Crazy Cat Lady Maybe

Initially, Lady adopted just the gray One for love and fun.
A pal gifted another, a kitten who needed a Mother.
Though spayed, One let Two nurse and her milk did disburse,
said a Vet whose face crunched, bemused and confused.
For One and Two days passed with Lady’s love steadfast.
Cat Three showed in winter’s cold, wanting warmth’s hold.

At first, Three was snubbed by grown One and growing Two.
Eventually their curiosity was peaked by things Three did do,
strange things Cat One and Cat Two could not reason thru.
Three stole garments from the basket of Lady’s dirty clothes,
dragged them into corner places that she carefully chose,
and then she, Cat Three, exposed all to odd licking throes.
Appalled, One and Two would withdraw and prissily pose,
until pride turned trite when Lady raced a laser, red light.

Four showed one Spring day, when Lady saw a gray tail sway
belonging to a striped, cat-baby who had no home or safety.
Lady immediately, eagerly, telephoned her brother, Clark,
and asked if Four would officially make her a Crazy Cat Lady.
He spoke, but she could not quite hear the words from Clark,
not over his ten dogs harmonizing a united, piercing bark.

Hello Cay-Cay, I have read your poem The Crazy Cat Lady. I have enjoyed it. Those were busy kittens. The black and white kitten belongs to my niece, her name is Ronnie. I had so much fun playing with her for an hour, we had so much fun. You can reach me on Soup Mail, I tried to reach you on Soup mail but your name was not there.Hugs Darlene

So creative and thoughtful, CayCay, (and perhaps a bit of personal experience?) ... just adored this charming story! I have cats now, but am just crazy about animals, period. There is an organization for people with skunks here in Maine, (i think almost everywhere, actually), and have a friend who has one, (the stink glands are removed) ... they are very affectionate and SO beautiful and playful! I also adore otters, but they require a lot of exercise specific to their outdoor lifestyle. Love!

How cool to reside in Maine, a state I love visiting and did just 2 summers ago. Yes, each behavior is something a cat I loved did or continues to do. I have known domesticated skunks, wondered about having one, and mini-pigs, too, but alas I am too cat busy, at least for now! Does me good knowing you enjoyed the poem, Greg - thank you. All the best ... CayCay

Please tell me if bunnies get to know people and are affectionate.??? I have never had a bunny and have always wondered what their relationship was like with their people. So glad you enjoyed the 4 cat tail which is based on more than 4 cats I have loved in my life. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

My crazy cat lady is coming soon. Probably by tomorrow night. I need to hurry and do a few more contest challenges that look interesting. My stupid email was putting notifications on my home page of complete messages from hotmail. NO PRIVACY. I was so mad I had to have Geek squad fix it for me. That is why I am behind now . gotta hurry myself off here.

oh my this is one of the BEST I have read. super super cool, Caycay, how you gave each cat its special personality. I thought you would have cat three peeing on the clothes like we discovered a stay we took in was doing and we had to toss her out. The way you ended this was beyond clever!

Meow! Never pursued four, but with us they do purr, and more, Eve. Only partly true, it was a fun write contest prompted, so fun that I forgot to buy cat food the day I wrote it! Watched video on your cat woman and she went from crazy to my hero. Too many homeless pets! Poetry hugs ... CayCay
