The harvest moon appears behind the hill
In purest enchantment like so foretold,
As her radiant tassels glimmer still
Like embroidered lace of russet and gold.

From whispering of the ambient breeze,
A nightscape etches autumn’s moss and fir
Through lucent bowers of glorious trees;
Where dragonflies and owls reel on, astir.

How bold the prism of a cycle’s ray
While September’s moonrise adorns the earth;
Igniting bright pageantry on display
With holy graces from nature’s rebirth.

Till majesty of lit sparkle descends;
And once more evenings’ ceremony ends.

When harvest moon alights,
to sail like gauzy lace
on through a cloud’s embrace...
I watch her mystic rites,
as beaming, she excites
my lithesome hours of grace.

How glorious the view
atop a mountain crowned…
with lilies all around
that settle on her queue,
beguiling eve, anew
when sparklers reach the ground.

Till weaves of dawn advance
which ends fine Luna’s trance.

Blue Harvest Moon

Comes silently
on sorrel moccasins

roosted on tortoiseshell
of root cellar

singing, stumbling
in numb imaginings

lit with half-light
vegetables
squeezed in jars
of russet and avocado

above
a cornice of sky
split with laughter
searching
for broken arrowheads
gold and silver among leaves

air billowed white
from lips
soft frail bones
of snowflakes
magically appear
scattering in breath
taken away
into apple night

A brilliant harvest moon hangs beneath the ebon Colorado sky.
Scudding clouds dare not darken its lustrous glow - tho' they often try!
Silhouetted against the moon are geese winging to warmer destinations,
Mysteriously guided by That Master Compass in perfect V formations!

The moon spreads a coat of silver on lakes and rushing streams below.
Yonder, majestic Pikes Peak gleams with a crown of freshly fallen snow!
White tail deer peer shyly from the shadows of golden aspen groves.
Magnificent elk graze in yon valley 'neath the harvest moon in droves!

Lovers, young and old are spellbound by the harvest moonlight's trance.
Mr. Moon has a special knack for setting the tone for love and romance!
They hold hands strolling along moonlit trails to reminisce and dream,
Their glowing faces brightened by the harvest moon's mellow beam!

Families bundle up against the chill to enjoy hay rides and wiener roasts,
And toast marshmallows over roaring fires, telling tales of scary ghosts!
Wizened "hooty" owls emit their throaty moans adding to the eerie scene!
The moon beams benignly o'er Colorful Colorado giving to all a sheen!

When autumn winds begin to blow and trees stand bare and so austere,
We welcome the warming glow of the harvest moon in our hemisphere!
Alas, tho' the harvest moon graces our skies only in the autumn of the year,
The Creator will delight us again come next October - that you need not fear!

The harvest moon rises so bright
Through the deep darkness it does shine
Like an orange ball in the night
Evolving with wishes of mine

Through the deep darkness it does shine
Chasing away any worry
Evolving with wishes of mine
With fall dreams before snow flurry

Chasing away any worry
The golden globe does lead the way
With fall dreams before snow flurry
Friendship strengthens into the day

The golden globe does lead the way
Life is shining just like the moon
Friendship strengthens into the day
It leads the way to colors soon

Life is shining just like the moon
Like an orange ball in the night
It leads the way to colors soon
The harvest moon rises so bright

And the Harvest Moon Smiles

And the harvest moon smiles

The ground beneath my feet
solid as is stone of millennium’s might and fear
Flat on a surface of cultured desires,
formidable, paved in promises kept and windswept actions

This night, chocolate skies of peering pleading eyes,
locks smooth, dark, shining beneath silent stars
glowing down upon this photograph dream
developing on the breath of autumn’s coming

Softly I lay you down, earth and colored leaves
vibrant as this beauty I hold, tinted in hues of love
Comfort beyond compare, nature’s pristine blanket
engulfs your form as I find my way in the dark

Sultry sighs echo on midnight bluffs and aching cliffs
Silhouetted caverns, ignited by reflections of sensual calls
and names found on the evening canopy, resonate
in melodic tones of amorous endeavors

Sunflower lips, smooth as mirrored glass and fragrant as life
meet mine in passion, touching, feeling, every inch
as we dance to the rhythm of early hour heart beats,
entwined in the pleasure shared by two destined souls

When snow caps melt in a violent flow of heated steam,
fissures of depth on blood streaked skin,
as your nails scream beneath my flesh,
crimson euphoria dripping

We plead this earth, this solid ground to move
when as asked, it moves,
madly shaking, erupting until
shattering in a crescendo of spark filled ecstasy…

and the harvest moon smiles

Harvest Moon

The skies are blessed
with a spectacular magical
Harvest Moon as it sits low
on the horizon
It's bright ambient orange
glow at its zenith shining
bigger and brighter
Chords of moonlight shimmer
as it stretches out to caress the
waters surface
Years ago its brilliant illumination
 would announce summers end
while shedding light so farmers
could garner their crops
Still today leaves all
beguiled by its powerful mystic full
celestial beauty inspiring many to
attempt to do justice to
it's amazing seductiveness

Tonight it’s forecast to be a Harvest Moon
so we stroll hand in hand on the shore.
The sea’s so tranquil, so unlike yesterday
when waves crashed and tempest raged.

Clouds drift on by, casting a misty shadow
‘pon ripples on the glistening calm sea.
A rich crimson glow radiates in the sky
the moonshine creates beauty and grace .

All thoughts are forgotten; we gaze at the moon
we’re transfixed by its colour and size.
Alone on the beach my love and I
special moments like these are so rare.

We stay on the beach for several hours
walking barefoot along the moist sand.
Our footprints follow us; and they’ll remain
until the tide gently sweeps them away.

Sweet summer is kissing goodbye,
embracing the harvest moon nights,
summer birds bid adieu and fly,
sweet summer is kissing goodbye,
earth’s bosom heavy with a sigh,
tears of maple glow in moonlight,
sweet summer is kissing goodbye,
embracing the harvest moon nights.

The Harvest Moon

A harvest moon high
above makes people wonder
why is it so big

Harvest Moon

Gather in the field, collect up the harvest,
stay together and be aware.
Do not stare into the night, too long…
Get up with the dawn, work early.
Work all day and know that all is well.
Do not fear what you can not see.
That is not important. That is how it should be.

Keep your eyes on the seeds you have sewn.
The crops are ready, bring them in.
They will keep you through the winter,
and feed your family, and your kin.

While…
There will be some that need more help.
They did not plan as well.
Fear not, it is a gift, that you have been given;
an abundance of both heart, and home.

Blessings on your life, your family, your friends.
Share in all things. Love thy neighbor, as you would yourself…
Your table will be bountiful, your home will have no leaks,
Your children will not go hungry in the famine of recklessness.
Be cheered. Be happy. Be at peace.
Love, beyond your limits,
and you will know no bounds…

Harvest Moon

Austere and cold, the harvest moon
adrift through raven skies, alone.
Do you divine some ancient rune,
or are you but a mute, gray stone?

The timeless void that you traverse
holds earth and stars eternal course.
Will you convey a prophet's curse,
or lead all men unto their source?

Your haunting, amber face conceals
enigmas of the heavens deep.
The sparkling stars that dusk reveals
assuage us each night's silent sweep.

We view your vast, celestial realms
from sheltered dens on earth below.
You steer the broad, nocturnal helm
to guide us safe through heaven's flow.

We ponder on this cloud-strewn night
before we seek out sleep and dreams,
might we join you where stars shine bright
to soar your wide, ethereal streams?

                             Harvest Moon
