The Power of One
Slowly shadows devour the day’s light,
The silhouette of fear draws breath
From the soul left gasping,
A firestorm of fury gathering,
Like mists of plagues escaping
From an ancient land of sand and tombs
With locusts warning of hope’s starvation
To escort the darkness rising
Turning pleas into ashes – weeping into stone -
Pounding on the mountainsides where sweetest spice
Withers beneath lullabies
Robbed of serenity’s grace -
Flowing furious on fevered winds
Pushing reveries and faith out on a ledge -
Not knowing right from left
Or up from down -
No words of clarity in
In the whirlwind’s barren chrysalis,
To hem in - to constrain -
With invisible shrilling waves of crisis
Whipped up by anguish
That binds the wildly beating, frantic heart,
Like a captured sparrow;
To scoff, to jeer, to overlook,
The single bloom standing up,
Trembling like new leaves on thinnest branches,
Scanning galaxies of prophetic possibility,
Then lean on visionary stars
That shatter with the speed of light
The hovering shadow of inertia’s darkest enchantment,
Sending out the solitary song of meadowlarks,
Still caroling through deafness, not silenced,
Not bending to the ill winds moaning
And the chaos screaming,
To scatter seeds of spring not born
Like unseen winged flyers;
To see beyond and past descending doom,
Into that far and sheltered arbor
With dreams of wisdom and young visions -
Outside the grasp of calamity,
Beyond the dark horizon -
Enticing with an alluring fragrance gather back
Into the benediction of the ever circling eternal seasons
Promising….
When we abide in restful quietude,
divine energy gridlines come alive,
held still with vibrancy and fortitude,
causing nectar to drip from soul’s bliss hive.
There is no mystery in words we speak,
being simply devout intent of heart,
wishing to be still to get a sneak peek
at sparks that cause bliss ignition to start.
Though the seeker who seeks does not exist,
heart’s desire emoted needs a response
which it receives, manifest as a mist,
throb of bliss magnetism, held in love’s sconce.
The aspect of us entwined with the whole,
is imbibed in heart as whispers of soul.
another typical day, with feet on the ground
ordering the hedge to meet my image of trim
many measured bits fall before the cutting edge
casual thoughts detach, is there anybody in ?
then some mental inner disturbance jangles
with corresponding jig, nerves rip in deeper
following the run of a stalk, the hang of a sprig
so prune the untidy and unwelcome creeper
a movement to the side of my eye is caught
something is scared, behind dense vegetation
the fast beating breast of a baby brown bird
a frantic flutter and then much aggravation
descends to the pavement in fear driven escape
panic ruptures in flood, under a half sliced-off wing
chest partly open, feathers flecked red with blood
cupped warm in my hand, young life does cling
grim realisation, fledgling with no hope
pressure leaking, ebbing from a dying heart
but then our eyes meet, answers it is seeking
'where's my mum, when can my flying lessons start?'
the deed is now done, the light that shone has gone out
just the salt of my tears at this horrible juncture
the killing of one hundred and fifty million years
and this clumsy ape's evolutionary puncture
undiluted guilt, too much concentration to bear
to forgive and assuage, soothing rational thought
replacement anger and even more depressing rage
bombs target children when careless wars are fought
imagine that child, in screaming terrified terror
in mortal trouble, reduced to core instinct base
an external world has turned your home into rubble
'where's my mum, why can't I see her familiar face?'
OF ONE SWEET KISS
~~anacreontic verse~~
As yawning sun
shall end the day
and stars at night
flutter betray,
my heart besets
the velvet sight
and wafting breeze-
no solace brings.
I wander slow
walking on air,
pictures within
whisper confuse
yet, love I dare
feather breath warmth,
lit the magic
'til angels rose
to pluck dire strings
so bards may sing
my lovers name.
By candy flame
of deep despair,
seeking spirit
moans in silence.
Thirsty thoughts
in depth of eve
spell longing weep,
my lone heart tears
of waiting song,
of one sweet kiss. . .

***dedicated to my HUGE ONE~~~ James Fraser
Love is not love if only in books and songs
In romantic movies and poems it belongs
It is life itself; an experience we share
A personal history of concern, commitment and care
Love is a voice that will soothe and caress
A heart that is uneasy, a mind in distress
It is a look that says, "I'm here, I know life isn't fair.
Pour out your troubles, I'll listen, I'll always be there."
Love is a smile, on both the lips and the eye
A suggestive twinkle and a warm good-bye
It is a message that needs no gesture or voice
Yet, in that twinkle it says, "In your company, I rejoice."
Love is the soft touch of one hand in the other
The gentle massage of one heart by another
That occurs when those fingers do gently squeeze
And say, "As long as we are together, life will be a breeze."
Love is not love if only in an expensive jewel or gift
Can it offer us comforts, our flagging spirits lift
Love is life itself, the acts that are done
When two hearts celebrate with the rhythm of one.
In an audience of one,
He knows everything I’ve said and done.
Though I can try I cannot hide,
He walks with me right by my side.
When I close my eyes He is there watching over me,
He is my strength, this man who walked the Seas of Galilee.
He is the cup from which I daily sip,
He is the friend with whom I choose to fellowship.
He battled the beast to save my soul,
And offers me a mansion with streets of gold.
Just for my obedience and doing what I know is right,
He guides my path with His shining light.
He shows me the dark side of those temptations that call,
He carried me those times I would stumble and fall.
I praise His name to all who will hear,
His message to me has become crystal clear.
I wish to share His love with those who are lost and confused,
He alone took on all our sins as His poor body was mutilated and abused.
He gave His very life just to share Heavens bounties with each and everyone,
And rose from deaths tomb, to claim this victory, God’s only Son.
The Power of One
Computer age impasse...the strength of one;
the fear of stroke of midnight had begun.
One second only, how our lives would change;
our current ways we'd have to rearrange.
The strength of one...one second soon could cause
such catastrophic world events because
computer programs would defy planned charts;
schedules for flights and trains would fall apart.
Communication, electronic needs
would not perform with wrong computer feeds.
All bank accounts would never be accessed
until we could recover from the mess.
One second only from disaster time
when year two-thousand flipped from 'ninety-nine!
Came stroke of midnight...the power of one...
that one feared second...was dissolved and done.
A year-long worry came and went away;
we all recall the fear of Y-2K.
The force of one held humans hostage to
a tragedy that never did come true.

A rose is guarded from prying hands
By thorns along the stem
Reality makes the truth known
A heart can be kept safe
From those who wish it maimed
By icy spikes of bitterness
And distrust
Thorns are beautiful
As are my own version of such a Godsend
Serrated barbed wire
That hurts both the offender and the prey
It works both ways for us
We had some bond
That the fairy tales paled against
Though what naive child was I to ignore
The untamed look as you swept me off my feet
And killed the innocnce
I longed to preserve
A wound carries infection
When left untreated
A shattered heart
And useless dream
Will not infect
But most surely
Scar
My burning heart
Bleeds for salt
To make it worse
And yet
To make it feel so much better
Now I have played my part
And those thorns that once looked
Deadly yet respectable
Made me see
Time does not always heal all wounds
The memory will stay caught
Onto those pikes of self preservation
And your Betrayal within me.
Our voyage begins holding each other
slowly captivating space filled magic begins
warmly with glory be sings under spells
Grace is blessed always
with deep warm joy kissing beats
the true love inside fails to die
A hunter's moon smiles in the Heaven's
under the cradle of thoughts over and back gently whispers
your starlight gives birth to beauty gentle dove
Entering the soul kingdom opening chambers
adorned tourmaline inside this rainbow key of divine colours
a treasure uniquely true rare shines through pure
unrhymed tercets
CXXIX
A truth could not my heart unfathom why
How by the death of One who cannot die
That such a sinful mortal live for aye
With blood stained hands my guilt He sanctify
All hail the worthy lamb though priceless slain!
God's only Son, most perfect without blame
Such grace I undeservingly obtain
My hell and pain He suffered not in vain
With joyful grief I bind with altar cords
My fainted heart pierced by thy holy sword
Till it breaks out with songs of loving words
Of praise unto my King and Lord of lords
That day shall come when all would cease from strife.
And so as Thee will I be raised to life
in Pando's shadow a young maiden sings
wander'd to and fro peat bog feet sloshing
auburn locks adorned in daisy crowned rings
quite unaware that something was watching
one with thick skinned carion heart at core
to scavenge Middlemist's red camellia
he too delivered from far away shores
a renaissance ratel in rebellion
Leila leisured in shade of quaking aspen trees
treacle honey joys spilled out across her dress
temptation so strong insatiable hunger needs
dark honey badger lept from a tufted hedge
in presence one so endeared, showed no fear
for all beasts, nature's greatest gift bequeath
proffered morsel from open hand as he neared
inquisitive eyes belied soft heart and sharp teeth
forest branches embraced the two in nosh
as trembling giant's rustling now subdued
ladybugs flit from branch to dew covered moss
fingers stroked rough fur nape to back as he chewed
two walked ancestral shores as newfound kin
sniff'g this way and that among tufted pearls
claws tap entranced her soft cooing voice hymn
face framed in rivulets long carefree curls
long past gone Leila's song through far away gates
honey badger' forest friend rests - Pando waits
"Why not try living your life for an audience of one?" Gordon Robertson
"Why not try living your life for an audience of one?"
Instead of living to please yourself, why not try
living your life trying please Jesus Christ?
God's only begotten Son.
Instead of going your own way and getting lost
along the way? Why not turning your own
life around completely upside down?
If you are drowning your sorrows,
and/or puffing them up in smoke?
It is because by yourself you can
not cope. You can not survive all by
yourself and on your own. At
least if you the only one to lose is you.
If you want to fly like an eagle without
angels wings? And climbing a mountain
which is way too high. Finding out
much too late you can not fly.
Why let yourself become undone?
When all you have to do is call upon
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
All those who call upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved. Call upon the
name of the Lord while he still is
near. Call upon the name of the Lord
while you still are able to to. Come
tomorrow it may be much too late
for you!
You have no guarantee of living
more than one day at a time.
Why waste another minute of your life?
When Jesus Christ is knocking at
your hearts door!
Love in Christ Jesus!

Eyes blazing with fire yet black as coal
Hair glistens from the capture of souls
Beads of moisture on her body hold
The hearts of Lovers who dared.
Naked in the cave we were there
as her dripping form appeared,
echoes of time in perfect unison,
we stood and knew we were one.
.
Her body firm and tan in health
Silken skin as Nature’s wealth
Eyes blazing…
Lips moist and inviting in…
”...come to me…”
She dares the sin…
Gaps of light shed redemption
Legs strong and defiant in perfection
A Sensual teases with salvation…
.
Dark coals blazing, long hair glistening
My heart racing but I’m not listening
Memorized by the flame in her eyes
My legs betray and I’m frozen in time
Deep within a mysterious cave I’ve
become enslaved…to her rhyme.
.
Before I knew we were face to face
Desire over sense my heart replaced
Drawn to touch what a mind has chased
Felt in a dream but never embraced
”...can this be real…?”
Temptation lures the body to heal…
.
Naked in the cave we were there
as her dripping form appeared
steam from the heat of her skin
Lips moist and inviting in
echoes of love in perfect unison
Sin as salvation in the Form of One.

evil be put on the run
