When I look at the flashing lighthouse
on an ocean between the shores of the soul
Mournful and exhausted, but no tears
      It is through our memories
      my day shall be measured
as a faded aged road sign with no way

“Memento Mori” (remember that you will die)
      Death is not an illusion
but a journey toward an unknown port
      A one way ticket
my grief will not hold you back

The priest said a few words in a monotone voice
the congregation responds: "Rest in peace"
A longing trembles in my heart
No one is lying on the pillow close to me
It's tough, but I can manage

When all seems dark and filled with gloom
I wear a mask and hide my mourning
although tomorrow, will be my worst fear
Miss you more than words can describe

No one can ignore or avoid death
      - one day we will meet again
They await you with love and anticipation
      on the other side

When the moon shines bright - I love you good night

Loss of a Loved One

The loss of a loved one
Is like the loss of a part of us
We feel so dry we won't be move
We cry so loud, we won’t be heard,

But all of this won’t bring them back.

We can try so much to cope with it
We bottle them up, till we crack.
They eat us up like ulcer
We feel so cold as though we are numb.
But all of this won’t bring them back.

We can hide behind this and feel terrible
We hurt all those that come so close
We cry and yell and feel unloved.
We try in vain to forget our world.
But all of this won’t bring them back.

In the midst of this we will lose something
That one we lost can cause us more
But if we free our mind and hold ourselves
A great lesson we will learn
That one we lost, many we will gain.
Yet, all of this won’t bring them back.

If you lose someone, or lost something
Don’t neglect those you have around.
If you get cold and drift away
You will feel bad and still feel hurt.
But all of these won’t bring them back.

We held hands for a while
There were no goodbyes
But I linger on thoughts
Of your twinkling eyes

Many a sky
And many a vista
Have been placed onto canvas
By the Earth's loving sister

Knitted jumpers
For kids who you never would meet
The twiddle-mitt queen
Your compassion complete

Trusting nature was always
Your truth and your way
Scotland's highlands the place..
Guess you'll be there today

So as sunset arrives
The most beautiful sky
Is a prelude to memories
Of the day that's flown by

There's a blindfold
To night that is rarely unveiled
Like a mystery cruise
On a ship that has sailed

As the sun dips behind
The still water of years
All the hugs and the smiles
Through the laughter and tears

Will linger in hearts
That are full as can be
For we'll miss you. Goodbye.
But we're glad you're now free.

Last Words To a Loved One

Hush now, close your tired eyes
For tomorrow there will be brighter skies
Rest now, for you have made your mark
You will be remembered when it all turns dark

Hush now, the pain will end I swear
I will remain by your side, for I am always there
Rest now, for you have had your time
And I know you are young and in your prime.

Hush now, for you are journey bound
Take his hand and follow, rise off the ground
Rest a while; you don’t have to fear any more
God’s love awaits you through his glittering door

Hush now; listen to the angelic call from above
With you always, in every whisper with all their love
Rest now, for his arms will embrace you always
We love you and will miss you throughout our lonely days

The True Story of a Loved One

It was on Friday night I got the call
Well a message on the phone so small
It said, John, its Al, bad news, call back
It's Mary and the news is black
Now, Alan is my brother in law
I called him back at half past four
It's Mary, he said, I was taken aback
She's had a massive heart attack
They rushed her to the hospital block
But she died just after two o'clock

So that's how I got the word
My big sister passing to the lord
Brutal, sudden, gone like that
We all rushed round to Alan's flat
No one tried to say a thing
The air was still, the eyes did sting
Words would not come, they never do
When someone goes, its kinda blue
Her daughters wept, as did her son
Hard for them, their mother gone

Mary was my eldest sister, Mary was my mother too
Mary commandeered respect, she would do her all for you
For thirty years she nursed the weak
If you needed help, it's her you seek
For thirty years she helped and cared
Those with illness, those impaired
Even in her teenage days, she was a Butlin's redcoat, on the stage
Bringing joy to a holiday camp
The kids all said she was the champ
God bless you Mary, they threw your mould
I hope your cloud is made of gold
You were more than a big sister to me
I was a branch but you was the tree

For All Those Who Lost a Loved One:

Even though
I have to say
goodbye...

Don't worry about
me, I'm in a better
place.

For when the sun
awakens you, you
will know that I'm
ok.

For when you see
a rainbow on a rainy
day...

I'm thinking about you,
of what you mean to me
that even in death...

You're still apart of me.

For when you feel sad,
lonely, like the world is
on your shoulder...

I'll be there to comfort
you.

I'll be your strength,
that'll help you chase
your fears away.

Even though
I have to say
goodbye...

I'm never far away.

For all you have to do
is listen to your heart,
to feel the touch of my
love.

Premium Member Eulogy For A Loved One

Poem for Dad

Of flesh and blood
that nature gives to our breath
must one day be given back
for life was lent by Earth's hand
and now it is returned

Dad though lives always in us

He is the movement of the swaying tree
The light that dawns our day
He is the sparkle glistening on the sea
The energy of the wave
He is the melody of the singing bird
The notes that flutter down
He is the rustling leaves that can be heard
The greening of the ground

All that was
that nature gave
became our love, our life, our friend

All that was
that nature gave
through us need never end

Dad, we return nature's gift
with the privilege such a gift was given

When a Loved One Dies

The grieving process have just begun,
My heart is filled with pain.
The sorrow, and lost is hard to bear,
Reality kicks in, in life the fact remain.

Death is a part of life though hard it may seem,
The natural mind cannot conceive, or believe.
The truth is, when a loved one is taken away,
It’s not a choice; we’ll all walk that road one day.

Don’t get mad at God and the decision he make,
Accept his wise wisdom and the choices take,
He knows the future; he still rules the world,
Later in life his reasons will unfold.

When a loved one dies it can be sad,
Sadness one can’t describe,
The thought of good times, laughter, and pain,
No answer in the room when you call their name.

A husband, father, brother, uncle the lot,
Three score and ten is the life’s span we’ve got.
By reason of strength, he passed four score and all,
How’s that for a life worth living, believe it or not.

Sleep on, Uncle Willie, and take your rest
We love you lots but God loves you best,
Life’s journey has ended, pain and sorrow cease,
You’re now safe in God’s arms, resting in peace.

Nostalgic of my Mom’s death…
… almost two decades ago…
then of my Dad’s demise---
--- in 2019---
here am I gripped with blest serenity
knowing that they both are with the Creator
by virtue of their faith in the Saviour
Who promised wondrous eternal life
to those that put their trust in Him---
the Way, the Truth, the Life.

Reminiscing those agonizing moments…
here am I thankful to God
for assuaging the afflicting pain
I had to battle with:
grief, separation-anxiety, loss.

Looking back…
here am I, having moved on
cognizant that death is a reality
to face with courage
an inevitability to expect midst hope
since it is just a temporal goodbye
along “till we meet again” blissful reunion.

Today…
here am I striving to empathize earnestly
prayerfully sympathizing with the bereaved
testifying that death is a divine milestone
affirming this Scripture’s truth:*
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather
to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

The Loss of a Loved One

Two pm

I awake, startled by the light of the lights

Dave, standing there beside me

“Wake up; He’s serious;

Close the door behind us”

You can’t leave me here, clueless!

One look at mama and I knew he’s gone.

Or on his way

“We shall let u know”

And they, through the door

Myself, confused,

Gathering all sorts of roses,

Prayers, pleas, tears!

An Ill-Fated Person Meeting His Loved One

'An Ill-fated Person Meeting His Loved One'

It snowed
And she appeared like the snow
She appears like the speed of a storm
I do not know when she arrived
Like a pleasant breeze
Why do I look for her somewhere else?

She is all wet in the heavy rain
The filth of the mind gets cleaned on her arrival
I get swayed when I see her
Why am I so?

The leaves have fallen dried
But she blooms at her fullest
Though this life is hers
Who am I becoming so covetous?

There is scorching heat, but she doesn’t sweat
She arrives like the hailstorm
But it’s me who sweat
Why am I so?

She smiles when we meet
She shies away when she sees
It seems my loved one sings and plays
But I go unmoved when I see her
Why am I so?

She appears in the early hours of the sun rise
But never disappears
And I keep imagining her
Why am I so?

She keeps saying, and I continue listening
It appears the life has begun glittering
And when I peep into her, she shies away
Why do I but peep to see her?

Those deer-like blue eyes
Tightened arms
Those movements of a cat-walk
And I wait her coming at the cross-road
Why do I wait her
When I do not know
The date and time of her arrival?

The God carved her
And showered his blessings
That the laughter and the joy be with her
Let no one do her any wrong
It has been ages that I haven’t seen her
But I can’t still forget her
Why am I so?

It snowed, and the snow melted
And then she rose
She bloomed and shied away like the storm
And then there is the scorching heat
I remember her in this heat now
I melt when I imagine her
Why am I so?

I don’t know why
I couldn’t get a sleep today
And there came a snowfall of the next year
I imagined a body like the snow
And thus my eyes opened
I met my loved one
What a fate I have?

Her legs staggered
Eyes wet with tears
Puckered lips
I could not tolerate the marks of lashes on her body
Why can’t I look at her
Even when I see her?

I heard to her sobbing voice
Exhausted shies and gestures
The snow melted unnoticed
And she too disappeared
What an ill-fated person I am
Meeting my loved one!

Sonnet 4 'The Beauty of the End, Is, It's Beginning'

The Beauty of the End, is, It's Beginning!
For Aspen never rise, till fire is still,
And all Endeavors, Loves, and Lives are Ash...
All that is product of the Human Will
Persists, till not a stone's upon a stone,
And every outbreath lifts the dust to motes,
Upon the Light that shows a Pilgrim Alone;
Gone far to see what's left -- dust chokes the throat...
So, Ancient Empires fall, but, 'apres le feu'*
The Aspens grow, and someday, gild the slope.
And Life and Death there dance a 'pas de deux',**
And Life gets the Applause, lets go Death's rope,
Death fades and bows and then... was never there...
And leaves a Scent of Morning on the Air...

"Those we love don't go away; They walk beside us every day;
Unseen, unheard but always near; Still loved, still missed, and dear."

                                                       Quote_ Anonymous

I will never forget when mother passed,
with one last gasp her soul entered a new domain:
her body died and she had peace at last,
but the love that we shared will never ever wane;
for I believe after death we live on,
we are in two realms and are never truly gone.

In a pretty cemetery she rests,
but when I visit .. my mother's soul is not there:
for I believe in this world we are guests,
I touch that name stone engraved and say a prayer;
my mother's soul surrounds me each new day,
she is that bird song, the rain, snow and trees that sway.

Heaven's golden gate will never be chained,
and mother's soul I embrace ... until my last breath:
for I shorn my human fear of the unexplained,
I let go of ignorance about death;
no longer am I blind in the darkness of gloom,
each soul exists beyond an earthly tomb.

I live each moment in the present now,
accept that my mother's death I will always grieve:
found my higher self on the path to Tao,
and a new map and unique existence ... I weave;
a way taking me to sublime insight,
where each day I am bathed in golden sunlight.

First Place

A Sweet Reminesce (To My Loved One James Kendrick)

So far away so said thy fate,
And only a promise to one day return.
It could be months, but likely years,
So, distance must I learn.

Never cried a tear so hard,
When I had to let you stay,
As behind I left you with a tender kiss,
As I flew so far away.

And when I tremble in the pain,
The love and beauty I must recall.
Memories, memories hold me up,
And please don't let me fall.

To reminesce on your soft lips,
That whispered in my ear,
Many a times throughout the night,
Those words I love to hear.

A night to sleep upon your chest,
And listen to your heart.
And through the songs it sang to me,
I knew we'd never really be apart.

And you held me so close,
Kept me safe; kept me warm.
You were there to wipe away my fears,
And save me through the storm.

I gave to you not only my heart,
But my life and innocence.
And in that I also handed you,
My soul, in a sense.

I love you James. . .

Remembrance of a Loved One

Sorrow is a hard thing to know. Pain and anger is a hard thing not to show. Joyful memories are with-in our hearts. Memories of our loved ones who had to part So when pain and sorrow takes over our souls,
Remember the joyful memories as they want us to know.
As we look for peace and tranquility To keep us alive and carefree That's the way they would want us to be. To live life like there is no tomorrow, And let go of all that pain and sorrow.
Remember... It take a minute to say good bye, An hour to miss them And a lifetime to forget them.
