Silence Looms

When you are wrinkled, and old and grey And resting in your reclined chair And when silence looms and warms the air Your troubled thoughts seem fade away Forgotten memories, long gone, lie black And loved ones lost along the road Then, smiles and tears in over-load When heartfelt memories start to come back Take off those specs and wipe your tears That dripped onto your wrinkled face And stay like dust- that happy place When you remember thoughts from all your years

Dear Charlie, your poem is such a poignant piece so beautifully expressed. Old age and nostalgia go hand in hand.. hopefully the happy side of memories outweigh the bad or sad, and we "stay like dust- that happy place" - an amazing line btw.. :) Warmest wishes my dear poet friend.. ~Susan
