Best Pelican Poems
Her mom died when she was young…and though she survived the ordeal
she still misses her when she remembers her…
some wounds will never heal.
She remembers how her mom loved pelicans…how they soared on the breeze like a kite…
How she loved all kinds of pelicans…
but her favorite ones were white.
And when she walks along the surf…when the sea is tranquil and calm…
if a white pelican soars overhead…
it reminds her of her mom.
When she hears the swoosh of the pelican's wings…and sees the smile on its beak…
she instinctively returns a smile
as a tear rolls down her cheek.
Then came the day for her to marry…her mom now years out of reach…
she decided to have the ceremony…
in the sand…
upon the beach.
Halfway through the service…about the time she took his hand
A flock of pelicans flew overhead…
then landed on the sand.
And she again remembered how her mom loved pelicans…
how they soar on the breeze like a kite…
And she had to stop and catch her breath…
because all these pelicans…
were white.
It was a beautiful moment…the end of a beautiful day
and when the ceremony was over…
all the pelicans flew away.
All the pelicans that is but one…who lingered there a while…
whose beak she swears to this day…
was formed into a smile…
She never thought of pelicans as angels…until her wedding night
but now her favorite angel…
is a pelican…
painted white.

Sailor Bill decided to sail
Around the world where others had failed,
With him his trusted right hand man,
Cedric, the pelican.
Cedric would give him plenty of warning
When the seas looked like storming,
He'd flap his wings and do some squawking
Similar to as if the pelican was talking.
When there was no food on the table,
This smart bird was very able
To fly from the ship and catch some fish,
Then serve them up in sailor Bill's dish.
Alas the pair were know well
At ports of call where the ocean swell,
They always seemed to be having fun,
Sailor Bill and his crew of one.

Old pelican
Perched atop
A railing at the end
Of Sunny Isles pier
His wings spread
His body teetering
In a salty breeze
As if in mid-flight
Stationary
But with all the motion
Of the universe
Rushing about him
Like a propeller
Whirling
And steering
In the currents of the sea
Yet absent a ship to thrust.

Free verse
if i were a pelican
i'd soar in the sky.
i'd feel like a queen
and watch the day goes by.
i'll go on adventures
and make new friends.
i'd sit by the sunset and watch how it ends.
i'd catch fishes and swim in the sea.
i'd give jokes to the dolphins and they'll giggle with me.
i'd be the greatest pelican that ever lived.
and for those who envy "WELL I NUH GIVE"
the last part of the poem was written in creole my belizean language

lonesome nightingale
serenades the airwaves
searching for his soul mate
lone pelican gliding
against the evening sky
so effortlessly
blown in with the wind
hummingbird nuzzles a bloom
and is blown away again

A pelican, tellican
where the fish all are,
A pelican, catchican
fishes near and far.
With a giant scoopican
dive upon the pond,
With his huge beakican
store them for later on.

Pelican Soup
I will not partake of your Pelican Soup,
Not even a drop or a very small scoop.
This culinary dish is quite absurd,
A consommé of a large billed bird.

Pelican 20-20
The Pelican stood an cursed awhile,
The air was like duck soup,
He'd been forced to walk 4 thirty miles,
His flapping got him poop,
The pollys here still deny,
There is no climate change,
Lock him up ol johnson, why?
His mutterings are strange,
The airports closed, no planes you knows,
The airs unfit to try?
Jumbo's gone, chicken barns, the go,
And sultry Pelicans caint fly.

A pelican called Pete,
Whom tuna, would not eat;
Flew down to hot sand,
Some sand crabs to land,
Now Pete has some very blistered feet!
