Just Like Old Times

Bumped into a friend
just yesterday
I was driving my car
and she got in the way

She said nothing was broken
the impact was minor
Mostly bruises and cuts
and a pretty good shiner

I took her to breakfast
and told her a joke
She was laughing so hard
she started to choke

I gave her the Heimlich
and then she was fine
While everyone cheered
we continued to dine

I finished my eggs
plus her corned beef hash
She picked up the check
since I don't carry cash

Then we took a ride
when I got a flat
She changed the tire
while watching, I sat

We went to the park
to her favorite thing
where she asked me to push
while she rode on the swing

But careless was she
as she went too high
and flew off the seat
up into the sky

And then she came down
right onto a bush
full of prickly thorns
straight into her tush

To the hospital entrance
I gave her a lift
and away from my car
she limped fairly swift

But before that she said
(if you'll pardon these rhymes)
"Whenever we meet
it's just like old times"

Old Times and New

Old Times and New

I travel in my wandering mind
To a different day and time
Back to the mid-40's
When a cute young secretary was I.

Back when dresses marked size 14
Are current day skimpy 10s,
That's where this reminiscing poem
Is about to begin.

Copying documents or research for themes
Required an old Xerox machine;
Filled with fluid and a tray
It was the high tech of its day.

Causing just a little bit to splash,
Was an economical duress,
For even a drop of it would make a hole
In a pure silk, wool or cotton dress.

The copies had to be hung and dried,
Sometimes unreadable even then;
Remember those old yellowed pages
You see in old books now and again?

Then there was the mimeograph,
Stencils typed and clicked on a wheel,
I had a cute boy working with me,
I did my best to make him reel.

Old manual typewriters with ribbons,
Underwood, Smith Corona and Remington,
My daddy washed piece by piece in gasoline
Built BC (before computers) or electric ones.

We went through MTST machines and
Computers in air conditioned rooms with ducts,
Before arriving at desk and laptops,
Our paperless society is now recycle bins and trucks

Progress? I don't know - is this primitive now?
Will they really put a chip in our brain
Where we can think a task and still make love.
Has technology made us insane?

I Hope It Dies

The thought of me that came into your mind,
It grew;
It blossomed;
You thwarted it;
Hopefully you are letting it wilt and die.

I do not want to ignite old flames.
I want to believe your words were true;
After all you said them,
But my mind acts as if it has a mind of its own.
It's been months but still it will not hear the end of it.
These feelings are beginning to feel disgusting;
I hope they die.

I tell myself I need space;
Space away from you;
Honey believe me, I only believe that for a while;
Then I begin to look for you;
The you I know I will never find.
I get glad when you don't show;
When you neither call nor text;
Because if you as so much turn your head I fear I might clutch onto you;
So I hope this dies.

Then I dream of you;
You are just next to me;
You talk a lot but it feels like silence;
I smile at you;
You peak at me once or thrice,
I am reminded of our old days;
When you used to care.
I feel comforted at the same time I feel sadness
Is this what it means to be delusional?
I hope it dies

I know I love you;
I know I miss you;
I know I yearn for you;
I know I search for you;
But I can no longer differentiate between your truths and your lies;
I know my truth but I don't know what to do with it;
So I hope it all dies

The Good Old Times

Not everyone enters the priesthood
To molest a child
Not everyone enters politics
To become corrupt
Not everyone becomes a prostitute
To earn money
Priests, politicians and prostitutes
May have nothing in common
But children, corruption and sex
Are no longer what they used to be

The Good Old Times

(none fiction)

Young and stupid old and wise.
I did my first piecing myself.
Young and stupid old and wise.
Followed by my second piecing from a dare.
My nose felt like it was on fire and that piercing took me a week.
Young and stupid old and wise.
Followed by my third piecing of my tongue on a bet.dad did not approve.took it off now to keep it a secret from my son.
Ouch! my tongue hurt and sore for a week and could not speak.
Young and stupid old and wise.
Saw my first **** magazine as I hid under a table with my sister. I'll say never again.
Young and stupid old and wise.
Try to learn how to ride a regular bike. Well I'll say it did not go well.got knock in to a gate.
Young and stupid old and wise.
Is baggy clothes still in stile?. For that use to be my thing.
Young and stupid old and wise.
Got caught by my first ex-boyfriend mother. When we both try to do the deed.
Young and stupid old and wise
When you think it was cool to wear your stoking to hold your
Ponytail before going in a roller coaster ride. Well it came right off before the ride was over. Ohhhh boy! I had to pretend it wasn't mine.while the red pantyhose lies there.
Young and stupid old and wise.
now its my son turn to be young and stupid. i see.
 There's more but it will take more pages than this.Ahh! The good old times.

Old Times

It is a mind-wandering time

Remember the old times

when illusions were distinct

Remember the old times

when a friendly chat

was all we needed

to brighten up our hearts

Observe the flow of dancing light,
Urge joy to thrill that precious whole;
Reach for that glow that sparkles sight.
Glimpse how love feels in your own soul,
Oblige the cast of poignant zest;
Outlive the craze in inner child,
Dance first and last your affluent best.
Oomph floods the daze in thoughts gone wild,
Live deep delight where time stands still;
Defy the odds of bitter gall.
Dream in clear sight with feisty feel,
Allow for God to let you fall;
Yield to your soul a mindful heart,
Sense a true whole where love moves art.

Over the years things have changed.

Looking back at the funny photos.

Dad wore sneakers on the beach.

Time where have you gone?

Ineed a memory replay.

Mom with her apron on.

Eeating home cooked meals.

Smells did linger though the house.

Old Times and New Times

old times and knew times

  I was thinking about how I live now in a big apartment
with four bedrooms and their bathroom, and I study for me.
As a child, my mother and two other siblings had two
rooms and half a kitchen; the other half belonged to a woman
who had one room and two children.
She often had male visitors, and the children had to sit in the hall, and I told them stories, when my father and I crossed the Sahara on camelback, not that I knew my father he was always absent.
We had no bathroom, but there was a toilet in the basement
it had rats coming up from the bowl, one had to flush several times
before sitting down hoping the best. Peeing was done in
the kitchen sink.
We were poor but didn´t know it as everybody was poor it was
the way it was, but we laughed a lot the slightest thing set us off,
and my brother was great joke teller, and we enjoyed ourself hugely.
Living in a big apartment, I ask myself what happened to mirth
I know, I think, we just got old and our sense of humour,
think I have to go out and look for it-

Just Like the Old Times

Missing the old times
Missing an old friend
Her smile on her cheeks
Reminds me of sweet days.

Old conversations
We talked things over
We ended up laughing
Rolling on the floor

Through worst days
We held each other’s hand
Tears were memorable
She’s my best friend.

Missing the old times
Missing an old friend.
I’ll keep on thinking
Till we meet again.

Old Times

Old Times(quadruple Senryu)

I drift into past
I remember the old times
That`s hard to forget.

We walk on beaches
Hand in hand and Side by side
Smiles filled with passion.

Feel warm in bath tubs
Rolling on rumpled bed sheets
full of life and joy.

Can`t we have this back?
Old times of good memories
Which is unshaken.

Do you remember
Skipping with a rope..alone
Or catching 'jacks' with stones.
Do you recall
Tennis against an old brick wall
Or conker contests in the fall.
Did you chalk out hopscotch squares
Play make believe,games of dare
Hide and seek or touch and run
In a childhood wrapped in fun.
Is simplicity a thing of the past
Will life in a circle turn
Will common sense..return?

Go quickly now
Purge why and how

Dance in that dream
Ooze in lost streams

Go fade away
Thus ends last day

Watch old times die
Beyond those highs

Go when you can
Exit old span

Tact follows act
Don't just react

Go with a smile
Know ends that style

One for the road
Unleash old loads

Go with the wind
Unknown, unseen

Craft charming cheer as apt art aims,
Love makes all things to fashion proof;
Align feelings to play life's game,
Sense how time flings a lasting truth;
See that you see the way turn wild,
Instruct your heart to know your soul;
Claim what will be your prize my child.
Opt poignant start to discern whole,
Last light hurls here when day departs;
Dance dazzling deep where wonder wills.
Thrill vivid cheer as portal parts,
Intuit sans sleep how purpose thrills;
Must matter mind the unknown route,
Embrace wise finds with sensuous shouts;
Seize thus not blind both ins and outs.

Dime Bag Days

Take me back to the dime bag days
     when we were hotel hippies,
thirsty for trouble and stuck in a state
     of delirium.

Our souls were scattered messes
     among the unbent hills -
dreaming of rebellion and freedom,
     pockets empty, heart's empty

Having no sense of direction and
     craving toxicity like it is a
natural remedy. We were walking
     disasters, baddie two shoes.
