Premium Member Which is me

How a buzz in my pocket
changes the way I think
Like an anagram of the eyes
rearranges how they see
An unseen picture appears
sensitive to my touch
expands on its side
but becomes clear straight up

I’ve opened a family thread,
a child image of me was sent
one I’d never seen before
takes time to comprehend
why temporal snapshots
alter perception, if not my past
and how fractures will be camouflaged
under his thick mop of hair

Yet that kid I barely knew
has somehow willed his way through
as if to check how he’s grown
for back then can’t be known
his future shaped by wounds
that fused together too soon
He’ll face denial shortly enough,
when closure sets in, he’s f*cked.

Maybe a few shallow X-rays
could’ve exposed his flaws
Held them up to the light
until it fully dawned
Guide him past the negatives
where black inverts on white
Instead a darkroom of maybes
tries to redevelop his life

So with hindsight today,
I’ve been X-raying my life away
like an existential poet
finds cracks in perceived certainty
Best to exhume old bones
from beneath dirt and stones,
as undying proof
of foresight’s hidden failures

I won’t write off all my past selves ~
just the one I didn’t see coming

Which is me

By
David Kavanagh

Wallflower

On the edge she sits, a frail nonentity;
neither bloom nor spirit, nor secure identity,
as forlorn and shy she trembles, a man
asks her to dance, she must decline.

Stuck in a bubble, just missing the boat,
floating past maybes, a lump in her throat,
she dawdles and dangles, an inch from forever,
a chance to break open, but opting for never.

One day she will make it, step into the limelight,
and pirouette daintily, taking his hand,
there'll be no more jitters or lame-brain excuses
just confident motions in time with the band.

What a relief to be one of a legion
of movers and shakers who're down from the shelf,
she's gliding with grace while avoiding another's toes,
hugging her partner instead of herself.

                    *******

...autobiographical, you wouldn't believe how much!

About so many things I want to let fly,

Political correctness is like a stick in my eye.

Capitalism and greed over helping others, WHY ?

State sanctioned murder, yeah let the innocent fry.

Apathetic laziness, will lead to obesity,

Get moving people, it’s hard but it works trust me.

My lazy Son the millennial wants it all to come easy.

His education costs a fortune but it should be free.

I like Rap music but not the way it denigrates ladies.

The way it glorifies drugs makes me crazy like rabies

And the language is horrid, no ifs, buts or maybes.

But worst is violence towards kids or on babies.

If You Name a Poem Something Cheesy Like--- Venus --- It Will Only Get Twenty Reads

"What's your story?"
she questions,
"you seem interesting."
wildflower
in eyes
I reply, "NOW."

often people become confused
by such a unique response
not this one

she's a beauty
shiny minded stone
lives warm under veins
lacks definition of alone

alone she stands
tallest green blade
unscathed
each time the oily blade passes above

erect
she stays the same
tingling pulses exhale her pores
she'd rather sink
than have to think the way of worldly whores

still...
malice skips her
no ripples in the lake
dripping from her face
sunshine slips across tangerine cheeks

gold flows throughout waves
streaming locks
sky clear eyes surprise those
choosing to be consumed
by her entice

hands free of envy
no webs to spin
hips unmolested
thighs slick
turpentine

be warned
she will divide you
no voodoo
or silly twisted games
though safe may escape you

blemish-less
untangled...
the girl
she
Goddess
baby of zero maybes
KNOWS
how?
she knows

as clarity lent us its giant umbrella
her lipstick smacked my tongue
from there
we never looked back

One Stitch At a Time

dedicated…
to this hurt
to this pain

until you
ask
me
why?
I cannot explain

and I want
to tear my heart
OUT!
and show you
everything
that I am..
not

the edges
frayed
tattered
because I let them
in
gave each of
them
the sharpest scissors

hoping for curled up edges
like
Christmas ribbon
instead
I am unraveled
like your
favorite sweater

I want you to be
angry…
I ruined your
hope
of perfection

just put me
in your keepsake
box
with all the other
possibilities
the could-have-beens
the almost maybes

but
you offer
me the most
beautiful golden
thread..

fix yourself, you say

but I can’t sew
and I feel
useless
once
again…

until
you take my hand
in yours
and teach
me
..

You Had Me At Hello

We have been friends for quite awhile
It started at hello followed by your smile
But your one time presence wasn't enough

So i tried again and you made it tough
So i left it alone i let it go
Now here i am just to let you know
I saw you again just the other day
I was lost for words but thats okay

I know were differant in many ways
I thought with a life time you thought with days
But all isn't lost a friendship was to gain
holding the time we had and the maybes that remain
All and all my friend i want you to know
You would loose me at goodbye because you had me at hello

Regrets

Regrets

They follow you like vultures
soaring in wistful circles
alighting on church roofs
at weddings and christenings,
never out of your sight
and chew on your dreams.
Their shadows mark the good things
that could have been yours
and spatter your life with the droppings
of what ifs and maybes.
Your past is inaudible over their constant chatter,
and when you lie still, fading,
with your family looking on,
they perch at the foot of your bed
and laugh

Maybe..........

Maybe you'll never live to read my thoughts
Maybe you'll never live to see my dreams
Maybe you'll never know about the thorns
a yellow rose carry in between,Maybe
i'll never live to be your daisy or your
white pure little dove, maybe all the maybes
never get to know there was a time
we were so much in love..................
but maybe in the inner of the inside of my heart
i know one day our souls met and they've never been apart,
Maybe these are fool's verses twisted without rhyme,
its early in the morning and now i feel its time..
Maybe i'm not perfect,of that i am so sure..............
If i 'll ever leave you, If i go and lock my door,
its cos i cant stand another heartache,a spirit tear to sore..
Yet there's a little window, a balcony i'll always see,
a scene of sweet remeberance when Us where YOU and ME....

              ~ ~ ~

When a dove finds home and home finds land
When a dance be born again just to hold his hand
when fresh ink dries and verses find their end..
when hurt is "Hurt too much "to stay and understand...
Maybe.....

Where there is here and here is there
Where pearl and shell will never tear.........
they tear..........

Maybe.............................................
Just maybe as we turn to dust we born to find once more
Our Love and Lust..............

Maybe.....???
                                                                                                                     Charma

Lessen the Load We Bare

You get on a train and search for a seat,

To take the pain away from your feet,

You couldn’t care less about whoever you nudge,

You find your rest and then begin to judge,

He’s a slob, they’re mad, he’s a bum, she drinks,

Shes a snob, he’s fat, they’re scum, he stinks,

But what if you stopped for a second and you saw them true,

That they’re not what you wreckoned, maybes no different than you,

Then take to rise and offer your place to someone in need,

Regardless of their size, class, age, race or creed,

Then when you eventually get home and at last you can relax in your chair,

The pain in your feet will soon go but never will the fact that you care.

Premium Member 24 Hours

Last night I had a long and restless night,
I couldn't sleep, I tried with all my might.

I couldn't get the “ phrase 24 hrs out of my head,
so next thing you know I stumbled out of my bed.

And I began to think about my life and all that I had done,
I thought about my many failures and victories I had won.

But I thought about having only 24 hrs left,
would I be selfish and only think about self

Yes, I have to make my wrongs right,
strive to love and not give up the fight.

I will try my best to be the version of me
and forgive others and let bygones flee.

I have no time to hold a grudge
or sit around and misjudge.

I just want to live my very best life
and let go of misery and strife.

Spend valuable time with my precious babies,
forget about the should have beens and maybes.

Our time on earth goes by extremely fast,
so with my 24 hrs I will strive to have a blast.

Premium Member just be

Think less.

    Do more.

Simple, right?

Just breathe, just be,

stop the endless loop, the ifs and maybes,

the what-ifs, the could-bes.

    Jump.

Don't overthink the fall.

It's not the landing, it's the flight,

the air rushing past, the freedom,

the thrill of letting go.

    Stop thinking.

Stop freaking thinking.

Just breathe, just be.

    Taste the moment.

    Feel the sun.

    Laugh so hard it hurts.

Cry and let it all out.

Feel everything,

every heartbeat, every breath.

    Live.

    Now.

Not tomorrow, not someday.

Now.

Dance like a fool,

sing off-key,

love with your whole damn heart.

    Stop thinking.

Just do.

Feel the rain on your skin,

the wind in your hair,

the earth under your feet.

Just breathe, just be.

Scream.

Run.

Jump.

Fall.

Love.

Laugh.

Cry.

Feel.

Life’s too short for second guesses,

too fragile for regrets.

Stop thinking.

Just breathe.

Just be.

Premium Member If I Need a Friend Maybe Run Acrostic

(from Simon & Garfunkle's "Bridge Over Troubled Water)

If is such a weak word, it branches, crackling under foot.
You know it, but you use it to sing me into sleep, never suspecting
need dangles down upon my head, tickling and wrapping
a comforting hand upon my qualms. If lets you back out
friend, but you wait more patient than the coming of snow.

I'm me, its enough. My ifs and ands are more numerous than leaves
sailing as I kick them about. Leaves don't crackle, they weep
right into the concrete meaning of our existence. Uncertain moment
behind a closed door. Certain moment under a bed of dirt
like hugs from relatives you've never met before.

A friend though eclipses the daylight, becomes lightning to
bridge over or explode into laughter, where do I put them?
Over one shoulder like cast spilled salts? That seems sly,
troubled. Can I weave them together and have life?
Water offers that but slips away, how then bugs? Ducks?

I slip into water as easily as ifs are thrown into the winds.
Will my hair blow like an arrow toward fate or does chance
ease into icicles. They're weapons, ifs, ands, buts, maybes.
Your friendship is such, dressing and undressing like fashion
minds the sales racks. Still though, I'm glad that you and ifs are here.

I Loved

Mind, spirit and soul
Truth be told, I gave you my all
Friends didn't have to know about us
This was for my heart and yours to know.

I loved.
Took my heart on a journey
With a car that had its tank empty
But I knew that we'll get to the garage surely
But I didn't know that's where we were going.

It seemed as though you have better plans
So I put mine on the side and listened to your will and cans
That had no maybes so I was willing to ride this baby... Though it was empty.

Love is blind and maybe stupid
No,Love is not blind and I am not blind I just find reality too victimising so I
hide my small heart behind the saying "Love is blind"
As for it being stupid? NO! But just maybe our relationship was stupid.

So I walked away
Till a flood of tears caught up with me on my way
And I started floating back to you
Till I realised you caused the floods then went back to sunnydays.

I can't swim so I'll sit here until I'm covered with mud

Perhaps I walked away too far
When I turned, the journey back to you was too long
Perhaps, I gave up on you too fast that when I turned our car needed much
more than gas
But maybe the journey had to end eventually...

But wait you have my property
So we must end this properly
So I'll swim to where you are
My heart; that is all I want.

Getting constipated by anger
Over-controlled by feelings
Swimming in your tears
Added salt to my fears!

I found you exactly where I left you
I apologised for my mistakes long enough for you to finish fixing the breaks
The car was crumbling like dry cooked cakes
You told me that you found a she to help you cause I really caused you pain
You told me "I should stop talking to you, it'll ease the pain"
I went crazy thinking; "Are you insane? Do you know how bad it was,
swimming through that salty lane?"
You carried on saying "I'm feeling much better..."

Heartbeat got slow
I started thinking "Oh no! Yolanda you a monster for causing the guy so much
pain!
Yolanda you are stupid for risking so much for no gain!
But no way! I got pride so I won't let you see my pain
So instead I said "Oh...wow...okay...cool"
Hearing my heart beat slow
And a rock of sadness on my throat
I said "I will help you get better"

I'm starting my own flood and I hope it takes you away
Don't swim back to me.
