Mum's Advice Ignored - "don'T Talk To Strangers!"

When I was young, an urban lass, and not gregarious,
I’d never dream of speaking to a stranger on a bus.

I’d sit, demure, my eyes downcast, and hope quite desperately
That none of those weird passengers would try accosting me.

But, now I’m “fair and forty” (ish!) I’m bolder, and what’s more,
I’ve lived so long in Somerset I’d clean forgot mum’s law …

Until I went to London town to see my student daughter;
She lectured me for doing what I really didn’t oughta!

“You shouldn’t, mum! It isn’t safe!” she cried, in some alarm.
“Some folk round here are really strange. you might have come to harm!”

I’m sorry I upset her, but I carried on regardless.
I found most folks in London are quite friendly … even harmless.

Oh! I do love London Transport, and its camaraderie!
I had such fun, and lots of laughs and all completely free (!)

But now I’m home, I realise …
That weirdo, then,
Was me!!

Premium Member When Proof of Gotcha Is Ignored

After reading opinions of many PS poets, I'm sick of hearing phrases like,
"it's causing big problems," "making me heartbroken," "it sickens me," and many other negative thoughts that are detrimental to the site. I've given up trying to comprehend why some use it and claim it as their own. It's the same with plagiarizing, so I'll save myself the angst of using similar phrases because this is how I see it...

They come in all sizes, shapes, and each gender
posting poetic words that to them do not belong
and then deny it. To the truth they'll not surrender
AI users and plagiarizers will never admit the wrong

I've grown weary reading about it and I'm disconnecting
from caring if they keep getting away with it on the soup
I've stopped using detectors for those I've been suspecting...
ones who continue to debase themselves; it's low to stoop

Sadly, I've seen "Gotcha" written too often in the last year
Proof's been sent to those who should uphold their claim
Written words in PS established rules are not upheld here
leaving AI users and plagiarists getting away with their game

What drives you to steal poetry of others and call AI your own?
Is it because there's no harsh penalty from the administration?
People, you who call yourselves 'poet,' I cannot condone
those who cheat again and again and face no degradation

My eyes will be blind to those users and their schemes
I'll write what I choose as long as I'm pleased with my lines
Attention to mentioned issues has gone far beyond extremes
It's a legitimate gripe but I'm done with complaints and whines

Awake To God S Touch

Dedicated to Charlie Cooper, poet brother, R.I.P.
,
 Awake to  God’s Touch +++

Desperate prayers
Shouted, even silently
Howling heavenward:
Begging, pleading
Again
For God to come…

Poignant prayers
Revealing struggles,
And needing help
   to go on through
Present straits; to be
Embraced through
Aloneness and fears.

Those prayers pause
Often near despair —
    feeling ignored:
With no attained
    communion felt.
But, child of God,
Know that in your
 Seeking…

Is of God’s leading,
And his calling, his
Touching invitation
That brought you to
Your asking-prayers.
Our most holy
     **I AM** stays

…Wanting, waiting
For you to sense and
 — at last…realize he
Is ever-present
Within your
Believing, opening,
*Expecting*heart…

Ignored

You stopped to stare
But didn't bother to speak
I cried at your back.

Ignored

We talked,
But I wasn't heard,
We walked,
But you scattered,
We built,
But you destroyed,
I thought,
But you acted,
We were determined,
But you exterminated...

You were blind,
I was sighted,
You were darkened,
I was lightened,
I was myself,
You weren't yourself...

I was lone,
No one cared.

I was ignored,
No one cared,
About my emotions...

My Crown An Ignored Frown

I am the last resort, afterthought
when all the pretty ones have turned you down
I am the one who falls back and takes it
my crown an ignored frown

I am the one who opens up until you're done
I am the voice unheard

I ask no questions, I just agree
I get what I deserve

Ignored Breath

Sweet breath of steaming treats traveled

through the diner, the streets, lingered

and was ignored by all

but one. A lone little girl with dirt

upon her nose. Savory juices ran

down laughing chins, dripping

with the ending rains.

Her trembling fingers flicking

little dots of mold. Standing beneath

 wondrous sights, dancing stars,

and the full moon's light,

the poor girl ate. Tricked

by whispering breath she smiled.

Every swallow savored

she stepped into the night.

To Be Ignored

Just ignore this
nothing but
letters
on paper
taking
a stroll
across
the lines

Out in
the fresh air
with
eyes wide
open
newly
released
from
a pen.

POET IGNORED

One must go on, though comments are rare.
And grit one's teeth as a
Grizzly Bear.
If you are one of these, please
be true to yourself.
This site after all is called
Poetry Soup,
Not the Comments Shelf!

Be patient, be kind, even though
seeing few comments makes
you cry.
Your poetry is excellent, even
though hundreds read you and
leave you high and dry!

Don't even try to play the comments
game.
Comments are not the road to success
nor fame.
Concentrate on being a poet!
You will honor and write your very
best, acwoledge you, and show it!

A Musical Clue, Ignored.

Throaty, rhythmic guitar rolls
Across the room and calms my hands.
His voice, like a cigar box angel
Pokes around my insides and opens my mouth-
It finds plenty of nesting spots.
I wait for you to turn around
To see each word he has sung
Poking out of me in relevant locations.

Ignored

I am a poem that no one wants to read
I am a path that few desire to tread
A rejected script that is gathering dust
This world of ours can be truly unjust

Miss Sea

O terrible Sea you swept me up,
I see my dream in a person!
O frightening Sea you fill my cup
Of bad schemes, your visits worsen!

The Cloud beyond your wonder hovers
Above me, your claim's never touched.
In secret, we can be great lovers!
With just your Blue, my heart is clutched.

O wonderful Sea you swept me up,
I see my joy in a person!
O marvellous Sea you fill my cup
In good dreams, you visit often!

I am appalled by nothing you do,
You claim my soul with no true ire!
I am very happy with no rue,
You make me sing of pure desire.

O dreadful Sea you built me up,
I see my light in a person!
O mysterious Sea you break my cup!
My fantasies, you crush often.

The Reflection of Sunsets That Ignored the Destination of Us

It seemed to me, when the sun set and his eyes mirrored clouds with raindrops that had yet
to fall, it seemed to me...

we'd been ignoring the weeks it took to get this far.

I'd spoken often, on Wednesdays, when I sat alone and conversation happened to be the only
thing that kept my hair from tearing herself out, of ice cream Sundays and possibilities
of his hand touching the little milky white part of my right thigh in a brushing that made
me shudder....

made me realize...

how much I needed him.

It was the tiny moments I sketched and photographed that held me, his eyes when he loved
me, and the sweat that settled herself on the nape of my neck when he kissed me,
tightening curls and muscles that hid themselves from the hours I'd pretended to be
nothing....

but a woman.

I glanced to my left as I awaited his voice, as I searched somewhere for the echo of
nights past and the graze of sleeping when his legs brushed up against the outside of my
ankles, I waited as I stared at the walls that appeared behind me when he found nothing
else to do but smile, and I had blushed, schoolgirl red with the imagination that I was
still there for hearts beat faster in those days...

in the days that lived inside the weeks...

we may have ignored...

as we walked farther, he and I, towards places I couldn't see and destinations I had never
heard of, but...

you see...

his fingers, his hand...

brushed up against my thigh, as I shuddered and needed him...

as he kissed me

and my eyes mirrored sunsets and storm clouds that held raindrops that had yet

to

fall.

My Self-Ego Ignored

Why do I care more about others than myself?
Isn't a rightful liaison a duty to give away a joy that
isn't perspicuously mine or should it be considered so?
And that brings up this poignant and perplexing question:
how to cope with criticism and still subdue my self-ego ignored?

Friends approach me and say with a sympathetic tone,
" You need to put aside some time to enjoy yourself,
to detach yourself for a while from the worries,
and troubles you constantly see in everyone;
more than anything else, take care of yourself! "

Would such friendly and egotistic words agree with my humane mentality?
It will make things worse, not better as I move forward to achieve social well-being;
I have been known to have taken the shirt off my back without hesitating,
and provide advice and care even in a small way to ease a friend's burden;
I been called gullible and definitely the nicest person alive unable to tell a lie!

Living for others is a commitment obliged by must,
I will gladly divide a loaf of bread and not take a single slice...
and I will be satisfied only when they are full and smile;
if saints have done that: going to bed hungry to feed the neediest,
shouldn't I act in the same way, instead of looking away and not serenely sleep?

Many not agreeing with me, may come forward with their vague view;
I will tell them without complicated words...without explaining actions for doing such deeds;
nobody will sway me from acting on instinct when the needy's courage is not bold...
selfishness is a shameful attitude in front of poverty...an ugly word, a presumed virtue!
Let them wonder and be amazed how I choose generosity over my self-ego ignored!

Ignored

Ignored, Her words mean nothing.
What she has to say does not matter,
There for she does not matter.

Nothing, worthless.
Her heart is a toy to play with.
She values nothing but a merely cow.
Sold throughout masters.

What makes her happy
Gets thrown away.. Memories lost as well.
There is nothing in her life,
but emptiness and sorrow.
I'm her.
