Gracie and Frankie were frogs,
who were sitting on two ends of a log.
They met in the middle,
and started to fiddle,
now their tadpoles all swim in a bog.

Tanka To My Three Girls, Molly, Gracie and Zoe

Tis with woeful eyes,

As I watch you leave again,

                                   When will you return?

Or is this our last goodbye

I’ll wait on the porch till night

Old Soul - For My Gracie

I think you have
An old soul inside
That reveals itself
Only to me
You embrace me
Knowing that
I need you to
Girl of my womb
Your hair soft
Under my nose
And you squeeze
Me so tight
As if you've known
Me longer than
Your six years
Your old soul
Warming mine

Gracie Girl

Will you hug me Mom?

Oh yes, Gracie, so so tight.

Will you tickle me Mom?

Now and always I will.

Will you snuggle me?

I am the best snuggler Gracie girl.

Mom, can we read 2 books tonite?

Mom is tired, how about one.

I was a good girl, please read 2.

Gracie, one day Mom will be old.

3 like me, mom?

No baby, but maybe eighty three.

Gracie, will you hug me?

Tight tight tight, Mom.

My sweet girl, will you tickle me?

On your funny tummy, Mom.

Will you still snuggle me beautiful girl?

But you are the best snuggler, Mom.

How many books will you read me, Gracie?

Mom, if you are a good girl,
I will read you 2 books.

Please don't forget me
when I am old my Gracie.

No Mom, when you are little and I
am big I will brush your hair.

Thank you Gracie girl.

Sleepy Gracie

Many things about you
Make the tenderest
Parts of me sigh
The way your feet
So tiny curl and spoon
Each other when you sleep
Just as they did almost
Four years ago as you
Tossed in my womb
As if when your mind
Is unconscious of the world
It returns to the safest
Place and reminds your
Sweet perfect little body
In it's primal position
To snuggle up in the safety
Of the one who made you

Gracie Von Antemeter

One o'clock in the morning,
we connect by phone,
Chicago to Boston. I tell you
about the ugly tomatoes I bought,
your in hysterics. Listen, I say,
they have a their own web site;
take them seriously.
We head to the fruit
while you read me a story,
it's about a poet, nabbed
by the cliche police.
You can hardly read;
I can hardly listen.
ROTFLOAO! We become certifiable
when Tom, Matt and Otto,
("The Authentic Grape Tomatoes") say hello.
I'm happy you had a good day
with your new screwdriver;
you're happy, and still laughing
about the ugly tomatoes. Somehow
we get from the perfectly round tomato,
(exploited and tasteless; engineered
by geeks and pushed over the top
by marketing geeks) that satisfy
everyone but the customer,
to my telling you, Wal-mart
has ripped the souls out of our towns.
You read me a poem. I read you a poem,
Franz Wright's "Publication Date" -
I get to my favorite line-
"A sparrow limps past on it's little crutch saying
I am Federico Garcia Lorca risen from the dead -."
and I'm gone again.
You solve a bump in your epic; I agree.
You read me another poem. We talk about our Kerouac trip
to Georgia. A late, late IM from my daughter
and I have to go; and you're ordering ugly tomatoes.
Good night, Gracie.

Gracie's Lullaby-This Is For Dedicated To Gracie In Her Mom's Point of View

Hush little Gracie
Don't make a peep,
Momma's gonna hold you 'till you fall asleep.
In her arms snuggled and warm,
Sleeping so peacefull through the storm.

Pitter,Patter of the rain falling.
Don't make a sound and listen to the wind calling.
Swish,Swish sound of the wind blowing through,
Laying in the bed with Momma next to you.

Cotton Candy dreams cover the world,
Go to sleep,Momma's lovely girl.

Hush, little Gracie's now asleep.
Lovely little girl not making a peep.

*** I decided each day to write a poem for each victim of Sandy school shooting and maybe share it with their families if that is possible. Even though I am sure lots of people have wrote poems in honor of them. Anyways, the first child I will write about is 7 year old ,Gracie McDonnell.

Look up at the clouds,

And see the image of a peace sign.

Gracie is sending her love through the clouds by wanting peace.

Look up at the stars at night,

And see her beauty shine.

She is sparkling.

Letting her amazing self help people on earth.

Finally,

Look deep inside yourself,

And unlock the anger and hatred caged up.

Gracie wants you to be happy and fill your heart with joy.

Now give the peace sign.

For everytime you do that,

You are helping her promote peace into the world.

I have a young niece and Gracie is her name...
And since she has been in my life I haven't been the same.

She just turned seven and is growing like a weed...
And she brings excitement to life that her grand parents need.

She loves school and is learning each day...
But at her grand parents home is where she loves to play.

There are times when me and Gracie like to act silly and have fun...
And she is so full of energy and keeps us all on the run.

Gracie is my niece and we all love here so...
And she's her grand parents companion wherever they go.

Gracie is only seven but she's as wise as she can be...
And my little niece is simply special to me.

                         Tk.

Oh sweet pet, I miss you so,
For you got old and had to go;
I think of all the happy days
You were part of me in so many ways.

We took so many joyful walks,
And had so many important talks;
You were always ready to greet the day,
Always ready to go out to play.

Your wisdom held so much discerning,
Always eager to keep on learning;
There was joy to feel your ruffled face,
To feel the kiss you knew where to place.

So memories I have must depend,
Upon the loss of my dear friend.
Although you’ve gone from my sight,
I pray you are safe out there in the night.

Healing For Gracie-Goo

"Healing For My Gracie-Goo"

**To everyone who may be reading,
I need a favor from all of you.
I'm begging & I'm pleading,
For healing for my Gracie-Goo.

**She's my daughter & been coughing throughout the night,
My poor baby's not had much rest.
Please pray that she will be alright,
I just hope she'll try her best.

**But to hear her coughing & going through this,
It's not what parents want to see.
Before she laid down I gave her a kiss,
Rather than having her suffer, why can't it be me?

**I just love my girl so much,
I just pray that soon she's well.
Lord send down Your healing touch,
And send her sickness back to hell!

**So now I'd like to thank you all,
For letting me vent to you.
I didn't know on who else to call,
To pray for healing for my Gracie-Goo.

Say Goodnight Gracie

found it
            it was snowing
on the sleeves
   of Buffalo
i’m a Winter gal
            except for
my old gal bones
that freeze
             euphoric
over flakes that fall
   zero
repeat zero
last year
            even Christmas
in Minnesota
   this Bills team
might go go go
             straight
to the Superbowl
and win win win
              our family dream
sure
  would
      put a smile
on the face of my Dad
make my sister extra crazy
   my other sibs
would be hanging from the chandelier
as I turned out the light
to watch it snow snow snow
                  Say goodnight, Gracie…
for one must
   after blowing off the lid
      the practical
blow the candles out
                   and eat the cake
but make no mistake
   her screams linger
let it snow snow snow
                    down my sleeves
make my day
                      please
