Gracie

Oh sweet pet, I miss you so,
For you got old and had to go;
I think of all the happy days
You were part of me in so many ways.

We took so many joyful walks,
And had so many important talks;
You were always ready to greet the day,
Always ready to go out to play.

Your wisdom held so much discerning,
Always eager to keep on learning;
There was joy to feel your ruffled face,
To feel the kiss you knew where to place.

So memories I have must depend,
Upon the loss of my dear friend.
Although you’ve gone from my sight,
I pray you are safe out there in the night.

I don't know about animals on your mind. But Gacie is sure in your heart.

How I wish as well that Gracie is safe-- it is so heartbreaking when one loses a pet-- I remember all too well when we lost one of our shih-tzu dogs-- but yes for these moments, we do have those memories to hold on to...

Love this one, Elizabeth. One of my fave lines was , "important talks." I had a cat like that ... a cuddle beast, huge thing with a belly so big it almost dragged. Animals CAN be friends. Well done, and hope you are high up on that winner's list, Dear. PS- thanks for your kind, warm words on my poems. You're a gem! Cheers and hugs, Cyndi
