Best Latticed Poems
Tender tendrils climb the wall
Up towards the sky
Past the latticed windows tall
Clinging on from high.
Then in springtime buds in red
Pout with lips apart
Inhibitions they all shed
And seduce my heart.

Tired timbers creak and groan;
lonely bones now brittle,
once proud and strong when
bearing the harvest weight.
The wagons and muscular engines
were no burden for my
young and supple limbs.
Spanning the Connecticut,
green to granite -
I miss the melody
of wheels and hooves;
the morning breaths
floating and settling among
my rafters - dripping
in the noon heat.
Carriages where whispers
echo between my latticed
trusses and clandestine truths
and lies were lost in the shadows
where tears of both joy
and pain are forever hidden.
Below, the river perpetually runs
like life and time,
always moving, never waiting,
and testing our will
to carry on...

Personification
My verse has been chosen as Poem of the Month at Sherborne Abbey!
The curious offerings of sacristans
Are given in obscure humility
The symbol of the cupping of the hands
Enshrines the essence of this mystery
The dawn unlocked; the turning of a key
The mystic world behind the little door
The mourning weepers, watching, silently
The quiet foot upon uneven floor
The layered shadowed centuries; the pass
Of long dead worshippers before the throne
Slow shifts of coloured pools of stains of glass
Soft drift of latticed light on pillar stone
The empty candle, thirsting for new oil
Unscrewed and filled, screwed up again and lit
The hidden corners, carved by masons’ toil
In which a wary flickered flame may flit
The covering, uncovering; each fold
Of linen and of altar cloth an art
Within the starch of white, on marble cold
The space to hold His living, beating heart
Here, understated wafers wait in line
For blessing, as an unblessed congregation
Here silver, water, light, and red wine shine
Anticipating sacred consecration
Here eye, and hand, and mind, seek symmetry
In objects placed, in psychic ebbs and flows
Seek that perfection only God can see
In right angle and scented mystic rose
When all are done and gone, her hands will shake
The fragments of His flesh on holy ground
Shed drops upon the earth its thirst to slake
Pour water through the light without a sound
When all are gone, all blessed with wine and bread
There, in the East, where better men have trod
She kneels and presses to the step her head
And, lost in awe, she speaks these words to God
I am that ancient soul you always knew
A part of you, from when time first began
The I am that I am, the that in you
That serves thee, as I will, while still I can
I come to you as Christian, Muslim, Jew
Agnostic, Gnostic, Druid, Angel, Man
The cupping of my hands I give to you
The curious offering of a sacristan

Iambic Pentameter
Once upon a Christmas dreaming
Alphabets of spelling sleep,
Coal and snow plumed shrouded wreaths,
Fantasia minds plunged ever teeming
Distant choral souls redeeming,
Silence weeping, starlight beaming,
Light years bursting solar sheaths.
Whatever lost craved warmth and finding,
Rang the bells and rapped the brass,
Crept a creep of holy stealth,
Midnight chimed, the clock unwinding,
Visual feasts of gospels blinding,
Shadows lifted, ever minding
Love bestowing priceless wealth.
In the veils of crystals falling
Carols gelled with latticed ice,
Knitted pearls of liquid frost,
The songs of Christmas past were calling,
Eerie, wistful caterwauling,
Heaven bent on reinstalling,
Beckoned home whatever lost.
Once upon a Christmas waking
To a world of perfect white,
Love and caring left the grave
And arms wrapped bodies live and shaking,
Purest beauty in the making,
Gifts for giving, gifts for taking,
And all we took was all we gave.

Pieces of sunlight
Indiscriminaely scattered
Amid dappled green
Change places with
Latticed shadows
of emerging silence
Cheerful birds song
Chirp, chirp, chirp
Mingle with
Gently rustling leaves
Morning's musical companions
The flaming muscle car rears
Screaming lurching to a stop
Nose diving, braking hard
Deep throated mechanical bark
Shatters stillness
Belching tail pipes thunder
The assault splits the air
Chopping stillness to pieces
After awhile birds sing
And the trees are still green

Light Verse
How fast time has fled in limitless wingspan
How months and years have merged into eons
Bringing such changes, so awesome and spectacular
I have come swinging open the iron gates
Of the Netherworld where I have been asleep
For over the last four centuries from now
From my prolonged slumber, I am just awake
With my memory intact as in the days
I walked the London streets on my way to Globe theatre
And roamed through the streets of Stratford on Avon
Here, I stand stunned like a Rip wan winkle
Wistfully staring at a world so strange
Wondering how in place of shacks, skyscrapers stand!
How the serene villages into bustling habitats made!
How the frilled frocks into jeans and shirts changed!
Seeing the changes that have come over now
I can only remain perplexed and “tongue tied”,
An expression I used long time back, but still in vogue
Happy I am to revisit the literate of the world
Especially members of my own clan;
My friends of Poetry Soup who wield their pen
To see words are latticed like filmy cobwebs
In diverse poetic forms, on themes and subjects varied
And in rhyming sonnets, my favorite poetic form
Though I stand in a remote and distant tract of time
So happy you still remember me and hail me as an immortal bard
And you name the young lovers- 'Romeo and Juliet'
And write on their amorous romance in honeyed rhyme
You call selfish and cunning people as ‘Iago’
And exclaim on being betrayed- “You too Brutus”
When you are confronted with problems insurmountable
Like Hamlet, you ask the million-dollar question-
“To be or not to be”
My friends, this is my parting words to you
You may live by fame as I do
Through verse, your name you eternalize!
When dead and in solitary vaults you lie
May your verses ring clear in umpteen hearts
And produce echoes that time cannot stifle.

My volatile mind ascends high in lone emptiness,
floating on the cleft of crimson sunburst cloud,
makes a fascinating painting of formless fantasy
on the crumpled blank canvas,
I kept in the museum of memory for so long,
as with the remains of naive passion of childhood
I follow beguiled the imaged trail of butterflies.
I drift on their latticed wings,
flittering on the cascade of whistling wind
to the flamboyance of the fleeting rainbow hew,
that inspires me to discover from behind the mist
the beauty of life the dark clouds of dismay conceal,
and to believe nothing can stop me
to become a bird spreading wings,
soar in the sky suffused with seamless daydream,
taking my entrapped anguished mind
to the halcyon horizon of infinite freedom,
saturated with the aura of timeless bliss,
when I can imagine I can fly.

Autumn spreads latticed spectrum,
trees absorb the color burst,
paint the leaves gold as they wilt,
fall on blazed meadow.

SPRING INTO SUMMER
Some things softly died, it's true,
while others only slept.
Yet little joys of green bent through,
in a promise winter kept.
Bare latticed limbs that trace the sky,
while branches now awaken.
Yet brown the leaf that once did die,
magenta buds have taken.
Waltzed on tip-toe from buttercup,
the butterflies swirl faintly up.
They sail on paths within the skies,
that are not seen by human eyes.
Shadowed fingers stretch past dawn,
and teased at Earth, and hid Orion.
Wind whispered secrets in fern and frond,
and sighed at puffs of dandelion.
Gilded sun nodes warm and new,
know the Solstice chill is through.
Nodes to warm the Equinox,
from cold to hot, in paradox.
Then just as new as Spring will be,
comes burgeoning maturity.
And Springtime must just reminisce,
as Summer blows her sticky kiss.

Idyllic Pleasure (Anacreontic Verse)
Laughter and delight
under a blue sky
on the verdant bank
of a bubbling stream
where luscious food
dulcet and divine
tempts taste buds
teeming with desire
while wine flows freely
like the roaming hands
and ardent kisses
of indulgent youths
lured by spring’s warmth
to an ebullient
effervescent mood
where inhibitions
slither unrestrained
in rumpled heaps
as latticed lacing
yields to deft touch
and the setting sun
shyly reticent
slides behind the hills
in a blushing haze
of purple and red.

On this earth, the sun rises in the east
And sets in the west
This cosmic phenomenon can’t be missed.
On this earth, the oceans are tinged blue
From where their water came
They have no clue.
On this earth, to the sea the rivers flow
At the edge of growing delta
New land is formed low.
On this earth, the winter time is cold
Northern wind spreads the mist
Dark gloomy sky can’t hold.
On this earth, flowers bloom in spring
Colors splash on green meadows
Butterflies flitter on latticed wings.
On this earth, rain forests are vanishing fast
To control global warming
We need to preserve them, we must.
On this earth, life is a unique entity
Evolution in geologic eons has caused
In the blue planet biodiversity.
On this earth, humans are species of distinction
Ravaging the pristine nature
They will surely face extinction.

The blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light,
their silver leaves wave a gentle goodbye,
as delicate petals dream through the night.
Longing tendrils search with all of their might
weaving latticed lace, while in darkened sky,
the blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light.
Shadows darken and the flowers sleep tight,
awaiting the morning with silenced sigh,
as delicate petals dream through the night.
Cold, the wind's breath whispers growing delight,
as the buds thrill in their brushed rainbow dye,
the blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light.
Emotion's warmth grows in this lovely sight
and deep in desire she knows she must try,
as delicate petals dream through the night.
In the glow of her dreams, her heart alight,
she waits a time when we'll watch, she and I,
the blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light
as delicate petals dream through the night.
