Life Is a Dance

Sometimes life is such a bore we run on automatic;
Then it’s time to tango for a dash of the dramatic.
Or when things are dull and only gusto will suffice,
We cha-cha or calypso to inject a dose of spice.

We hustle off to work each morning, foxtrot through the day
And hope that time’s electric slide just melts the hours away.
At clock-out time we say goodbye and jitterbug on out;
We hokey-pokey home because that’s what it’s all about.

Some easy days we waltz on by; we’re caught up in the swing
And lindy-hop or tap our way through all that life can bring.
We may go round in circles or, to deal with our despair,
Find someone we can partner with and do-so-do with flair.

For life is like a dance and we are held within its sway;
We dip and twirl and fake the steps, from polka to ballet.
The music of the atmosphere imbues us with its beat
And if we choose to hear it, we just follow with our feet.

Premium Member Life Is Fine

This life is fine
The world is mine
Though I can’t stop
The hands of time

The birds all sing
And flowers bloom
The sun still shines
And chases gloom

And I can view
The sparkling sea
And all the stars
Just dance with me

The clouds, they hide
And I must seek
The creatures small
At me, they peek

The grass is cool
Beneath my feet
The water dew
Now wets my cheek

I have true friends
A family
And hope of an
Eternity

A place where I
Will not fear death
Where all is sweet
Upon my breath

Where tears will cease
to touch my face
And I am blessed
By Heaven’s Grace

My life is fine
The world is mine
This is my time
To truly shine

Premium Member Life Is Like a Leaf

We'll watch in awe and witness talking leaves
In multicolored hues their story told
With heavy heart their passing we will grieve
Their memory, like weather soon grows cold

So quickly through the glass our trickling sand
Twas yesterday spring flowers were in bloom
Today the autumn colors are at hand
Tomorrow deserts rise to windswept dunes

Yet with the winds of time the leaves will blow
Like sands and days, they'll fall and disappear
Their time on earth like ours from green to gold
Except for them, whose destiny was clear

The story of our life is like a leaf
Bring beauty to this world, however brief

Premium Member Our Life Is a Poem

life is a guesthouse,
no one overstays their welcome.

As background music
slowly muffles into softer tones,
breaths struggle to appease.
Deep painful faint sighs,
fall like crumbling leaves -
I'm vulnerable like a naked tree.

Autumnal eyes gaze
towards my looming winter garden.
Heart is a paper bag of emotions,
now full of leftover crumbs -
where spring once merged with summer petals.

Mind is a vague collection of
recollections and reflections -
forgotten memories, unfulfilled promises,
words lost in silence.

Destiny tested with her games.
I am still a humble child,
with no care for winning, nor losing -
settling for her stalemate.

Regret is that untraveled path,
not following the signs - reluctant
to feast from the garden of her Eden -
pondering if it was worth the sin.

Now
so many watery eyes,
resonate like violin tears.
Brown, green and blue -
but I do not see hers.

Motionless with shivers and chills,
Lights are dimming, silence is manifesting.
In haziness, silhouettes appear,
as life begins to disappear -
I can barely hear the music.

Our life is a poem,
each beat of our hearts a drop of ink.
Some leave behind words,
some blank pages.

Premium Member Life is a song

“When I am silent, I fall into the place where everything is music.”
Rumi

If life was a song,
what would be your refrain?

When instruments of fate performed
in a ballad of somber sorrows,
I floated like a ballet dancer
in an eclectic fashion.

My silent tongue had no melody,
before love sowed harmonic tones,
in a reverberating remedy of refreshing
rhythms soothing a tortured soul.
As my voice softened in a symphony
of violin strings and saxophone vibratos,
our bond composed a chorus of notes,
like satin feathers from hummingbirds
in soft clarinet choral chords,
only heard in an orchestra of a
velvet butterfly renaissance.

You always have my songs on repeat,
but I wonder if you will change the record?

Together we write lyrics,
sing verses as distant duets
with drumbeat dynamics.
Yet I am a metaphor of saffron rays
lost in the absence of lilac moonlight.
Everyday you disappear with dawn,
as morning whispers her blessings.
I'm left alone with birdsongs,
who join in with my colourless chorus -
echoing my angst of yearning to be free.

I wonder if you will remain a twilight sonata.

If you are the ebony to my ivory keys
in this crescendo of bohemian dreams,
why can't we be boundless as the sea?

This vinyl veil we call existence
is a composition of heartbeats
with heartstrings woven into
a vibrant bridge of emotions.
Sadly no pedestal can reach
lingering lullabies of the sky,
so we continue to cast hues
of golden heavenly harps,
before final tenors are heard.

If life was a song,
our refrain would be an acoustic
with steady beats, sometimes
with too much bass to air -
but we can control the volume.

Tempo will always change
like a decrescendo,
but we are the conductors
of our own musicality.

Not all serenades sounds the same -
no muse sings forever.

Poetry is the power of defining the indefinable
             in terms of the unforgettable
                                         ~ LOUIS UNTERMEYER

all of life is a poem
sometimes the inkwell is empty
the quill rests
the deer pants for a stream
but finds only hardscrabble land

all of life is a poem
as we rearrange its lines
to find rhyme in mayhem
          beauty in chaos
          reason in ambiguity
          hope in a dungeon

all of life is a poem
sometimes
sometimes it gets put into
                                                    words

Premium Member -LIFE IS NOT A BATTLE FIELD - POTD

Be strong in your beliefs and opinions
Give and receive them respectfully
Discuss , debate, disagree ,
Devoid of anger and intimidation
Be polite and behave graciously

Don’t try and change opinions
Or what others believe
With intimidation and insults
Just amicably disagree

Why the desire to be hurtful
Trying to out-speak and outdo
Using sarcasm just to be heard
Desperate for control and that final word

Stop being childish and hateful
Bullying is not a game
Spewing ugly vindictive words
Is not the way to make positive change

Insecurities play a part with bullies
Due to lack of self worth and self esteem
Feeling stronger in who they are
When humiliating and simply being mean

Strive for a better way
Strive for a more positive you
There are no wrongs or rights
Just different points of view

Try kindness and compassion
Seek qualities in your fellow mankind
Don’t engage in belittling interactions
Igniting troubled minds

Life is not a competition
A constant game of tit for tat
Being confrontational and critical
Is not the way decent humans act

You have created your own personal battle field
Fuelled by antagonism and controversy
It must be so emotionally draining
Being consumed with malice and negativity

Premium Member Life Is For the Living

Today another angel got her wings
Promoted for a job well done on earth
Rejoice! In heaven, all the angels sing
His grace has filled her with angelic mirth

Though quickly earth reclaims the pyre's ash
How swift the ceaseless seasons of the sun
Grief fades and loneliness becomes the lash
A harsh reminder of that special one

But in our times of sad and dark despair
Our angel fans the dying flame of love
No longer suffering, her joy she shares
Reminding us she's waiting up above

This life is for the living, not the dead
Our day will come, when no more tears are shed

The Life Is

The Life Is …

The Life Is …
When I was young, there was no pain,
The only pain was to complain.
When I was young, I did not care,
Just as long as my love was there.
When I was young, my life was great.
But I was there a bit too late.
A bit too late to know life was,
being young and having no flaws.
A bit too late to celebrate,
What I had then was called my fate.
Now it’s different, weather is cold,
I turned into a man that’s old.
The spring has passed, summer is gone,
Autumn at rest, winter is on.
I am too old and know it’s gone.
It is too dark to hope for dawn.
Now I know that a part of life,
It is old age and lives with strife.
Now I know that my life is not,
The perfect plan when I had thought.
The life is not the silken dress,
Unmarked from flaws, full of success.
My life is just a song I sing,
It is winter chasing the spring.
It is sorrow, it is laughter,
It is hope for morning after.
My life is just a long poem,
Had a young star; none would know him.
The life is just a shooting star,
It is so bright but can’t go far.
Blink your eyes; it’s all be gone,
I played this game like a faceless pawn.
I played so well; somehow, I lost.
You don’t want me to count my cost.
My life is like a field of dream,
Or maybe like a moonlit stream.
My life is like a drop of dew,
Waiting the Sun to say adieu.
My life is like the dew at dawn,
The sun will kiss; it will be gone.
My life is not to be just young,
It is okay to be unsung.
My life is like the morning breeze,
It can bring storms or bring you ease.
You are hoping for one more dream,
That wakes you up in golden gleam.
The life is like a candle’s flame,
It lights up love or burns to blame.
The games are on, and the moves are fast.
I do not know how long they last.
For some, it’s short; for some, it’s long.
Go have more fun; it is not wrong.
Remember now, it might get late,
Go play your move before checkmate.

Note: The painting is called “A reminder”; it’s acrylic on wood.
Note: This style of poetry is called "Masnavi"; it is the spiritual couplets. This particular masnavi consists of eight syllables in each line. Poetrysoup has a great explanation and example of this form of poetry.

Life Is Like a Pizza Pie

Your life is like a pizza pie,
With wisdom you should long or yearn;
It is not just a food to eat,
But also a lesson to learn.

With different sizes it is
Available just anywhere;
When you leave your house to buy one,
As you return it is a square.

Eager to see the bread inside,
The package with care you handle;
The moment you open the box,
What you have found is a circle.

It's so hard to turn a blind eye
To this tasty, delightful dough;
As you begin eating a piece,
It's triangle, you ought to know.

Constant change is in the world,
From good reason to alibi;
Your behavior improves in time,
Your life is like a pizza pie.

Life Is What You Make It

I've been around a lotta years!
I've traveled the road of life!
I've had many, many, ups and downs,
times of joy, and grief, and strife!

I've tried my best, to keep looking ahead,
but on occassion, I'd pause to reflect!
I call upon, hard lessons learned,
to attain the results, that I expect!

I tried to shape my future,
from transgressions, I've endured.
I kept my "best foot forward",
in hopes my success, would be assured!

Mistakes are part of living,
they're part of who we are.
Yes, life can be bewildering
and sometimes quite bizarre!

It's how we react when troubled!
How we handle times of stress,
that determines what will happen
and if we will, attain success!

The Power of Positive Thinking
is the key to getting thru!
Wheather or not, you attain your goal,
is strictly up to you!

Intestional Fortitude, is what it takes,
to help create your aspirations!
It will give the courage and strength you need,
to reach your long-range expectations!

So, be assertive and determined!
Don't let doubt, get in your way!
Life is what you make it,
what more is there to say!

Premium Member Life Is Short

it seems in just the twinkling of an eye
life passes by
and one's left at the brink
with time to think
before the fall
into the great abyss
where did time go?

For some, life is short
for others, long
But the years don't count
Nor do the hours
It's the moments which capture eternity

You can live a lifetime in a moment
and face death happy and proud
for eternity has been tasted and lived
Cowardice kills
Bravery lives
Be brave enough to follow your dreams
Don't settle for second best
Mediocrity weighs you down
numbs and suffocates
Cling to your passion
Blaze in its flame
be honest with your soul
in that bid to be whole...
BE HONEST WITH YOUR SOUL!

When you deny your soul
you start to die

Above all....
LOVE
with PASSION
as if this were the last time
your lips were to taste
desire's embrace
or eyes were to see
that blessed face
Don't make haste
LIVE

Love
Love is the sum total of life
if you have loved
you have lived...
and if you have truly lived love's life
you can die content
for eternity has been yours
for a moment
in
time

Jade Celeste

I recently showed some photos to my class of a young man in his twenties who lost his battle with Cystic Fibrosis. His sister is my daughter's age, and once when she visited Cyprus, I took her and my daughter and another friend out. She loved me and added me on Facebook. I've followed her brother's journey with avid interest and pain. Her younger brother has cystic fibrosis as well, and her husband has it. He recently had a lung transplant...and for a time, Hannah didn't know if he would make it to the wedding. So much pain in her life. I've recently shared on FB at her request, a site where people can make donations to raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis. My heart aches for her in her time of mourning. We complain about insignificant things, when all Ben wanted was to be able to breathe free and LIVE!!!

What is life? The Bible says that it's like a flower...here today and gone tomorrow. We complain...about so many things...not realizing that every day we live is a gift that's not guaranteed to many. We need to cherish those who matter. Live life to the full. Find and grasp happiness. LIVE LOVE....LOVE! :) That's the sum total of life.

Life Is Not That Complicated.

Life is so short and grand,
to time, we are one grain of sand.
In our lives we carry around so much pressure,
this is our one shot, so read this as a refresher.

Your name will not ring out in history or space,
one day everything will end, even the human race.
So why sit down and let another make you cry?
Tell them to kiss you right above your thigh.

When a person walks past you and smiles,
mirror it and the chain reaction continues for miles.
If you see someone uncomfortable and out of place,
go talk to them, because you will forever be in their grace.

This life isn't too hard to figure out,
being nice is what its all about.
There is so much out there to hurt and make you grieve,
I'm letting you know its alright to enjoy life, sit back and just breathe.

10, 20, 30, or 40 years from now on your death bed,
what are the things that will be going through your head?
If you don't like what you see, not one bit,
guess what, its not too late, so go ahead and change it.

I can't tell you what to do, or how to act,
but everyone can do it, that is a fact.
Tomorrow when you wake up, do what you see fit,
remember this and in life, a home run you will hit.

Premium Member Life - Is - Now

A diaphanous veil
This world to next
Yet what's beyond
Still keeps us vexed

We dangle on
Such wispy threads
Just a fancy's flight
From fancy breads

We take for granted
Each new breath
When naught but heartbeats
From our death

So, fill your days
With purpose, rife
For all we really have ...
Is LIFE.

Life Is War

Life is war

Life is war....
we go to battle every single day,
feeling more and more like castaways,
in this ever churning sea

Oh, oh, life is war....
with each new day bringing calamity,
this world keeps messing with our sanity
till we can't take anymore

Chorus
But...love soldiers on...
together we are strong...
each battle we have won...
our love goes on and on...
Love soldiers on.

Life is war...
Lost and stranded in a mental maze
Strafing bullets through the purple haze
letting in a ray of sun

Oh, oh, Life is war...
wondering if this is what's meant to be
or is there changing one's own destiny
to bring joy to everyone

Chorus
But...love soldiers on...
together we are strong...
each battle we have won...
our love goes on and on...
Love soldiers on.

Life is war...
We're surrounded by our enemies,
back to back we fight while on our knees,
as we pray for better days

Oh, oh, Life is war...
we stumble on through each catastrophe,
trying to find joy in the misery,
as we try to find our way

Chorus
But...love soldiers on...
together we are strong...
each battle we have won...
our love goes on and on...
Love soldiers on.

yes, love soldiers on
yes, love soldiers on

repeat and fade
