Premium Member The Storm

I BUTTON THE SHUTTERS HIGH AND LOW,
AS HIGH STRONG WINDS BEGIN TO BLOW.
A NIGHT OF TERROR BEFORE MY EYES,
AS DARK GRAY CLOUDS HAVE FILLED THE SKIES

I MAKE READY THE FIREPLACE TO PROVIDE SOME HEAT.
TO WARM THE HOUSE AND MY FEET.
I TAKE TO MY CHAIR WITH AN UNCORKED BRANDY.
MY RAINCOAT AND BOOTS STAND BY HANDY.

LIGHTNING STRIKES AS THE CLOCK STRIKES TEN.
A NIGHT OF HORROR HAS YET TO END.
I READ MY NOVEL TO PASS THE NIGHT.
THIS STORM SHOULD SUBSIDE BY MORNING LIGHT.

POURING RAIN KNOCKS AT THE DOOR.
A DRAFT CREEPS IN AROUND THE FLOOR.
FULL FIERCE WINDS NOW PREVAIL
AND BRING WITH THEM BALLS OF HAIL.

SWIRLING WINDS RIP THE SHUTTER FREE.
A DEADLY STORM IN PURSUIT OF ME.
THUNDEROUS ROARS COME AND GO.
A FULL MOON LIT WITH A STRANGE DARK GLOW.

HOWLING WINDS RATTLE THE GLASS.
ICE COLD RAINS WATER THE GRASS.
AT 4 AM I POUR A BRANDY.
I GRAB MY FLASHLIGHT I KEEP HANDY.

I CHECK THE HOUSE FOR SUDDEN LEAKS.
THIS WICKED STORM HAS REACHED IT'S PEAK.
OUTSIDE THE WINDOW A NICE SURPRISE.
ON THE HORIZON A NEW SUNRISE.

LIGHTS ARE OUT, THROUGHOUT THE TOWN.
CLEARING SKIES SEEM INBOUND.
THIS WICKED STORM LOOKS TO PASS.
BUT NOT BEFORE LEAVING A TREE ON MY GRASS.

ONE MORE BRANDY I SHALL POUR.
BEFORE I OPEN MY FRONT DOOR.
NOW THAT THE STORM HAS GONE AWAY.
I'LL ASSESS THE DAMAGE THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

Premium Member Rainbow Blind

Whenever my emotions are gathered pain side
down, a smattering of silent, shallow, cobweb shadows
wear me as woe’s weighty gown atop clouds blind
to rainbows where naught is wrought but gloom’s
sound, tempo fraught, inbound.

Floating scents
of blossoms
Walking in the ashes
Of Derek's heaven
Inbound upon vision
Falling crystal teardrops
Summer dew
On the ground

Beautiful gardens surround
Explosive in nature's beauty
Blossoms of all shades
Bouquet the very earth
In the sweet
beautiful aroma

In the scent
a beautiful fragrance
Entering the house
Blue awakens senses
Opening vision

Falling to it flattery
Famous artists everywhere
In its twentieth
century grandeur
A harvest
of art

Entering a peacock
held on my vision
My mark on time
I saw a Picasso
Holding the kitchen
In a brightened air

Renoir held the upstairs
In a setting
burning warm
A pretty maiden
In pose

Speaking volumes
inside of me
Snake skin slipperS
Upon the beds ground
In the wardrobe
a rustic jacket
Christian Dior

Upon the bed
Lay sweetheart pillows
A lady's promise
On her fisherman's
Safe return

Each window
A different picture
Picturesque beautiful
Different views
Of the grounds

Walking towards the lake
Birds singing
In its gentle breeze
Nature whispers
Rustling
in the trees

Leaves one's soul
Whistling in the leaves
In a silent stare
Across the water
Inbound sound
A fish plops

Spiraling ripples
on the surface
Breaking reflections
A gentle breeze
Caresses the brow

Aroma flares
Within the nostrils
Trees standing
Their ground
Centuries looking over
Heavenly
standing tall
Amongst the blossoms

The sun
Will forever smile
In moonlight
Silver shadows
casting the soul
In all its beauty

In the colours
of a butterfly
Kissing heaven
Upon its air
Blowing
a butterfly kiss

Fluttering beautiful
Floating on
Glebe's breeze
Falling around
Glebe house

Premium Member Books Unread

Why is the middle where I put a book down?
My anticipation dies at that half-read interlude.
I lack the discipline that keeps me inbound.
A famous author's endings should be praised, and not eschewed.

Major Crash

Early morning on the road,
Babysitting duties call.
Traffic outbound's mostly light,
Heading to the suburbs' sprawl.

Suddenly, it all slows down;
On the GPS, a flash -
Point three miles up ahead,
There has been a major crash.

At a standstill, we are trapped;
Nothing really we can do.
Even with the updates, we are
Stuck in lane without a clue.

Not a siren to be heard.
Not a horn, impatient, honks.
Every driver is resigned
To extra minutes in the Bronx.

Inbound cars are flying by
Yet we suckers sit and sit,
Trying hard to take a breath
And, hopefully, avoid a snit.

All in the surrounding cars
This morning share an equal fate -
Even though we left on time,
Each of us will show up late.

New Paths

A new path is what we seek.
The surroundings are taking a peek,
Going through, very meek,
Seeing no bleaks,
Getting piqued,
While hearing creaks,
In the new paths that we seek...

The new path is what is found,
Going through forests bound,
Going through the path inbound,
With soothing and raging water sounds.
Walking confound,
Silence profounded,
Sight astounded,
Passed through burial grounds...

Seeking for another way around,
Noises resound,
Spirits surround,
The paths newfounded,
Our instincts compounded,
Followed by the hounds,
Echoes in ultrasounds,
Passed through mysterious breeding grounds...

Going to stamping grounds,
Trying to get off this ground,
With those burial mounds,
Death moving the wheels around,
Silhouettes running aground,
Trying to leave safe and sound,
Passing through some hunting grounds...

Seeking for common grounds,
The mistaken path redounded,
Regretful screams abound.
Plans propounded,
Though some are fouled,
Throughout the paths that were found...

However, most are lost and wounded,
Most tended to walk out,
Some minds and hearts full of doubts.
Hearing salvation shouts,
From all these new paths walked and found...

Premium Member Days of Spring

The starkness of winter is left behind
In it's wake comes inbound spring
 every step with joyful delight
She dressed herself with greenery
Putting on her finest dress
As her beauty is heightened the
Flowers poke their heads
 laughing, dancing with delight
Colors of floral explosion appear
as her sweet scented perfume fills the air.
Birds are returning to her warmth
as she dances with the wind
The winter blues have begun to lift
Spring waltzes in on the incoming breeze.

What I Called Life

Naked copulation embedded this one,
Before one imagined or everyone,
When the night was mostly savaged
And the light was damaged bandaged.

Blessed where the ones given a son,
Under a circular, an heir on the run
A sun that insist to be the only to shine
Transcended moves, in their eyes he always was in line.

Of everything, in anything, blood gun
Penetrated melanin, anger that weighs a ton
Ravaged a girl’s heart from denied love
Her blood covered her mind with a glove.

Energy exerted on her could no more stun
A winding period of torture, a moment for fun
A hiding when demur to a marital agreement
Denied knowledge, freedom of expression and all for her that was meant.

Sunk in thoughts, caged panther, her time held for someone
Caged panther, I became, with a slow motion that took a spun
I escaped the last days of inbound hostage, mind muscled and heart footed
My own family had a vision of my success, from the start, booted.

Cryptic contours charade,
Rousing riverfront raid;
Young yonder years yielding,
Prosperous peace prancing;
Taunting tale telling trite,
Icon imprints invite,
Clever casting charm cites...

Minds merge mingling motives,
Embalm emergent edge;
Rising riches restive,
Lofty lion-maned ledge;
Instruct inbound inklings,
Outline obvious oozing,
Niche nice new nurturing...

Fancy fish-tail flings flair,
Age aligns apt affairs;
Sense survival seeking,
Hope's hasty hurts hurling;
Intent invents impasse,
Observe optimum ooze;
Now nimble nascent noose,
Salty sea spray surpass...

Sculpt seaward sea-bubble:
Taut tensile tendency,
Obscure odd odyssey,
Raise roomy revelry;
Years yield yarns you yodel...

See sensuous story stay,
Charm cleverly cheers clay;
Raise rousing ripe refrains,
Indulge instincts ingrained;
Prime plot puzzling playground,
Trailblazer touching town...

Move myopic mindset,
Yesterday yielding yet;
Tease trouble's trying threats,
Hoist happy hustling hat...

Premium Member Thump Thump Thump

Thump, thump, thump,
I can hear the choppers
They are inbound
Med Evac
Another day in the bush
Another man down
I throw out a flare
It’s a hot LZ
Small arms fire
From a sniper
In a tree

Sitting in front of the TV
I watch the war
In full HD
I can see the fear
The talking heads
Say we are losing the war
The minds and souls
Are not on our side
We are the invaders
Sent to enforce democracy
Not necessarily to practice it

Thump, thump, thump,
The mortar rounds closing in
Wish I were anywhere but here
Skipper looks worried
As the radio squawks
Unfriendlies are inside the wire
Lock and load
It’s going to be a long night
I wish those talking heads
Were here to fight
Hope I’m still here
At first light

I put on my slippers
And head off to bed
Not knowing the truth
But feeling so dead
Leeches and communist
Are sucking me dry
I wish Ho Chi Minh
Had never been born
Stalin and Hitler
Just bad dreams
From the blue
I sleep in a fog
Next to my dog
Outside my window
There’s a sound
In the fog

Thump, thump, thump, thump …

The James River

The James River
I sailed the James before there were bridges
Hunted her game along her tall ridges
I sat with the Powhatan chief for a smoke
With no common words, neither one spoke
But he understood we were there to stay
And nothing he’d do could drive us away
We planted our crops - sent some home on our ships
And the colony grew with more inbound trips
Plantations soon grew and additional ports
People elected - new laws and courts
Tobacco and produce soon filled up the boats
As down the James River Virginia now floats
But then came the rails in a steam driven charge
Replacing the sails or the drift along barge
So the thinking was changed on the James River flow
To a place to relax and to take things more slow
Kayak, canoeing, fishing and hiking
And shooting the rapids were more to their liking
Parks were established that still draw a crowd
And of the James River, it’s people are proud

Beautiful Bounteous Blessings

"Today don't beg, don't ask, just thank God in silence for all the blessings in your life. Each morning brings a hidden blessing; a blessing which is unique to that day. You deserve all the good things that happen to you."

~ Paulo Coelho

Auspicious azure atoll with augmented aurora
Bounteous bells bringing in buoyant breeze
Chiming cornucopia of coloured circles
Drawing drapes of dulcet dreams in delight
Emanating effervescence of enchanting echoes
Frivolously flying fervent fruits of father's faith
Gratitude garnered graciously in gaiety golden gospels
Humming harmonious hopes of humane harbinger
Iridescent immaculate ink of inbound ideologies
Jubilant jar of judicious joy in juggles
Kernels of kindness kindred in kaleidoscope
Luminescent leaves with lustre of love language
Mother's memoirs of mesmerizing morning mellow
Nurturing nascent nights with neon nuzzles
Opulent overwhelming opportunities of optimism
Pinnacles of permeating pleasure peeking in panacea
Quintessential quilt of quietude quenching quests
Radiant realms of rapport reviving a rhapsody
Soft silver slumber sparkling in sanguine serendipity
Translucent threads of tenacious tangible treasures
Unearthed utopia upholding ushered upbeats of urges
Veracious variance vibrating valiantly in vicinity
Wonderful white wisps of warm whispering waves
Xenon xing from xenial xylophones of xander xenia
Yellow yarns of yonder yesterdays yielding youthfulness
Zooming with zillion zestful zigzags to zealous zenith

Jacob's Gauntlet

Crawling the serrated knife’s edge
Oh, how the straight path to dreams winds
Driving the lender’s car towards mirages retreating
Tires still dry, one interview to the next
Eaten a lot of oysters, no pearl yet
Another day with the serial assailant of obligations

Home, the abyss of borrowed things,
                                                      mostly time
Engulfing both horizons as door slams
Broad grin of his baby, another inbound arrow
Wife’s taut coral red kiss, encouraging smile,
Bloodshot eyes don’t wrinkle
For each tiny swollen vein another lashing

Tony Robbins quote
on the whiteboard by the fridge
Smudged and flaking
A woman is, a man becomes, it’s been said
Not yet, snarls the humming silence
In the merciless arena, doubt a costly luxury

Maybe I’ll need a mortgage on that, too

He peers down the vortex to see his inky event horizon
Beguiling, giddy horror in depths,

How much is my policy?
No, too easy.

No retreat, just so much harder

If only I’d known what I still don’t know yet
Then I wouldn’t be here

The Truth

I spoke the truth and ignorance and arrogance befell upon me
I spoke the truth and i lost my parents , brothers and sisters
I spoke the truth and i became a loner , living in a dark melancholy
The truth for all i care is not for the weak , not for the dead in spirit
The truth for all i care is not for perverts , infidels and adulterers
The truth for all i care is what some , like me and you are made of
I am the truth and the truth is me , it is said the truth shall set you free
No i say the truth shall grant you enemies , inbound the family and everywhere
The truth is a lonely village , the truth is a forced trip to a mental institution
The truth is for the strong , strong emotionally and not physically
The truth is for the strong , strong intuitively and not materially
Strong spiritually and not monetarily ,
O truth you are my rock
O truth you are my boulder
O truth you are my mountain
When they come for me
You melt in front of their eyes
Truth dearest truth ,you never change
Truth yesterday ,
Truth today
Truth tomorrow
Truth forever
I'd rather be alone than be without truth
The truth my life , truth you contain my anger
One day the truth shall set me free
As i truthfully wait in peace...for the truth to capture the day
For all to truthfully live in freedom
