     clinging to a wind-tossed leaf
     a red-and-black-spotted ladybug
     flips upside down, then
        right side up
        again and again
        in rapid succession

as if she were caught on
     windshield wipers whapping madly
        ‘midst a driving rain

Flipping the Bluebirds

“Flipping the Bluebirds”

There’s no point playing
Norwegian Wood
when your keyboard’s
like a gun calling

murdering
all your darlings
for other meaningful
glories

lavender doesn’t sit well
when violet’s riddled story
winds up the beat
dodging silver bullets

like sunshine dancing

across the governance board
and the soft-shoe watch
showered with confetti
koans like playing knuckles

for marbled sleuths,
and keystone cops
correct and in their
proper place

kicking back

Love, flips bluebirds easily
like sunshine dancing
all Bonnie and Clyde
across the blackbird’s wing

Kill your darlings
“Kill your darlings” is a common piece of advice given by experienced writers. You kill your darlings when you decide to get rid of an unnecessary storyline, character, or sentences in a piece of creative writing—elements you may have worked hard to create but that must be removed for the sake of your overall story."

Flipping the Wig

The girl had her groove on she
laughed a lot and was hip and
not too heavy going. At seventeen
I needed an old lady to go to the
prom with. Not wanting to wipe
out on my first try I caught the
groove, Taking my time, this chick
was bitchen from top to bottom,
But I had a gnarly set of nerves
because I woke up with a zit on my
nose, what a bummer. I didn't want
her to think I had cooties so I waited.
The time came to ask her. Well, after
all this feeling like a dork, she said
yes she would love to go.
Wow what a gas, I flipped out.

Trump Flipping His Lid

Trump Flipping His Lid

My Today Forward Day By Day
emphasized God's grace. Is my
writing poems and posting them
on Poetry Soup an act of grace?
Here goes. You can start laughing
now if you want to.

Trump would gripe about our hype
Regarding him and each stereotype
His collisions with plans and decisions
How he wants to make many revisions.

Question marks grew bigger and bigger
And out Trump is impossible to figure
So some say that what he finally did
Was for grand finale' flip his lousy lid.

THE FLIPPING INVESTIGATION 2017
All politicians in the beltway show
what signs of times we put up with today,
obesity is in again, we know
and ev'ry politician thinks they're here to stay.

Our greed is yet determined, and well hid
and under ev'ry table there's a hand
while those left out bring threats to blow the lid
if they don't flip it all, as we have planned.

We'll press the charge if running out of time,
from usury to outright fraud and graft,
while common folk make jokes about our crime
but in the end it's we who've always laughed.

And though the swamp is drained, we know,
a world at war is where it all will go.

Flipping the Bird

The Cattle Egret is a bird
That chooses to follow the herd
Because it can't find
A girl who is kind
Or a man as good as his word

Fly Flipping Here and There

An early morning appetiser to help breakfast go down better. TC

This just to whet your appetite

As A Fly Does

What would it be like to be a Fly?
Buzzing around wondering why
Flitting from lampshade to curtain and back,
Dodging the cobwebs and flyswats that crack
Landing on baldheads about to sleep,
Tickling their forearms and couping a “bleep”

How silly a fly simply has to be,
Annoying people just like a flea
Stirring them up to a frightful degree,
Until one can’t stand it and flattens at least three
Who can blame them it can’t be much fun,
The higher they fly the nearer the sun

Regurgitating on ordure and eating it up
Then walking awhile on the lip of your cup
Flies can madden a man to the enth degree,
Making one itch to kill far more than three
But it is only a little insect with a penchant to infect
Doing things peculiar to a lonely insect
Just like we do and the folks they inspect
They proliferate and swiftly inject

A modicum of frustration is generated as I do no doubt
When I’ve gotten under one’s skin and made her pout
Intelligence is remarkable, is it in a fly?
Smarter ones appear to be there as they go on bye

Some certainly keep away, others are a pest
I reckon the further ones are those that know best
If you were a fly would you try to die?
Who would want to linger around a fresh turd pie
Don’t be absurd I hear you ply
You were always ready to give anything a try

This poem by TC is not only great. It is delirious.
When I said that Terry said Horn, are you serious.
Ho Ho

Music of deception plays loud
Mask flips on the faces of crowd
In sly chameleon celebration
I dance with me in isolation.

A Flipping Vision

Some flipping visions leave behind,
Gripping influence on the mind,
They do refresh us more and more,
When are recalled to be flavoured,
From the heap of sunken memories.

I saw a damsel full in size and bulk,
With healthy sanguine vigorous face,
As her blood would trickle out soon,
She was built with all perfections,
Her features raised waves of pain,
Indelible, never to be erased again.

In the glassy house she moved around,
With modest lowering eyes to the ground,
She had no interest in the objects aside,
Seemed to be busy in domestic doings,
Her flexible black dressed shining hair,
Flowed down upon her shoulders,
Her gait and each gesture did bear,
Signs of serene air and celestial piety.

I standing out of the transparent walls,
Looked across with a sense of meekness,
Feeling myself too meager to be attended,
Left the place with loathsome sullen heart.

God Never Likes Flipping His Lid

God Never Likes Flipping His Lid

Why could there be cesspool of ridicule
And like people who are always a fool
Which way should they all start slaving
To find way to stop their misbehaving.

Where you start is most important of all
There could be chips and how they fall
That also may be related to which way
They land and how much you did pray.

Some say don't try cutting your life short
Or an assigned mission by God ever abort
Even though custom of time it may be
You will find yourself far from reality.

Course started should be in a straight line
Regardless if yours may cross over mine
Faster and faster seem to have gone
Hope we won't have to crash head on.

But as usual together were butting heads
While counting our fears along with dreads
What we each have done God did forbid
Patiently He never likes flipping His lid.

A flip

Of perspectives

Lenses changed

Newness arriving

Then and there..

A frequent story

Seeming to miss

There's no one

To witness

A flip..but that's

Another story...

Premium Member Flipping My Lid

It’s been a hard day but there’s no laws to say
That I can’t settle down with a gin
Late night R & R with an hour of TV
And then I will maybe turn in

The gin… that was easy, just spin that screw cap
Then tip up the bottle and pour
But what freaking demon has screwed G & T
It never was this hard before

This flaming recycling nonsense is mad
With screw caps that won’t separate
The cap and the bottle do not come apart
And boy does it make me irate

A one handed action to top up my glass
To sparkle and fizz as I sip
But that is no more because some lunatic
Decided he’d give me some gyp

Brute force is required to crack that first seal
But the cap simply won’t unattach
It sits in the flow and it will not let go
As it acts like a half open hatch

So now I need one hand to angle the bottle
Another to hold back the cap
It’s driving me nuts, I just want to relax
So much for this net zero crap

My bottle of tonic is sat in the cooler
But I settle down in my seat
The medics are worried about a big rise
In folk drinking alcohol neat.

Flipping Amazement In An Unexpected Direction

never thought i would find love again
never thought i would meet you
you are a handful, but so am i
total opposites, but we mesh in an alternative way, if you will

never thought i would kiss soft lips again
never came close to thinking that i would kiss you
oooh, the arguments that we would have
neither one of us backing down
we despised each other so, but somehow, God Intervened

never thought i would enjoy living again
never thought i would be in this car rental driving any damn where with you
we both STAY in awe of the mere fact that we do not pull over and kill each other
however, we are so chill with each other laughing and joking now
we still will let each other know here and there now, but that's love and life
never want to be anywhere else....without the WHOLE of you in my heart, mind, and soul.....
