Lizards

lizards

black tar sweats, squabbles, shakes in the glare of the ocean of blue.
white light engulfs the sky.
stealing the heat we grip the ground with our claws.
scan the black tar with our yellow eyes.
our blood begins to warm.
her hair is melting to soft green scales and mine to black
blending into the ground.
we are lizards,
we laze in the sun,
it cannot scare us with its glare
we are lizards,
silent strong quick predators,
unnoticed yet still there.

we stalk a flying bumble bee; shattered glass, yellow string
buzzing it moves anxiously, falling, rising in the wind

she moves too slowly to catch it
it glides higher in the sky
we watch as it soars to freedom
we should have learnt to fly

black tar engulfs my vision
cradles and crushes my head
white noise of harsh invasion
her cry consumes my dread
our scales snapped
they tear from our skin
without amour to shield the attack
a stampede of torn and dirty shoes feast upon the remains
they dig and dive into my stomach
with intent to play their games

teeth of bound dark leather
snouts of practiced malice
souls etched with childrens patterns
dirt and gum
now printed on our bodies

with one more laugh and a jolt of pain
they leave

my eyes are blue now
and hers are drowning
the sky is blue
the day pleasant
the floor warm
but the trance has gone
our reality mangled

we are no longer lizards
we cannot pretend anymore
we are children
weak, shy, yet far too noticed
labelled, bruised and saw.

Premium Member My Cat Likes Lizards

My cat likes lizards
while I prefer wizards
for breakfast or dinner each day
she also likes frogs
that are sitting on logs
while I prefer drinking "Cool-aid."

She's just a poor cat
nothing too wrong with that
even if she likes licking her paws,
I'll keep her my pet
even when I'm upset
to see a lizard caught
right in her jaws.

Lady Who Wore Her Lizards

There is a man who sits still and counts me numbers ,
He had the nerve to stare me down to put me under ,
such deep eyes of sincerity indeed ,
There was no caution for him deliberately making me crazy ,
i trusted one who i thought was my equal ,
all i have done is pleaded to not be this fickle,
Someone such as this , fed on my heart ,
how would you know such a enemy , if you fell once again to your own stupidity,
one can be in rapture , from one to ten ,
this unrequited love is something i can no longer bare.

i try too hard ,
i love too deep ,
no i will not regret anything ,
i try to hard ,
i love too deep ,
no i will not regret anything

There was a lady who wore her lizards,
there was no excuse for her sybarite actions,
Her thoughts so buried ,
you could feel she forbidden herself to breathe,
she had no caution she deliberately made me crazy ,
i gave her my heart ,
she drained my veins dry ,
such a lady wasnt ever my enemy ,
such love i was shown freely ,
this rapture i was in , was something i was grateful of knowing ,
something i thought was equal ,
but such plans where to neglect me,
so she can have her tranquility ,
was only a platonic love something i can no longer bare.

I try to hard,
 i love too deep ,
no i will not regret anything

i try to hard ,
i love too deep ,
no i refuse to regret any of these

Warning - Lizards Don'T Smoke

This is a non-smoking area
Lizards keep out
Smoking is bad for your health
Long tongues and swerving bodies are not welcome
Cold blooded creatures beware
Strike matches elsewhere, (California has sanctuary zones)
Surgeon generals are lined up against you
To decapitate your kind, decaffeinate your sodas
Next on the list are turtles and frogs
Fat reptiles are not permitted in NY City
Smokers will be executed then put on trial
Liberals are coming after you
They love endangered species
Ash trays are ornamental
Kept in museums next to dinosaurs
It was not asteroids that killed the ancient lizards
Butt cigarettes without filters

The Lizards

When I was a kid
I shook the tail of lizards
To make them tailless!

Lizards of Galapagos

Lizards of Galapagos

Lizards on Galapagos are large
With appendages going this way and that
Not human in most regards
Iguanas crawl and that’s not all
They dance the Fandango but not the Hula
(In consideration of the rules)
We are happy to report
They eat flesh but not in church
Sex is forbidden as well
In isles and in pews
All creatures on Galapagos have lizard smiles
Are quiet when they sleep
And when they die…
Become extinct

Lizards Or Birds

Lizards or Birds

What difference would it make to the humans in the mezoic age if the dinosaur
was made of leather or just skin with wings or without a giant bird or reptile if
your hanging in it is mouth a morsel for the smorgasbord of love without a doubt
just making meat for something else to eat and hanging out. Let us ask the
paleontologist the good Dr. Hice sir in laymen's terms please tell us all you knoe
about the dinosaurs. The eye once saw a giant condor face to beak without a
doubt the ugliest of creeps the bird was ugly you had to be there sort of thing. And
Stinks. In my humble opinion the dinosaurs were never lizards but most all of
them was birds at least the condor were.

Lizards

L
Lovely, long lizards,
guardians of the porch.

I
Indomitable reminders of a time,
now gone.

Z
Zebra striped and plain,
all the very same.

A
All about their business on their way...
somewhere.

R
Running to and froe,
the pattern of your passing,
for those that want to know!

D
Days of splendor in the heat,
and ice in the cold.

S
Standing in the sand,
like a country band.

The Lizards

The lizards scamper up and down
The back porch, on the screen,
Their presence part and parcel
Of the landscape, lush and green.

I'm visiting in Florida,
A far cry from the cold,
Although it's pretty warm back home;
At least that's what I'm told.

Vacations should transport you
To what's different and new
Or else they aren't doing
What you'd hoped that they would do.

If weather won't cooperate,
(Who knows what makes it tick?)
At least I'm still transported
For the lizards did the trick.

Dinner At the Lizards

Lizard mesmerizes prey
Insect wings are quite fast
Eyes swirling about bulge out
Dinner is but a tongue strike away
Let us pray

As the Flying Lizards Glide

E-arly light has come out,
D-ark clouds leave the lane;
G-ray haze has disappeared,
A-n amazing beacon denies the
R-ain.

S-econd March warm Wednesday,
E-vening chill fades away;
R-ise of the sun begins,
R-ed rays brighten the day.
A-s you wake from slumber,
N-o mist and fog outside;
O-pen your eyes to the dawn, as the flying lizards glide.

They (wife and children) are scared to see it,
As though Dinosaur made another writ;
Hearing its rudely vexatious squealing,
Each found corners feeling unappealing...!

To me it seemed a pet, like dog or cat,
Though I hated the way on wall it sat;
And when its number increased like sea-sands,
I knew I cannot chase them by my hands...!

Bad Omen - My kith and kin said firmly,
Destroy them lest they destroy you warmly;
Pesticides or parquet - anything works,
They are, often, mere mentally-ill berks...!

I could not decide; I have heard often,
They get soften and squeeze into coffin;
Make human body mingle with the earth,
Bring about resurrection and rebirth...!

I felt numb when one such fell on my head,
It causes illness within mind, they said;
I prepared myself: Lo! One day, two, three,
I could never find myself less than free...!

Keep peacock feathers in rooms; they will die;
Spray petrol; they will surely soon bid good-bye;
Why trouble, some said, Just naphthalene balls,
Smell of these any such realm overhauls...!

I could not, having tried, many great ways.
I thought, they are just God-given sun-rays;
That try to teach us humans something strange:-
Courage must exceed any mountain-range...???

Premium Member CATERPILLARS AND BABY LIZARDS

If I’m ever filled with dread…feelings of gloom and doom….
I look for new leaves on the trees…and flowers about to bloom.

I greet the stars up in the sky…watch the sun rise on a new day…
I stop and watch baby rabbits in the field as they play.

I listen to the baby birds in their nests…not quite ready to fly free…
I look out on the water and find baby dolphins in the sea.

This time of year in Florida…I like to walk real slow…
and greet the caterpillars and baby lizards everywhere I go.

Why is this important…because in the way it helps me cope.
It reminds me how Mother Nature has not lost her hope.

If she wasn’t filled with hope…if she was filled with gloom and doom
she wouldn’t encourage her trees to grow new leaves…
or invite her flowers to bloom.

She wouldn’t excite the birds to sing…
or inspire the stars to shine up in the sky…
and if Mother Nature places her hope in caterpillars and baby lizards
then, Gook Heavens, so will I.
