Despair Erased (Poem entered in contest before)

The cloudy day omens a dreary week
As we count down to Easter, next Sunday.
After Lent message, we're too sad to speak.
We're seeing everything in shades of grey.

We gladly waved our palm leaves on the way,
Not knowing where his final steps would lead.
For our sin, with his pure life he will pay.
We weep that our own actions bring the need.

At Easter Sunday Services, the sky
Is brightened by a most rewarding sight.
The good news must have been the reason why
The clouds have dissipated in the night.

His love more than we ere dare envision.
Halleluiah, He is truly risen!

Famous Last Lines

Halleluiah, He is truly risen!
We sing these words when Easter comes around.
For Lent we've borne the burden of betrayal
And have mourned as he was laid within the ground.

The Easter Sunday Services brought good news.
Christ has risen and the stone is rolled away.
This heavy boulder also took our burdens.
If we believe, we will not have to pay.

Good Friday brought us into deep depression,
When Jesus suffered for our selfish sin.
The bells of Easter tell another story
Christ has risen and we sinners are forgiven.

Congratulation On Your Graduation

Congratulation on Your Graduation

Congratulation with my
Blessing and my love
Who have achieved and accomplish
The first part of your world
You made it through the first grade,
The third, and now twelfth
Congratulation: I know
You are proud of yourself

God made an angel, and
You are special in this world
With parents pushing you
Along with prayers and love
You mastered the best in your field,
Knowing that you can learn it
Congratulations child
Halleluiah! You’ve done it!!

TEN DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS

Ten days till Christmas
Ten days of worry hustle
What shall I get her?

She won’t help me out
Won’t even give me a clue
What’s a man to do?

She never complains
About my Christmas presents
No just this blank look

Makes me feel so small
Makes her feel she has revenge
A poke in the gut

“You never listen!”
These are some of her complaints
“You leave the seat up!

Don’t care how I dress
Might as well wear an old sack
Just like some old hag”

I can’t help but laugh
Because her description fits
OW! OUCH! That did it!

I will pay dearly
That laugh has ruined her Yule
Ten days of silence

Ten days on the couch
Eating out at McDonald’s
By myself outcast

HALLELUIAH!
Thanks Lord ten wonderful days
HALLELUIAH!
……………………………………………….

This is not a description of my married life. I’m just having fun. This is more of a Major Hoople
poem – “Egad, Martha! Awpf Sputt!”

Of a Tree, Thee, and An Angel's Fee

Force feed me the taste of your skin

‘You will have to break my chastity belt wide open now
for I have sold myself into silent slavery to this ….our universal broken heart

even you will have to try hard……to save me now

I cannot recall your sounds…your hand motions
as they devoured the subtle softness of me
drew round my curvaceous places in curling ownership
intimacies’ sweetest embrace

But too…you move to me
with a ferocity that mowed the grass down to a short golf course length
from the living room table where you drew it happening… a hundred years ago

The length of your hair too has been a subject of much debate
Love
that surging heavenly song...that told our story so well

like that movie from long ago about the girl who cut off and sold her hair to buy her love a golden watch fob and chain …the one who sold his golden watch to buy her a beautiful clip pin for her gorgeous long hair
………………………………..you see how this goes …with true love

We cut off our noses and then turn backs on our faces
and on each other on Facebook

Itself the enemy…where only devils and the luckiest of angels spread

Tread on me beloved!
till I am awakened
to our lips
which just now in writing I suddenly can feel meeting again

taste
smell
the salted brine of your pure water and sometimes beer soaked self

Is it me you feared
as you said Good bye?

How little you know me

like the formation of the first ever green tree grows up one limb at a time
from a base long song of deep roots and strong center...so beautiful the Hosts stagger before its creation ….Halleluiah
The limbs sprouting forth like the wings bursting out of the flesh of the first angel
who died in agony as they were formed….exploding from his shoulders
moving her hair aside as the arch of wing thrust like white tree limb from the goodness within
and the reincarnation of true kindness was born to the conscious of itself

so my love knows no limit
my soul no separation
and my being no longing

The Sacrificial Lamb

His glorious throne He left
for this unruly world of theft
A great sacrifice He offered
for the world He suffered
Into this world He was born
The sewage of sin He had to burn
Gifts they brought
His life Herod sought
The erudites swore
Crown of thorns He wore
Oh!
He died then, though alive
Halleluiah!
He's resurrected, yes He has
The precious lamb of God has
risen to life
Three days in the grave, yet back
to life
The power of death He has
thrown into the eternal sack
The sacrificial lamb

Daniel Joshua and Jonah

Daniel Joshua and Jonah
(children's song music & lyrics by Joan Donnelly 1991)
Verse 1
Now Daniel was thrown to the Lions but he was in God's care
Daniel prayed to God three times a day and Jesus heard his prayer
Jesus locked the lion's jaw tight because Daniel did what was right
And the King arrived and set Daniel free ...safe in the King's arms Daniel did flee.

 Chorus 1:
You can now hear Daniel praising:
Oh Halleluiah, You scareded dat, awsul bad, maded me mad, that awsul bad lion away.

 Verse 2:
Now Jonah was a rebel who refused to obey
Then he woke up in the belly of a whale swimming 'round in his tears 3 days
God sent the whale to Nineveh where he spat Jonah out from his insides
Cuz Jonah said he'd obey God and spread the gospel to the Ninevites
Who turned from wickedness and God saved their hides

 Chorus 2:
Oh Halleluiah Jesus, Jonah sang, I love you
You opened the mouth of the whale and rescued me
Cuz I'm too good for blubber stew.

 Verse 3:
Now Joshua was an Israeli soldier and a gem to God was he
Joshua and army marched 'round the walls of Jericho 'til they tumbled supernaturally
And God never, never, never, never, never, never , never ignores those who repent and pray
Jesus sanctifies, and he purifies cuz He is the Light and the Truth and the Way.

 Chorus 3:
Oh Halleluiah Jesus I love You ooo hoo hoo hoo
Oh Halleluiah I love You, I love You, I love You

Halleluiah, hip-hooray and do-re-me-fah-lah

Betcha can't guess why my spirits are flying high
My uncle left me scads of dough, a happy dude am I

Let me see, what to do with all my new found cash
A villa on the Riviera, each night a different bash

Or what about a condo in the centre of Manhattan
Frequent all the trendy spots in tails, top hat and satin

Find a gal with a luscious bod to curl up all my toes
Money talks, I might get lucky Heaven surely knows

Keep your knickers on said one of my very good friends
Is this the way you really want this lurid tale to end

Why not give it all to the needy coz at the end of the day
You'll feel like a million bucks, and this is what you'll say

Boom-dee-adda, boom-dee-adda, ziss-boom-bah
Halleluiah, hip-hooray and do-re-me-fah-lah

Let the rain kiss you;
Let the early morning dew fall on you;
Let the sun embrace you;
Let it rise and give you a brightest day;

I am come to mind;
This is the time, to rejoice in it;
I have been reminded that God has plan this;
And His promises are...

To
Let the rain kiss you;
Let the trees clean the air that you breathe;
Let the rocks hold you as you walk on waters at ease;

I am delighted that the rainbow is God's promise;
That He won't destroy the world that way;
With water again running a away water rising, rising high...

Let the eagle fly, soar high and higher toward the skies;
Let the squirrels play running up and down the trees always;
The flowers grow you pick them take them in you smell them;
Aroma so inviting thank you God. . .

Christmas At Grandmas

Christmas at Grandma’s
over the river and the thru the woods
it’s damn cold out here even with our hoods
the horse knows the way but he tends to sway
if he drops we won’t be getting away.

next year I will get a two horse sled
it’s not fun with one horse almost dead
so we jingle the bells and secure the straps
laughing all the way with some peppermint schnapps.

oh what fun it is to ride to grandma’s house we go
bringing lots of gifts and a ho ho ho
hope she tossed out her old ragged apron
had to be worn during the Magellan exploration

joy to the world we are finally getting here
came with crackers and some silent night beer
few sips of that and you’re out for the night
too bad, you won’t see Rudolph so bright

oh come all ye faithful to the big hearty dinner
stuffing is homemade , grandma’s prize winner
cranberry sauce running over the sides of my plate
hope when the turkey is carved it won’t deflate.

Hark the angels, the food is being served
grandma sure knows how to stay well preserved
so many years we travel the path for yuletide
we don’t see her often enough due to the great divide.

well dinner is over and the bird won’t squawk no more
looks like it stepped on a mine before hitting the floor
we gathered around the same old rustic tree
must have been made during the war at sea.

Gifts were passed out and grandma served the eggnog
had to be spiked, felt I was in a fog
the walls were rotating with visions of strobe lights
the tabernacle chorus sang Halleluiah & O’ Holy night.

this was the most wonderful visit all these years
I snuck out with three bottles of her secret cheers
grandma, thank you for the wonderful time
we’ll be back next year with another rhyme

Premium Member I Want To Write

I want to write but I can't think straight.
I want to translate this turmoil in my head
into meaningful, metered, poetic sense.
I want to be able to express this angst,
this battered emotion, this ridiculous notion
that everything will be alright - how contrite!
I want freedom to express this pent up agony.
I want words to flow from me and aspirate this pain.
I want to start to live again....to breathe easy..
to trust, to love, to feel, how ideal
that would be: a chance to be ME. How quaint!
.
..Breathe...BP lowering...Inhale....Count to ten.....Exhale.................................

That torrent of words has brought liberation -
it always does! It's my medium of expression;
my art form; my Valium; my addiction; my shot
of heroin; my snort of cocaine - Halleluiah! I live again!

(p.s. There isn't really this much angst in my life - I wrote this several years ago!)

Walls of Citadel

So what's the running hubbub--hot-toot's Shangri-la?
Our fear of death's gone wacko. It’s crowding up the bar.

Let's drink to obfuscation. Annihilation’s hip.
Roll out the tequila sunrise.
Go down with the black-sail ship.

But could it be, O, could it be
that we had just forgot,
or we'd missed that day of Bio
in high school's tommyrot?

At work and seeming happy,
our cells in superb supply--
exist but a day, others for a week
or more, then die.

Perpetual dying and birthing
is the body’s oldest art.

And so--which you is the
You of you?

Conglomerations of cells a-croaking
in requiem symphonies of death?
Or halleluiah songs of the lively new?
Neither or both?

Then there's considering the case of old Bob Kelly
who, in his downward slide, one brilliant morning
awoke to exclaim: I myself can never die!
I just change and I fly!

So when we're saddled up with terrors,
believing love is far behind, or the Blues
is all we're singing, and our watches
won't tell time--we might recall
that magical Kelly, busting the walls
of citadel.

And we could believe it true.

Is fear of death and dying
the hell that we do make?

Now, enough with these perambulations!
Let us regard the drink.

Only Love of My Life

As they say I came from a bad family
it was rough to trust anybody
especially the mother and father
the most, they hurt us you see and didn't bother
to apologize of course, we were nothing
after all we were objects without feelings
we couldn't love if we never had it
all we could do was on the inside have a fit
one day I had a most beautiful baby girl child
I looked up at God and I know he smiled
I promised him if he let me keep her I would
be the best mother in the world if I could0
I watched her in awe, how amazing
this child brought me such joy, I was craving
I knew love, this was love, halleluiah
Dear God thank you so nice to know her
she made me happy, no bad days, never
my heart full of love for her like I never, ever
thought I could experience for anyone
but she was a slice of heaven, so much darn fun
no more sad days, no more crying
that no one loved me and I was dying
on the inside so lonely
the greatest gift in the world if only
everyone knew what I knew, and felt what I felt
they'd be so thankful forever and even knelt
before God and thank him a million times
for having this precious angel in their lives to read nursery rhymes
I Love You my Kymber Michelle
I will forever and ever I promise to tell
you just grow up healthy and wise
I'll sing you lullabies and help you not to cry
God and me will watch over you.........mommy
