Best Licking Poems
Initially, Lady adopted just the gray One for love and fun.
A pal gifted another, a kitten who needed a Mother.
Though spayed, One let Two nurse and her milk did disburse,
said a Vet whose face crunched, bemused and confused.
For One and Two days passed with Lady’s love steadfast.
Cat Three showed in winter’s cold, wanting warmth’s hold.
At first, Three was snubbed by grown One and growing Two.
Eventually their curiosity was peaked by things Three did do,
strange things Cat One and Cat Two could not reason thru.
Three stole garments from the basket of Lady’s dirty clothes,
dragged them into corner places that she carefully chose,
and then she, Cat Three, exposed all to odd licking throes.
Appalled, One and Two would withdraw and prissily pose,
until pride turned trite when Lady raced a laser, red light.
Four showed one Spring day, when Lady saw a gray tail sway
belonging to a striped, cat-baby who had no home or safety.
Lady immediately, eagerly, telephoned her brother, Clark,
and asked if Four would officially make her a Crazy Cat Lady.
He spoke, but she could not quite hear the words from Clark,
not over his ten dogs harmonizing a united, piercing bark.
Wishes are for fishes
fishes are for dishes
often finger licking
in spite of fish bones pricking.
"Licking Life’s Luscious Lips"
Life viewed
ephemeral
pulsating, stroking
many smooth angles
there are no sharp
golden lit angels found here
touting
slippery sails
floating away
to dreamland swinging
self righteous
sermons
burning
for something
"MORE"
tripping on
tarnished halos
twisting dreams
of a life ordinary
natural
hunts
through
the faux
goodbye Poe
when Summer comes
to kiss off the wintry
long dark good knights
jades now see fully
through the kaleidoscope
blushing entries
expectant arrivals
shown
exiting
flushed contesting
through the consistent
revolving door
evolvers evolving
revealing
strident smiles
minds
repetitive
complex music
sedative
long legged demon
dropping old chapters
tearing pages
of wasted time
strategic
feral, wild
contemplating
fresh conviction
lost lexicon
freed loose matters
decisions threaded
through haystack needles
licking life’s luscious lips
feline hungry
preying for
the crème de la crème
the cherry's always
on top
LOVE
like a cat
kneading ...

We used to lick our postage stamps
To stick them on a letter;
But now the stamps do self-adhere,
Yet does that make life better?
And that’s how Vanya’s rant begins
In Chris Durang’s new play*
Which I feel very privileged
To have watched and loved today.
The character bemoans the fact
That life has changed so much;
Today we need technology
Like weakness needs a crutch.
And though life seems much easier,
It comes at quite a cost.
The things that once connected us
Have somehow all been lost.
The younger generation
Can’t remember stamps we licked;
And the old days being better
They would surely contradict.

what better love
what truer devotion
that my love who sits as close as he can get
waits as long as he can
then licks the tears falling from my cheeks
carefully tenderly
he ministers
his eyes dont leave mine
his paw holds me still
he's not done
sobs concern him
he lowers his head and his brows furrow
what to do
in a minute, in a minute
he waits patiently
knowing things are not right
he stands guard
true love
true devotion
pumpkin pie
Tasty finger licking
Delicious almost dissolving
right on top of my tongue and inside
My mouth I sat there and waited
Cause pie was so hot
Burnt is what got
I cry

I once lived with a yapping trash-licker
a two faced dead soul and side back kicker
she treated me like a tart~
I didn't like her rotting fart
makes my golden fringe cringe, and grow thicker..
She’s a noodle-haired witch..selling old fries
flying in over-sized panties, she cries
begging to be seen, she craps,
beware of her diss rap traps
I ain't her nanny to sing when she lies..
There's a colonel in most every town
And chicken he does know
But the youth of today are not finger licking
They're licking of the toads
When they run out of their drugs
They must run out of their minds
When the toad lickers come a licking
Best to run and hide
Yes, they've found a brand new high
When their pot is running low
The poppy fields have all run dry
And the cow patty mushroom is no mo
The city kids head to the swamps
Just hopping at the thrill
Grabbing at amphibians
And licking them at will
With every tantalizing lick
Trippy little colors do they see
Pass around the froggy
For another lick if you please
Makes you wonder what's up
And how can this be fun
When it's obvious
They'll have warts on their tongue
But who am I to judge
As crazy as it looks
Could it be as bad as crack
With one lick and your hooked
I have this nagging question though
That bothers me to this day
Who was the first to lick the toad
And say this taste okay

Marie's recipes finger-licking, why
poor Raymond lived dangerously close by
Deborah sure not expert
pretty disgruntled Robert
gourmand Dad happily gulped the whole pie!

When I'm licking toads I regress into a dream
Glory is bestowed you won't believe what I have seen
We travel this same road don't know where it may lead
The greedy overload take much more than they need
When I'm licking toads I slip inside a dream
After a smoke I think I know what this all means.
When my mind is high so much higher than a kite
Something stirs inside like my soul has taken flight
Those things that hide in life often side by side
Have faith that real Love will never tell a lie
When my mind is high like that flying kite
This feeling deep inside can never be denied.
When I feel like this I giggle like a loon
Could be really tall look down upon the moon
Life should be a ball wake every day at noon
Please don't crash and fall don't come home too soon
When I feel the urge to giggle like a loon
Body stays put my spirit surges past the moon.
When I'm on the roll and leaping cloud to cloud
It's nothing like a stroll through the Sheeping crowds
With policeman on payroll that shouldn't be allowed
The dick's shout like trolls so very very loud
When I'm on the roll and roaring through the crowds
I like nothing more than soaring through the clouds.
When I need to see there's more than meets the eye
I close them both and look out through my mind
The ignorant could think I'd be rendered blind
The arrogant would say it's all a waste of time
They can't see the joy hiding just behind the eyes
They have closed their eyes, but they have shut their minds.
When your spirits free and truly can it roam
Just Let It Be you'll find your own way home
You could follow me til your confidence has grown
There will come a time when you can make it on your own
When you spirits free and it's truly had a roam
Just Let It Be who cares if you make it home.
When evening turns t morning in barely but a blink
The realizations dawning from that time to think
Got no time for yawning need to find that missing link
You won't find me snoring but i'l teeter on the brink
When evening turns to morning hardly time to blink
The realizations dawning that I begin to stink.
Lola likes to lick lots of lollies.
Lots of Lollies Lola likes to lick.
What kind of lollies does Lola like to lick?
Lola likes to lick lemon lollies.
Lemon lollies are what Lola likes to lick.
Lola was licking lemon lollies late last night.
Late last night lots of lemon lollies Lola licked.
Why was Lola licking lots of lemon lollies late last night?
Because lemon lollies linger longer and are finger-licking good!

DON’T STOP LICKING THE BOWL
For the child in me, the child in you,
days of chocolate cake for two;
and no matter how we flowers bloom,
leave a little on the spoon...
and when our stories are often told,
our heads gray, our hearts are gold,
like fragrant gardens now in bloom,
our legacies are left there in the room,
and no matter how primped or dignified,
our nails be done, our hairs be dyed,
Let the gossip be good but truthfully told,
that we never stopped licking the bowl!
Licking River, a tributary of the Muskingum in Ohio
It's a Shawnee word for “swampy ground” it ain't a typo
Bet you're glad you tuned in
Hope it made you grin
It's why I'm here, to spread good cheer on this sideshow
Crystal blue sparkling water, topped with white foam.
Licking gently the warm sandy beach.

Something soothing about blueberry juice that is colored blue,
Vibrant in color yet comforting to hold in your hands too,
Embrace your child within when feeling down and alone,
Go to the park, grab a freezy or some crazy ice cream cone!
Let your hair down and go as fast as you can down that slide,
Play with the kids at the park, you are the seeker while they hide.
