Premium Member Bad Karaoke - Grook

Encouraged by the masses
is mediocrity,
like when someone at a bar
sings bad karaoke.
As they belt out notes off key,
we might give guffaws.
Drunken with good will, though,
we offer up applause.

Ya got that right...we're all here tonight...
to party hearty ol' lordy...don't ya know...
It's karaoke night...ya got that right....
So find a good ol' seat and enjoy the show!

Everything's tight...yea, out a sight!

And we just might...sing and dance away the night..
Yea! we're here to let the good times roll!

So find a good ol' seat and enjoy the show...
It's karaoke night..yea..ya got that right...
So party hearty ol' lordy..don't ya know!

Yea, everything's tight...out a sight!
Ya got that right...don't ya know..
and we just might..sing and dance all night..
Ya got that right...don't ya know!

Ya got that right...the mood is tight...
It's karaoke night....and so...
For your hearts delight..sing and dance away the night...
Come on and let the good times roll!!!

Karaoke

I'm going to karaoke
Purple people eater will be my song choice
and I'm determined to do it
In my best Alvin and the chipmunks voice.
It might not win the competition
but it will be a lot of fun
Isn't that the point of competitions
When we enter one ?
My mates think I'm the double
Of a very young Barry Gibb
They want me to sing something by the Bee Gee's
but for me that would be a fib.
I'm not there to do impressions
However brilliant they may be
I just have to do my very best
and be happy being me.
So i'll go along tonight
With my helium balloon
That will give the voice
To help me sing my tune.
Then I'll congratulate the winner
but if it is a chap
He'd better get the ale in
Or he's going to get a slap.

Premium Member Soul of a Rock Star, Life of a Karaoke Singer

Putting his whole heart into it
Belting out the chorus so loud
Needing a prompter for the lyrics
No one listening in the crowd.

Signing up to sing again
Waiting for his next go
Playing the air guitar
Putting on a show.

The groupies are in his mind
He cannot carry a note
Everyone has left the bar
He needs lozenges for his throat.

He’ll come back again on Tuesday night
To make love to the microphone
Knowing women he will woo
Yet going home alone.

He practices in the shower
He’s gonna make it big he knows
He’s failed three times in auditions
For the American Idol show.

He knows every bar that has a machine
And which nights they plug it in
A regular the bartenders know
Trying not to laugh at him.

No one has the heart to tell him
That he’s wasting his time
I guess living in your own dream
Isn’t really a crime.

So sing it would-be rock and roll boy
Pretend that you’re a star
There will always be a place for you
In the local Karaoke bar.

A singer whose name’s Carrie Oakey
Was hoarse, sounding terribly croaky
Carrie burst into tears
When folks covered their ears
She’s thankful her gig was just low key

Had a little too much leaded eggnog at Target's Christmas party,
sung karaoke with hardy Bullseye, he was a little smarty.

After the Last Song

I look to the sky
a dark friendly sky

music stilled spotlights fade
I look for stars in the sky

friends offer last hugs
under a cover of clear sky

darkness opens its arms
I embrace a welcoming sky

promises of many tomorrows
whisper an endless sky

Karaoke

People singing, taking chances.
Palms sweating, hearts thumping.
Will I be good or will I bomb?
Most don't care, full of booze.
Food and good friends all around
Country, jazz and rock.
All sounds coming out tonight.
take a chance.
Be a star. Even for a one moment.
Shaking once it is over, anticipating the next time.
therapy for some, release for others.
Fears, desperation and heartbreak seem to all disappear.
Fading in a flow of emotions too long contained.
Sweet, sweet freedom.
Taking you back in time to days of yore.
Or helping you back to the present.
May the music never stop in the heart of us all.

Karaoke Night

There's a place I(used to)go
When I was feeling low.
Weekly(closed due to covid) singing show.
Karaoke Night.
It(was) a lively place,
Smiles on every face.
Young,old,every race.
Karaoke Night.

Guys gals(would) step up to the microphone.
Sing their favorite songs for you and me.
Some were decent. Some would make you groan.
There were different levels of quality.

DO RE MI FA SO LA TI DO

DJ called my name.
I was in the game.
3 minutes of fame.
Karaoke Night.

Singing set me free.
Vocal fantasy.
Superstar was me!
Karaoke Night.

DO TI LA SO FA MI RE DO

I was feeling fine.
Drank some beer and wine.
I had a great time.
Karaoke Night.

Made alot of friends.
Stayed until the end.
I'll go back again(some day hopefully and if they don't go out of business)
KARAOKE NIGHT!!

After Karaoke

music lingers
streetlights
shine stars
man and woman
sleeping in shadows
the library’s closed
an intimate voice
on the radio
as I drive home
midnight
the spell is cast
midnight
as I drive home
on the radio
an intimate voice
the library’s closed
sleeping in shadows
man and woman
shine stars
streetlights
music lingers

My neighbor Mike loves karaoke
Who sings off-tune a Hokey Pokey;

          Grinds he with delight
          But it's twelve of night...

Irked, my alarm whips that voice croaky.
