Premium Member She Wept In Languished Moan

She wept as they buried her one true love.
Each day thereafter she brought him a rose,
the flower she knew he was fondest of.
Her grief unbearable, beyond repose.
What pain and suffering his death bestows.

Nothing prevented her daily visit.
She didn't want him to feel all alone.
When beside him her face was exquisite.
When weary she would sigh and then lay prone,
weeping for her love in soft languished moan.

There, in restless sleep, flames of love still burned
'til the twilight hour, when she felt a chill
as the gentle warmth of sunlight adjourned.
She heard a dove singing a mourning trill,
begetting heartache's tears to flow and spill.

Your Man

Your man

O' fallen leaf of barren branch
doth charge my heart, my aching heart
with missing you, needing you
On sun dried earth I lay,
grasping at my dreams, so desperate,
find that in this depth
felled by wind of colder days,
my life doth need your touch
so very much it calls to thee,
come to me, cover me
shower me with hope ~
so far you stand
~
I feel as if I am a tiny creature,
an ant on the pavement
with cracks and crevice deep
Foundling for the distance far,
searching of a path to reap
to thy heart, thy arms
O' breath of love I beg thee home,
to lie with you this eve,
this winters eve
of far off arches and grayish glare
~
My travels take me long away
Places I am lost to stay
find this man a’ crying
tears of love for thee, tears of despair
Crying, weeping, hoping, begging,
come to me,
come to me my love, my dream
into my open arms ~ waiting
~
The day might fill the emptiness
with broken branches barren so
dare I say I have the right
to honor love from you,
hold it so within my heart aching
My needs are many,
the truth has shown
for languished features painted hard,
hard against my weathered skin, rough, broken
I scream, my voice still faint of tone,
louder as is nothing less
sorted by the evening breeze
blowing strong against the fence
~
I desire thee to touch me,
kiss me, hold me, take me
The flames of passion brightly burn
igniting but this love I hold
So cherished is your heart
I feel it pounding, pulsing
within mine own chest
My quest is you and only you,
design me, I am yours,
make me as you would,
carve me, bend me, mould me,
sculpt me to be ~
your man

Premium Member MONSTER

Some just can't understand. And they never will. They've never been trapped in the infernal abyss. But I've been there. I've languished in the pit, felt the darkness seep through every pore of my flesh, been denied the light. Depression plays tricks with your mind, makes you believe things that are untrue, blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. I have suffered abandonment by those I loved most, those whose job it was to have my back, to support me when I was descending. It must be you, Depression says. You are the problem. You are diseased, defective, a human disaster. Why not just off yourself? So many ways. A tree limb. A jump. The open sea. A knife, a gun, your life, I've won! But a win for Depression is a loss for me.
Depression is a monster in my head, and monsters are never our friends. So I take up my sword, tell myself I have some good things in my life, that I am loved, even if by only a few, or just one. But the sword feels too heavy and my hands are sweaty. A thrust here, a swing there and it's on the ground. The monster laughs. Its disgusting saliva is all over me. The stench of its breath is more than I can bear. So I say to myself, give in. The fight is too much. I'm too weak to slay this beast. But at my moment of surrender an angel appears at my side, picks up the sword and removes the head of the monster from its torso. It seems so surreal, things are moving in slow motion. I wonder if I am dreaming or seeing a vision. But then the beast slumps over dead at my feet. It is over, for now. The angel smiles, then disappears before my eyes. The lesson becomes clear to me, like a ray of sun forcing its way through the clouds. On my own I could never claim victory over the beast. But with a little help, I won. We won. And for that I am and will always be forever grateful. For I know that if/when another monster should appear, I am not alone. I suppose I never really was.

Premium Member Forbidden Fruit

Unrequited love is the
forbidden fruit of the heart.
And if you lust for its taste,
it will tear your heart apart.

A love that can never be;
drains dreams of all their magic.
And like a moth to a flame,
results are often tragic.

Behind a facade of smiles,
you try to hold back the tears.
Yet hope is mired in despair;
where it has languished for years.

Loneliness results in a
deluge of sad emotions.
And it feels as though you've cried
enough tears to fill oceans.

You suckle reality
on the bosom of the night.
For fantasies morph into
shackles at dawn's breaking light.

Sequestered in make-believe;
love has brought you to your knees.
But within dreams, you get to
be with whomever you please.

Premium Member To the Fallen of Covid 19

To all the fallen of Covid 19
whose deaths were unrecorded and unseen
To those who languished in intensive care
where Fear unmasked itself to mock each prayer

To mothers shedding tears from dawn till night
while clutching keepsakes of their children tight
To fathers who must raise their kids alone
who stoic in their grief, suppress each groan

To nurses, doctors, first responders, all
who risked their lives in answering the call
to face the mayhem, doing what it takes
Yet every day the virus raised the stakes

To those deprived of saying their goodbyes
who could not wipe the tears from closing eyes
To those who stood alone beside a grave
who mourned the youth that doctors could not save

To you now isolated in your house
who care for stricken child or unwell spouse
To you whose nightmares will not let you sleep
who plead of God your loved ones' souls to keep

What comfort can I give you who remain
when in the news there's talk of a new strain?
Just this that Covid 19 will not win
To let it crush our souls would be as sin

One day we're sure to leave the "hiding place",
and not to face our deaths, but live in grace
Though normalcy may not be like before,
I know that there are blessings still in store

Our faith and dreams remain pandemic free...
These Covid cannot steal from you or me
Humanity has learned what things are dear
We found new ways to keep our loved ones near

Premium Member Once I Had

It's a long time ago
that I flew high and thought
that’s like a carrion crow
flying over a deserted plateau
could bring its prey so much woe.

Once I had a rose, a ruby rose,
someone stole it; my death throes.
It vanished like yesterday's snow.

I saw it as a television show
my heart that was so much aglow,
knew you decided to let it go,
like a third-rate picture show.

I wended my way through shadows,
sometimes was lost in meadows
or languished beneath the shady willows.

It was then too late for me.
I lay beneath the ugly Judas tree,
wondering how could he
have stolen my love from me.
But does he kiss you passionately?
as I, a bird of prey, did?

Alliteration For the Planet

Wonderful wonders woven within wild.
Titillates theatrical tender thoughts
Consistently creation, contrives conservation concerns.
Ecology evolves equations, entitling entities essence.
Empowering equality, enlarges existence.
Life lovingly leases Longevity.
Biodiversity braces, blatant brutal balding.
Deforestation, destruction devoid due definition.
People physically, plundering planet.
Prevalently procuring, products proscribed
Pilfering practices producing poisonous pollutants.
Greenhouse gases generated, generously grievous.
Temperate temperature’s tempers tumultuous.
Creating Climate changes, causing catastrophes.
Planet purges peril predominately.
Preached, placid platitudes, politicians podiums paced.
loved lives logged listed lost.
Lacuna languished, lessons least learnt.
Losing Life lingers, listing leeward lazily.

Premium Member Swan Lake

Satin shoes, for years,
I wore upon my feet;
Bound around my
Ankles with
Expectations
I could never meet,
On bloodied toes
That languished
In a pirouette
Of self-defeat;
Wearing slippers
That tried in vain
To polonaise
Your dreams.

Author’s note: In the story of Swan Lake, it is told
that the lake was formed from tears.

Definition of ballet terms:

Pirouette: whirl or spin - a complete turn of the body on one foot,
                 on point or demy Pointe.

Polonaise: Processional dance in 3/4 time with which the court ballets
of the seventeenth century were opened and can be seen

After You

I saw a light from across the field
On a night the sky shed tears of rain.
I had hoped the dark would help to shield
My heart from sorrow it need not feign.
To the burden of truth I must yield
And with truth the burden I might explain.

The light shone on, then it was put out –
It’s glow prematurely extinguished.
Gloom filled the void and then cast about,
It engaged me and I was anguished.
Morning found my spirit easy to flout,
And all that morning I so languished.

Premium Member Woods In Shadowed Flight

I
knew
your woods
through every
quiver of bonfires...
although our music pealed a wind
flamed evensongs quickly languished,
cleaving my breaths into dry twigs; and hushing a faceless moon
                                                                 with your shadow-dance flight.

The Huntress

A pursuer at an precocious age,
Instantly able to set the stage.
Unaware of the glare from a piercing stare,
Calculated thoughts and moments planned; the prey would be snared.

Indulging in oratory flights of beautiful language,
Enticed by a venomous tongue the prey languished.
Striking the first note of genuine eloquence,
The Huntress pillaged without rendering an element of forbearance.

The impending execution of the venom ignited an explosion,
That there was an instant expulsion.
From the impending death,
The prey took a long deep breath.

The craving of the Huntress had grown,
The prey subsided with a shuddering moan.
Towered by the Huntress’s shadowing eclipse,
Impetuous feeling the softness of her kiss.

Weeds of Regret

Forever lost deep in a lonely heart,
stands a forgotten palace hidden from sight.
Where lived a simple scribe who practiced his art
and languished in the flames of candle light.

While a fair princess peacefully slept,
upon her pillow by a warm crackling fire.
She was surrounded by the lovely roses she kept,
pressed between the written words of a secret admirer.

She would often sit in the evening air,
overlooking the garden from above.
Into the eyes of the moon she would stare,
dreaming of the face of an unknown love.

The young scribe dared not reveal himself,
being a plain looking man with meager means.
Having to leave his heart upon a shelf,
only to hold her in his arms in a dream.

Then one bitter night a cold wind blew
and took the fair princess away.
When her letters were found they all sadly knew,
the young maiden died with a broken heart that day.

The young scribe never wrote another word,
he tended her garden the rest of his days.
His face never seen, his voice never heard,
a life lived in a dream never to stray.

Time has moved on, but the moon still remains.
Looking from his lofty throne he will never forget.
This crumbling castle with its garden of pain,
neglected and choked by the weeds of regret.

An Inner Push

The other day I did some chores
That I’d been putting off.
It made me feel so good
But hear me out before you scoff.

They weren’t monumental things –
They’d languished on my list;
Yet every time I'd thought of them,
My brain had them dismissed.

So finally, I ordered lenses
For my months-old frames.
I had some papers notarized
For certain health care claims.

I bought a bunch of greeting cards
For birthdays coming soon.
I splurged and got some brand-new clothes;
The time was opportune.

I stopped in at the drug store
And the market, not exciting;
But then I found a shady bench
To work on some new writing.

Sometimes it takes an inner push
To get the basics done.
It’s easier to tackle more
As long as you’ve begun.

Premium Member Tell Me Why

TELL ME WHY
If what I've done is love too much
too deep, and far too strong,
and languished in loves bitter touch
that stays with me too long
what hope have I to end in me
this love, to let it die?
When I know it will always be
but can not tell you why.
To hide it or to let it show
decisions of the heart,
when you've already seen and know
and did right from the start.
If all I've had is too much pain
whenever you are near
and let it show time and again
love that won't disappear
what hope have I of ending it?
Does real love ever die?
And so I let it show a bit
but cannot tell you why.
If all I've done is think on you
each minute of each day
and write your name a time or two
what hope is that some way
this love will ever cease to be
just stop? Just simply die?
This love that life has given me
but did not tell me why.

Premium Member The Meaning of Easter

Chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs,
Fluffy chicks and lambs at play.
The spring of the year is a beautiful time,
And we celebrate as the time draws nigh,

To remember the reason for all our good cheer;
For now is the time The Resurrection draws near.
We celebrate Jesus who conquered the foe,
Of Sin and Death and delivered our souls,

Up from the abyss where we languished in wait,
Beneath the burden of unspeakable hate.
He marched into Hell and in triumph brought out,
All who are His and they came with a shout;

Victory is ours because Jesus Lives.
He's salvaged our souls and He's cleansed and forgives,
All who will come to Him, on us He bestows,
A robe of His Righteousness as it was foretold.

We honor The Sacrifice made by Father and Son,
And we honor the love that redeems us as one.
We celebrate the victory won over our foe.
We celebrate Jesus, our Conquering Hero.
