Modern Day Achilles Heel

this boy -
he is mythology
he is the pomegranate sitting in persephone's
palm -
(looks can be deceiving)

this boy -
he is a mirror
can show medusa what heaven really is -
how pain really feels
but medusa never looks

this boy in the sun -
he is the smoking gun
in the death of icarus;
he is the crime scene in the middle of the ocean

this boy -
this boy is murder
he is cain holding a blade to abel's throat,
holding a mirror up to medusa,
force-feeding a pomegranate to persephone

this boy cuts the snakes off medusa's head
and makes snake-skin boots;
plucks the melted feathers from icarus'
cold hands and makes a throw pillow

this boy is murder when he wants to be;
this boy is murder when he needs to be

Our Modern Day Pharisees and Sadducees

A Pharisee was fair you see,
Because with the resurrection they understood.
But the Sadducees were called “sad-u-see”,
Because they did not believe that the teaching of
The resurrection was any good.
Both groups were very pompous you see,
And thought they were better than everyone else on the scene.
And even when Jesus Himself showed up at the grounds,
It made them more vindictive and more mean.
Several times they tried to trap Jesus,
As in the case with the adulteress lady.
But Jesus once again had to put them in check,
For His reaction was what they were watching;
Of which He made them look very shady.
Another time they were upset,
Because they healed on the Sabbath, someone.
Instead of being happy for the person that was healed,
They were upset amongst each other, everyone.
Today we have people like those just the same,
“Uppity” and you can’t say anything to them.
Thinking their too good to be with CERTAIN people,
Forgetting they are to love all people at all times;
But making some individuals feel very dim.
“Clubbing” or “Club-Hopping” on Saturday night,
Going to hear the Word every Sunday.
But smoking and speaking sadistic words,
As if it were something like a Monday.
Jesus told the Laodicean church,
That He would literally out of His own mouth spit them.
Because they were neither cold not hot,
They are what we call being “LUKEWARM”
There is a difference between,
Living in and committing a sin.
The first is a lifestyle one chooses to live,
While the other is a mistake one makes but not purposely therein.
So will you be a modern day Pharisee or Sadducee,
Or will you be a worshipper with sincerity?
Will you have a sarcastic or sadistic spirit,
Or be with your father in hell for eternity.

Premium Member Tale of a Witch - Modern Day

When conjuring up visions of witches,
people might think of a broom or black cat.
The scariest ones, though, are b*$%#es
who wear normal clothes and not a black hat.

Here is the tale of a witch - modern-day.
She had two small sons, but life was a bore.
With other men she wanted to play,
for witches are selfish and always want more.

She made up a spell to meet a new guy
with more brains and drive than her own spouse.
She also required that he should comply
with all that she wanted - a guy like a mouse!

Maybe the one she found was a critter
she’d caught in a field and changed to a man,
but she made sure that he was no quitter.
Once he was hers, she began her grand plan.

She brazenly met with her new boyfriend
with her kids in the house, for she had no fear.
She magically got her marriage to end
and got her son’s father to then disappear.

All this she accomplished quite legally.
Her daddy, a warlock and powerful man,
made threats to the son-in-law so he’d agree
to give up his boys and not see them again.

The witch moved her boys away from her ex,
whose parents were left brokenhearted.
The grandparents’ hearts were crushed from a hex
that assured sons from father were parted.

The boys were raised with the witch in control
of their minds, and they could not recall
the life with their dad because their mom stole
their dad’s name from them too. She took all!

The witch’s new husband worked hard for his wife.
He obeyed her commands very well.
On the surface they seemed to have a good life,
but the sons had their own truths to tell. . .

The years passed away; the witch became old.
Her sons have escaped her dark power.
She remains (even though her deeds have been told)
unrepentant up to the last hour.

Modern Day Slavery

My heart raged like a black sea over shore;
then anchored he in the depths of an unsure land,
a bleak morrow trickling from the neck of an hour-glass
unto the bottom of a slave - ship.

I breathe in the stench of whipped pride,
at sun set beyond the Atlantic,
as breeze of pines and autumn birches
flog nostril hairs; and stiffened gazes,
trod the white screens day and night

Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde

My wife and I are in court and we're being tried.
She and I were the modern day Bonnie and Clyde.
But we didn't rob banks, we stole by identity theft.
When we got through, people had no money left.
She lied in court when she said that I put her up to it.
I can't even use a computer, it was that hag's idea to do it.
She turned on me so fast that it would make your head spin.
Now I'll spend twenty years in jail, my sex life has come to an end.
The jury just came back in and found both of us guilty.
My wife gave them the finger because they didn't set her free.
I'm so sexually frustrated that I feel like I'm going to bust.
You're looking at a man who is suffering because of his lust.
We were the modern day Bonnie and Clyde, our story must be told.
I'll reject my wife when we're released because she'll be too damn old.

Modern Day Heroes

You respond to the call twenty-four hours a day,
you lock up criminals, showing them crime doesn’t pay.
You make our communities and neighborhoods safer,
our chances to live peacefully are a whole lot greater.
You risk your life by simply wearing your uniform,
but risking your life daily is pretty much the norm.
You seldom receive credit for your heroic acts,
I am telling the truth and I am stating the facts.
A firehouse alarm sounds, breaking the night’s silence,
as for the number of casualties, you are left in suspense.
The Dispatcher says, “Apartment complex fully involved,”
the issue of being short-staffed has yet to be resolved.
First alarm out and you’re the first on the scene,
from a window above you hear a faint woman’s scream.
Without thought you rushed into the apartment,
you successfully saved a life with little time spent!
Accident with victims, a man and his wife,
you saved their lives with your “jaws of life.”
You are an innocent bystander that springs into action,
“Civilian Saves Lives” read the newspaper’s caption.
You have the tough task of keeping the country safe for us,
I was once in the service so it is easy for me to discuss.
I mentioned you last but you are certainly not least,
you are the main reason we live free and in peace.
You save people’s lives and you don’t even know them,
I am thanking you all with this inspirational poem.
Where your courage comes from nobody knows,
but to me you are all “modern day heroes.”

A Modern Day Superman

If we had a modern day Superman, he would not survive
He wouldn't be able to keep all of us alive

His identity would not be a secret, it’ll be all over Facebook
And our Lois Lanes won’t give him a second look

Changing in a phone booth won’t be possible
Ours are way too small, he might end up in hospital

He won’t be able to fly, he’d walk to crime scenes
Cause his cape got stolen, and he’d be wearing a pair of jeans

Lex Luthor would be too busy playing X-Box
While Superman’s career is on the rocks

He would've lost all his strength in street fights
And developed a drug habit by now, the poor Kryptonite

Modern-Day

A wicked heart blinds the eyes and steals the soul's redemptive growth
A corrupted mind is never forgiving and hates a tender smile
But because there is an abundance of joy built in strength
I see my fellowmen as humanitarians and as friends

I am the modern-day Bob Marley chanting my redemption song
I am today's preacher giving thanksgiving and praise
I march like Martin Luther for I have a dream
I sing like the angles in a humble refrain

Unity solidifies the heart
Eternal love prides the eyes
A rolling dice have many outcomes
Chose the possibilities of your successes

So I dance like Fred Astaire as I glide through out life
I will box like Mohammed Ali and sting like a bee
I want to be the modern-day sunshine casting my light upon the world
Just a natural woman roaming and visualizing my plan

There are so many things to be thankful for
There are so many good silenced by loud noise
Like Whitney Houston I have nothing without you
At the end of the day I will always love and treasure my miracle.

Premium Member A Modern Day Good Samaritan

A certain beautiful little girl was standing
In a Midtown Manhattan CVS store
Where crowds had gathered to shop late in evening
She was of Oriental descent standing there;

I saw her, admired her sweetness and let her be
I just stood near her side such a small child she was;
And likewise there were other people on each side
The eyes fell on her with lack of concern or cause.

But a certain black lady who was on a journey
Came upon her, and when she saw her was alarmed,
“Where is her mother?” “Who is her mother?” she yelled;
The mother came up and took the child in her arms.

I ask, “Which of these three do you think proved to be
A neighbor to the child quietly lost in the store?”
The woman who knew New York City and dangers,
This woman showed concern and mercy toward her;

And our loving Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”
Scores of people pushed forward through the exit door.
I thanked the immaculate black lady who saw
The need that I, a mere stranger in town, ignored

Sacred Night – A New Original Modern-day Christmas Carol,
a Collab with Cecilia Crasto

Once again, a beautiful poem by my sister Cecilia Crasto has been transformed into a lyrical Video musical, complete with special effects to convey the story of that historic Christmas night when the Christ Child was born. This New Original Christmas Carol celebrates the timeless spirit of love, hope, and joy that unites us all, regardless of our beliefs or traditions.

I trust you’ll enjoy this heartfelt creation as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life. Wishing my family, friends, and everyone here a season filled with peace, kindness, and good health. May this time of year inspire warmth and togetherness in us all.

A Happy and Joyful Christmas to one and all

Modern-Day Reality

Useless functionality,
Loss of practicality,
Robbed of all vitality,
Is today's reality.

Everywhere I look and see,
People live in poverty,
Everyday technology,
Failing to provide the key.

They deserve a better life,
Free from hunger, pain and strife,
Modern living's filled with blight,
Death and sorrow's very rife.

Everyday brutality,
Loss of one's morality,
We prescribe neutrality,
Modern man's fatality.

This is our reality,
Some say, "New normality",
Government formality,
Ruling so lethargically.

Modern days in which we dwell,
Some in 'heaven', some in 'hell',
"1980 - George Orwell",
Of our time, he told it well.

Modern Day Slave

She works sixteen hours a day
unfortunately she has no pay,
forced by her traffickers of evil
non compliance, expect upheaval,
she accepts chores through fear
emotions turned off, sheds no tear,
she’s forced to humiliate and shame
herself, so feels that she is to blame,
her only hope would be to escape
under constant threat of gang rape,
we all see her daily, we’re ignorant
just a cleaner just another immigrant,
we don’t expect such evil to be sustained
ill gotten gains by exploitation maintained,
we don’t bother to ask of her well-being
why should we, laws protect human being,
only her and her perpetrators really know
there’s no escape, they’ll never let her go,
her family are also at threat over seas
children, and sisters she will never see,
she must show strength and bravery
she’s a victim of modern day slavery.

Premium Member Modern Day Heroes

I could write a poem about heroes,
Heroes who fought the great war.
About men who have died
With their friends by their side,
Never knowing what they were fighting for.

I would rather write about heroes,
Heroes we see everyday.
It's the battle they fight
From morning until night,
From a virus that won't go away.

So thank you, doctors and nurses,
The ambulance men,and scientists combined.
All of the people,
Trying to find a world cure.
For putting their lives on the line.
