Premium Member Where Beauty Lies

I saw a dragon flying overhead
In fascination watched him flap his wings
Then suddenly, he was a thoroughbred
Whose smokey breath came out in giant rings

How gracefully clouds play as they change shape
At times it seems they silently collide
Lost in imagination, I escape
Down in the turn we dove to the inside

Just for one second we were in the lead
Time stopped as we raced t'ward the finish line
But then that cloud changed to a centipede
Out for a sunny stroll in summertime

The clouds are filled with fun and mystery
Their beauty lies within simplicity

Premium Member The Great British Pancake Day Toss Off - Warning Contains Innuendo

Today it’s Pancake Day and there’s to be a pancake race
Entrants are on the starting line with a smile upon their face

Old Ted ‘s ready with his frying pan, he is a fat old josser
but when it comes to pancakes, Ted’s an expert tosser

The gun goes BANG and off they go, Ted’s busy tossing away
busty Bertha's in the lead, if she wins there’ll be hell to pay!

Ted’s won the race the last five years, he tosses night and day
the trophy’s been on his top shelf, he hopes that’s where it’ll stay

Bertha stumbles, her pancake drops and she begins to cry
Ted sneakily stamps on her pancake; he’s such a crafty guy

The finishing line is in sight, there’s about fifty yards to go
Ted frantically tosses his pancake; his wrist goes fast not slow

Bill makes a sterling effort and comes at Ted from behind
they toss their pans in unison; Bill's got winning on his in mind

Ted lunges at the white tape, but the result’s declared a draw
Bill suggests they have a ‘toss off’ - there’s not been a draw before

Both men take a breather, awaiting a fresh pancake to toss
if either of them drops their pancake it will be a great loss

Both men stand on the finish line and flip and toss like mad
neither of them will concede, whoever loses will be quite sad

A crowd gathers, all eager to know who’ll be crowned the winner
suddenly a seagull swoops and grabs Ted’s pancake for its dinner

Ted starts to shout and stamps his feet when it’s announced Bill's won
he takes it all too seriously, but Bill declared the toss off was such fun!

Mario Kart

I was playing my Nintendo
controller in my hand
I guess I dozed off
to Mario Kart land

It was Donkey Kong Stadium
I was in the lead
no one could catch me
as I reached maximum speed

Approaching the finish line
I heard a thundering squreech
slamming into the back of me
was my opponent peach

Everything went dark
and when I opened my eyes
I had fallen off my bed
only a dream to my surprise.

In England Shrove Tuesday is also known as pancake day and pancake races are held all over the UK.

Need For Speed

I got a Need For Speed
I get behind the wheel and take the lead
When you see me in your rear view mirror you better make room for me
I always come in first never in last cause my car to fast
I never run out of gas
My ride is first class a McLaren F1 it goes too fast like a shot from a gun
When the race starts you think your are in the lead
But I'm so far ahead of you the race is already over for me.
I'll see you at the starting line and take you out again because when you got a Need For Speed the race never ends.

Ka, the Lost Canadian Goose

for my gentle handsome son, Keith Andrew-

The young Canadian goose was lost in flight,
Not knowing which way to turn-
Now he depended on instinct and sight,
And what he had already learned-

The clouds engulfed all his air space,
And for the skein his heart did yearn-
They were migrating north in springtime,
Towards their nesting grounds to return-

He was sure he could navigate the course,
But he really needed to see-
For now it was against time that he raced,
Hoping that soon with them all he would be-

He flew at an altitude of 3,000 feet,
the migration height that geese fly-
’but then remembered on some occasions,
they’d go up 27,000 feet in the sky!

He tried to get his bearings,
by estimating their rate of speed-
Canadian Geese cover 1,500 miles a day,
He’d have to fly faster to succeed-

KA, with courage geared up,
and charged right through the distant clouds-
He spotted black feathered necks and feet,
and heard lots honking that was loud-

His father was in the lead,
of the “V” formation that geese fly-
His mother was right behind,
Asking, “Where did he go and why?”

The young Canadian goose remained in back,
Until all of them touched the ground-
Mother emerged from the gaggle with glee,
Happy her son was found-

Mom and father were together for life-
In the geese world that’s how it goes-
Now it was KA’s time to find a mate,
He made it just in time to propose!

A Series of Limericks

We have Poet Destroyer in the lead
She will take out your heart and make it bleed
She has a big smile
Drives all the boys wild
She is the poet we all do need

There is a tipsy man named Arthur
Who tried to get all the girls to purr
He drew up his sword
When he gets too bored
To show the girls his wordly allure

Tim is the romantic one we seek
He tells of how life makes him weak
He is kind and sweet
Charming and real neat
The ladies all listen when he'll speak

There was a young dirty ****
Who had small boobs and no butt
She walked like a boy
Which gave her no joy
and was teased that she was a mutt

A beautiful lady with brown eyes
Had bosoms pointing up to the skies
She wiggled her waist
showing off a taste
of what was between her silky thighs

A dirty old man lived down the block
Every night he walked at eight o' clock
Whistled at ladies
He spoke real shady
In his pocket he carried his rock

A young girl who lived in the woods
Played with all the cops and the hoods
Big long guns they all had
Making the young girl glad
She let them all play with her goods

Little Timmy could do no wrong
With the girls he would sing a song
He was a smart lad
Making the girls glad
When he played pocket ping pong

Hooting And A Chit, Chit, Chatter

Monkeys jumping from limb to limb
In the trees above
Leaves rattle as the limbs are
Bounced and pounced
While back on their route
A two-day trip to the family tree

“Ouch!” Muse said
With a splinter in his finger
All the monkeys stop to get a peek
One starts scratching another helps
They all start picking and eating
Fleas off each other’s back

Monkeys jumping from limb to limb
In the trees above
Leaves rattle as the limbs are
Bounced and pounced
While back on their route
A one-day trip to the family tree

“Oops! “ Muse said
Couldn’t quite reach the limb he flinched and fell to the ground
Like a coconut falling onto dry brittle leaves below
With a goose egg bump on the top of his head,
He opened his eyes to discover the sight of another
Monkey see, monkey do

Monkeys jumping from limb to limb
In the trees above
Leaves rattle as the limbs are
Bounced and pounced
While back on their route
To the family tree

Hooting and a chit, chit, chatter
They all came to a screeching halt
A river stands in their way

“Oh my, what are we to do?” One said

They all gathered by the bank
Intertwining their tails and legs with
Stretched out arms, making a monkey chain
With the best swimmer in the lead

Muse safely got them across
To the other side
Where their family tree resides

Hooting and a chit, chit, chatter
With the rest of the monkeys
Who were waiting to greet their guests
That were on a quest

Grandsons

We have dear Grandsons one, two, three,
Now Dominic's off to the Learning Academy.
Luke's in the lead, with 3 years at Swansea U,
Scott's completed his course in Music too.
So Dominic has joined the happy band at last,
His days as a babe have officially passed.
Into his brand new uniform just to show,
He's a big lad and off to school you know.
We have watched him as he played with toys,
He has learning abilities to bring his Mum joy.
All three are getting education for future years
We hope that all three will surpass their peers.
To get themselves set in their chosen careers.
We pray for our Grandsons, one, two, three,
That they obtain honors that people will see,
They're good enough to employ in the industry.
In the years to come may they all stand tall,
Way to Go Guys. Well Done, We Love you All.

Bear and the Birds

Bear and the Birds

Vernal equinox comes shining.
Hungry wolves in forest whining.
Mighty bear awakens growling,
time to go on sky’s great prowling.

Chickadee feels night-time falling,
“feed me food” from stomach calling.
Mother bear up sky comes climbing,
fatty flesh with perfect timing.

Sky-bear is big and bird is small
so chickadee puts out a call,
“if all want food then all must hunt.
I’ll bring my pot, who goes in front?”

Cute moosebird cries, “I choose the rear –
to sweep the mess – it’s not from fear.
Cock robin shouts, “I’m in the lead!
My trusty bow will do the deed.”

“I’ll peck her juicy nose and eye
and you can have a meaty thigh,”
cries chickadee, “a-tee-hee-hee,
and moosebird gets a bony knee.”

All summer long they stalk their prey
who hides behind the sun by day
but when the lid goes on at night
they see her there by lunar light.

“It’s Autumn now, let’s slay the beast
then hide our meat for winter feast.”
But bear stands high to make a fight
with paws that strike and teeth that bite.

Moosebird and chickadee fly low
for fear the beast will land a blow
but robin, with a steady eye,
takes aim and lets an arrow fly.

Sharp barb rips into bear’s great chest.
Her spurting blood stains robin’s breast
then covers maple trees in red.
Leaves fall like tears as bear is bled.

The winter fat seeps from her bones
as cold as death as hard as stones
and all the land is covered white
and plunged into a winter’s night.

Her frame still floats in northern sky
but hush belovèd do not cry,
her spirit fled back to the den
so in the spring she’ll rise again.

Then by the light of crescent moon
like starry handle of a spoon
three birds will follow after bear
as close as any hunter dare.

The Legions of Rome

The legion march quickly north,
armed with glaudius , pila, and, scutum.
Prefect Claudius Flavius was in command of the First Cohort.
Vanguard in the lead, flankers to the sides, rear guard looking behind.
They marched steady and strong under a blazing hot sun.
Each man weighed down with 60 pounds of armor, weapons, shield and rations.

They did not falter,
and they did not stop for water.
Such is the discipline of the legions of Rome.

At the end of the day they made their camp.
That night the equites legionis scouts found the enemy.
 and the battle was planned.
The legion was up before dawn and prepared for battle.
The First Cohort, four hundred eighty men in all, marched to the battle site ahead of the others, and formed four maniples.
When the rest of the legion was formed,
Flavius commanded the First to move forward toward the screaming enemy.

They did not falter,
and they marched in good order.
Such is the discipline of the legions of Rome.

At the command of, " Iacere pila". they hurled their spears at the enemy shields.
At the command of, " Contendire vesta sponte" they drew their glaudii and engaged,
attacking the left flank of the enemy formation.
Armor and spears, swords and shields met in a horrible clash.
The centurii and optio shouted orders above the blare of the bugles.
Pilae were hurled.
Scuta banged against scuta.
soliders pushed, shoved, yelled and cursed.
Glaudii thrust forward in unrelenting, grim determination.

They did not falter,
and they gave no quarter.
Such is the discipline of the legions of Rome.

In the end the enemy line unraveled, and those who were left ran for their lives.
The equites chased them down.
The battle was hard fought.
The list of the slain was long,
and the lesson the legion sent was clear.

Those of the enemy that got way brought this message home.

The Roman legions are strong and disciplined.

They do not falter,
and they give no quarter.
Do not test the power of Rome.

Noah's Ark

God asked Noah to build an ark
he was happy to oblige
but he wasn't so keen
when he found out
what had to go inside

Two of every animal
then you must set sail
the animals were fearful
the whale began to wail

Even the Gnu knew
this idea would surely falter
but every beast preferred this idea
than being led by nose to slaughter

Noah followed the order
from gnat to lion to horse
this was a recipe for Pandamonium
but Noah knew this of course

Seating plans were issued
but an almighty row took place
The lion the king of the jungle
argued that he was a special case

The Queen Bee wanted second billing
while the Emperor penguin demanded a throne
while the homing pigeon panicked
at not being able to find his way home

Nightime was the worst
sleep was beyond them all
with the woodpecker continually pecking
and the gloworm lighting up the hall

The doves tried to keep the peace
as all hell broke loose
while bets were taken on who had the longest face
the horse, anteater or moose

The pandas tried to be romantic
sleep deprivation made their eyes go black
the magpies kept stealing the others duvets
and the squirrels were nuts to turn back

The elephants said they'd never forget
and they wished they packed more in their trunk
while the terrible smell that stunk out the place
was eventually blamed on the skunk

The bears awoke with sore heads
they had drunk all their supplies in one night
while the hyenas found it hilarious
at their next door neighbours plight

The crows shouted blue murder
but the bats were blind to it all
the ravens were ignored by the masses
as all they said was 'never more'

The maggots agreed it was just rotten luck
to be stuck in this mobile zoo
and every time the peacock showed his feathers
it made the pigeones coo

The badgers were set in their ways
the sheep said their wool was a curse
while the spiders got a verbal warning
for using a sows ear to weave up a purse

Finally they found dry land
the hare raced out in the lead
while the tortoise said there was more to life
than doing everything at top speed

Noah was happy that the journey had ended
and this was the end of the road
but at least one species had enjoyed the trip
the rabbit population had increased ten fold!

Sports orchestra is unique fun
On this Annual Sports Day
Of my collegeCollege
And a joy to share in races thyey run.
With a will to win are our athletes
Gathering speed from the start
As if fitted with turbo-blaster
Playing alone or in teams.
Some, though not in the lead
Have a heart and a hope
The spirit of competition
And still a desire to succeed.
While some are singing their support cadence
racers like tornadoes
Rip through the field
As fans cheer their crooning friends.

Spread My Wings and Fly

Breathing, looking, feeling and walking
 Deciding, choosing, living and talking
Just like a developing child; an adolescent learning
Just like an endless beginning a genuine yearning

Independent, supported or alone
Beg, borrow, or maybe one day I'll even own
There is definitely a light and it is calling me
Close my eyes spread my wings and I will fly free

No more shame, pretend, cheap smiles and lies
No more ifs, buts, maybes or whys?
Who are you? What do you want? How do you sleep?
I know now I am not your possession to abuse and keep

You were right, it's dramatic, and all for show
But it was you in the lead role, so desperate to grow
Like a parasite you tried to consume and destroy my life
Like a human being I tried to be your daughter, and friend

Go back to where you came from; it is what you do best
Go back to being nothing,; an annoying little pest
And when you get there be sure look up high
Can you see me beaming brightly, lighting up the sky

Each night I am reminded that you are evil, selfish and vile
Each night I am reminded how lucky I am, blessed and smile
You should see us now you've gone; happy, confident and born again
All our own work, they erased you and survived any pain

It was much easier than I thought; you can't miss what was never there
But unlike you, I did feel love, I wanted to grow, experience and share
What a waste, a pointless thought and an unwanted gift
All you saw was credibility, an excuse and blame to shift

It is getting closer, that beautiful light calling me
Close my eyes spread my wings and I am flying free
It's over, just give up and please let us be
Never again imprisoned, now and forever I'm holding the key

Your self-pity and fairy tales fall on deaf ears
I geuss ive just filtered you out after all these years
Your stories and lies create no sympathetic tears
One by one everyone is hearing the truth
T.R.U.T.H. comes with REAL evidence and proof

I swear this is the final night you will give me no sleep
There's no master plan or cunning revenge for me to reap
You are a lonely now,an idiot, bully, and gambling fool
You've lost again; I've got it all
 Do you feel small?
 Pathetic and cruel
 Down, down you fall
At last I am standing tall
 ...We've got it all
