One hour gone,
Two hours gone...
Now five hours are gone.
But she loves me
And wants me
Wholeheartedly.
I mustn't stand idle
But sit upon her shoes.

Thank God she's awake.
Now to take a break.
"Can I stand up" I inquired
"Not now" she replied.
"Won't you take me for lunch" she required.
"I will... Of course let's go" I replied.
At least now I don't stand idle.
May be after lunch, I won't fuddle.

"Waiter, I’ll like you to serve me a plate of rice and chicken.
Listen waiter, serve him 'Eba'. He loves that thing."
I admitted to what I don't like
And still will pay for what she likes.

Again to sit upon her shoes.
Another round I must do.

*** Eba: Is one of Nigeria solid food (a product of cassava flour), usually known with the Yoruba people of Nigeria. It can be taken with local soup like "Ewedu", "Efo", "Gbegiri" and so on.

Note: This poem is honest lied situation put up for fun of the contest. However, I have feelings that it possesses (some) qualities that could be related to real life situation.

Numbers are great bearers of truth. They expose and reveal; but do not lie.
For 56 years, the pendulum has swung both ways. Back and forth without delay, for more than 20,000 days.
Both parties' politicians have led an equal number of years Let the numbers report how long they brought joys or tears.

A Pendulum Swings

A pendulum swings
Right, left, right, left
A bomb flies out and there is no life left to detect

A pendulum swings
Left, right, left, right
A new born baby is being delivered tonight

A pendulum swings
Right, left, right, left
The troops march out to this bloodshed dressed

A pendulum swings
Left, right, left, right
The child picks up a toy gun as they start to fight

A pendulum swings
Right, left, right, left
Shots fired as bullets penetrate the chest

A pendulum swings
Left, right, left, right
The child is drafted with a single invite

A pendulum swings
Right, left, right, left
A body dropped, another soldier confessed

A pendulum swings
Left, right, left, right
A body was found with the next daylight

A pendulum swings
Right, left, right, left
A soldier falls into a slumber severely depressed

A pendulum swings
Left, right, left, right
A body returned with the next noon flight

A pendulum swings
Right, left, right, left
A soldier hung themselves with their last war belt

A pendulum stops
Both lives are gone
A battle they fought
But neither of them won
It wasn’t their war
But neither could outrun
Now they are just a memory
While the snake takes another for fun

Premium Member Pendulum Persuasion In Crystal

Pendulums have been used for divining -
for finding bombs, water and gold ore
But you just need a crystal on a string
to find some answers you are looking for!

There’s something that you really want to know -
like where’s the key you lost and cannot find
or where’s the best vacation spot to go?
The answer lies in your subconscious mind!

It may not be a question of where, but when.
Is it the proper time to start anew
or should you do the same old things again?
There are crystal pendulums to guide you.

Is there someone that you wish to wed?
For decisions of the heart, you will need
a crystal pendulum in pink or red.
Your mind has answers that you ought to heed!

Are crystals magic, or do they just guess?
How can they really know what’s right for you.
You must establish what means NO or YES.
There’s one thing that you first have got to do.

Reactions of your nerves the crystals gauge.
So while the crystal hangs from string or chain,
you’ll see it move. Your mind’s eye sets the stage.
From your fingers’ nerves, answers you will gain.

Ask questions to the pendulum for which
the no’s are definite, and be aware
how the crystal moves before you switch
to answers yes. Keep practicing with care.

The crystal only answers yes or no,
but once you have connected to the way
your pendulum reacts, you’re good to go!
Get answers for yourself on any day.

Black crystals work if danger you should face.
Creative answers amethyst can show.
Not just a pendulum of time and place -
for almost anything you need to know!!

Pit and Pendulum

Forgive if I borrow, write and craft some sorrow
Beg and steal, I give you this now and tomorrow
Pen me under stars, pit me against the best
I'll write you a sonnet, put your heart to the test

Cause darlin I gotta know what it feels like
To taste glory, bring heaven from hell's pike
I need to pen a haiku and be through
Oh you thought that I meant with you?

Hell, darlin, I am seeking fame and fortune
I'll pull down stars and ink a supernova
This year I no longer stand by till it's over
Pits and Pendulum's buried under sandy dune

Desert? I will cross it then, a thousand times
Water to quench my thirst from otiose rhymes
But yet, I'll pen my name in the stars for it
Bleed heart and soul for it
But you'll find me... at the edge of a razor.

Pendulum of Time and Space

Swinging on a pendulum in some random place moves people; like me.
Clocks in general are quite the intricate workings.
Telling time must be of up most importance as much time spent on the making of itself.
Time making time that swings upon a pendulum of wisdom comparable with life and life in itself is beyond mysterious.

I stand in a place at times.
I swing at places sometimes.
I may be—at times—a pendulum.
I am life—as wisdom is not always to be wise—
I am like a pendulum that is like life and displays wisdom when it swings that fuel life and also death.

Back and forth we repeat our own ancestors actions as we ignore the advice we are unmistakably gifted.
Books upon books have the answers.
Person after person ignore these books and make up they're own answers.

Lies
Truths
Where lies truth?
Truth lay upon the heart of ignorance.
Lies lay atop the trampled grasses of egotistical pride.

Thoughts matter.
All of them.
Thoughts shape our actions.
Think about your own thoughts.
For me, at first, it was unreal.
My thinking wasn't the good guy..."He's a good guy"...they'd say.
Well, my thoughts would beg to differ.

Judgment
Good
Or
Bad

It's going to happen.
By us all...

The very ground we walk upon is judged.
Judgment is in our brains.
This ability to judge is a blessing.
Choice is freely given to you.
I decide to choose what's best suiting for me.

Me
Me
Me

You
You
You

Both are incorrect . . .

This place we live in together is called Earth.
This life we are so lucky to live is shared and not our own.
This pendulum of time is just a metaphor instructing us to keep pressing on and moving forward.

You
Me

The answer is us and is we—Having a time, together in one place, fixated on a pendulum.
