Best Looms Poems
A cold lion roams, doctrinaire and sterile,
The expanse of Africa offers him no sanctuary, the Saringehti no salvation,
He can only smell the scent of his pride now, his cubs shun him,
Repelled by needless roars, the revolting rants,
Tail tattered, biten by jackels at will,
His nose bit and beaten from battles better avoided,
Soul tethered to a label, only a title, "King of the Jungle" ,
Fleas and insects of all sorts find haven in his muddy mane
once so puffed and wide like a thunderhead trampling over Tanzania,
I hear him in the twilight, lonely, unsated and undesired,
Paranoid about a life that does not seem to love him,
His heart became a desserted Athens, a broken, rigid column slumped on the earth,
He wanders near the Nile, nearsighted and nervous
As an Egyptian boy of ancient lineage stalks him sensitively
Putting the speartip to own temple saying,
I see your ribs, your broken paws, your futility,
I will now deliver your soul unto the cool night,
The spear is launched with a certain bloodlust
piercing behind the shoulder blade, his heart hollers
with the cry of scarred suprise, the lion stumbles and pants
vanity not allowing blame for lack of vigilance,
the boy trots to the spot, kneels in token reverence
telling him, sip the black puddle of your error, as eyes fold ever shallow,
let me feed you these apples of arrogance
so to quiet your grievence, to sooth your ego before final sight,
there is no shame in being slain by a Pharoah King, old lion,
I shall wear your teeth as a timeless trophy of tragedy,
Emblematical of Pride gone on too long,
may the spirit of Herodetous teach this lesson to a new breed -

on recess, while
a mess still looms
complimenting her
on the stylish new haircut-
his wife looks daggers

finger pointing to the sky...
destruction looms
evil looms nearby
lurking in shadowed corners ~
shrill, the raven's caw
The stars are singing sweetly tonight,
our love looms in lasting light.

Hecate, a guide, has presided over my dreams.
Moneca, it’s vital essence, but a stagnate stream.
Love upon tattered wings - nowhere to fly,
upon the Glacier “ Indifference “ – disintegrating – doth die
a little, with the negative, critical, judgmental – put down
never ceases, never ends, just keeps going round and round.
In sight, there seems to be no end
from the one loved - am a friend!
Horizon looms ahead
Helios, the fire, the light, the passion.
One foot on the edge, darkness a destination
from which Love’s journey never returns.
The soul, spirit, the heart continues – Beauty burns
what life they give, throwing them into hell fires
trying to kill the essence of what this heart desires

When you are wrinkled, and old and grey
And resting in your reclined chair
And when silence looms and warms the air
Your troubled thoughts seem fade away
Forgotten memories, long gone, lie black
And loved ones lost along the road
Then, smiles and tears in over-load
When heartfelt memories start to come back
Take off those specs and wipe your tears
That dripped onto your wrinkled face
And stay like dust- that happy place
When you remember thoughts from all your years
You think he’d be more grateful.
Neither rich nor poor he’s
never wanted for anything.
He's always had what he needs
but never had any gratitude
until the day his car broke down
in a poor neighborhood and he
got out of his car to wave the
tow truck down and gasped
at the poverty around him.
He’ll catch hell about this
the next time I shave.

Little rubber bands
colours all abound
make something unique
break new ground
There you are
lovely little charm
makes one think
this no sham
Like my bracelet?
what a jewel
bright golden sparkle
ain't that cool
Rainbow loom
proven real find
catches imagination
always on your mind
AUTHOR NOTES: The latest craze amongst the young is 'rainbow loom', a plastic loom used to weave colourful rubber bands into bracelets and charms, so this is written with these thoughts in mind.
Ahead there looms a mountain
We see it in the sun
A symbol of hope and beauty
A laurel proudly won,
A tall and stately statue
To lift the soul's despair
Clothed in strength and valor
Bathed in crispy air.
A monument to loftiness
From Nature's gifted hands
The length of darkened valley
Majestic mountain spans.
We choose the path we follow
Our soul will stand the test
Did we walk the valley
Or the mountain crest?

The due date approaches; the deadline looms
Irritation's in the air; annoyance fumes
A cauldron boils in every newsroom
The tension's palpable; nerves are frayed
Editors hit the ceiling
At mistakes never made
Ill winds are blowing of mounting desperation
Cooler heads giving way to righteous indignation
Utter frustration in the act of creation
Now the boss' out his mind; he's gone off the deep end
Taken it out on someone; flown right off the handle
Only to land himself head first in a scandal...
So remember, all you newsies, stay under control
Not blowing up's your primary goal
Meet your deadline; don't forfeit your soul
evil looms
weaving the fabric of deceit
chatter incessantly
