Premium Member Whats Behind a Smile

She broke my heart instantly
She made me stare reverently
Her smile was enigmatically
Serene yet sad, so strange to see

Not a word did she speak to me
No attention did she seek from me
She just sat there smiling quietly
And her smile just kept on haunting me

What's Behind a Smile?

When I stood up she turned her head
Once more that smile filled me with dread
Had she understood anything I’d said?
Ethereal beauty, were you alive or dead?

As I stepped down from the train
I turned and looked. My chest in pain.
The shock at seeing her again
Smiling at me through the window pane

I walked away - my nerves drawn tight
As the train sped off in the station’s light
I stared again - I had no fight
She caught my eye and smiled outright!

Time’s now passed; still clear I see
Her short blonde hair bobbing so gently
Her bright blue eyes smiling benignly
Piercing straight through my soul to me.

Delusions of Poetry

She was half past metrical
   quarter nonsensical theatrics,
    bordered south of burbled oddities,
fashioned herself enigmatically stated
    whorling an overly zealous lexicon,
recklessly aimed for macrocosmos
bust a rhyme on defeated asphalt,
whereupon she never ceased to
  waver from gumption's potential
     'tween vast illusions of poetry

“The writer must believe that what he is

doing is the most important thing in the

world. And he must hold to this illusion

even when he knows it is not true.”

John Steinbeck

Sumptuous feasts enchanted float on by,
as I peer into an opulent expanse,
garnet clad entrance aglow,
imagine august beauty at its mise en scène peak,
ingress to celestial nirvana’s Laurel-ridden charm,
iridescent veil of cirrus nebula,
window blind ephemeral in situ,
rapid inkling’s meteoric shower,
harvest for the milk and honey bard,
goes beyond elysium horizons,
flight of fancy totem, utter breathless oath,
unearthly surreal lustrous cache,
burst of universal zenith trumpeting,
exalted plot as moonbeam step stair,
just imagine for a spell psalmodic Meccas,
to a hue-laden whirlpool vortex,
that sequesters sun-drenched harbours,
gurgling stream meanders, moss-fleck tides,
mesmerizing shroud of lambent bayou,
hazy plume on silver waterfall,
scarab mountain chain at sapphire dawn,
whose jewel-rich seams glisten enigmatically,
indigo blue species, bold passerine upsweep,
wayfarer halcyon Xanadu bound,
urban forest blackcap’s luscious throb,
snowbird glee club ear chant for
sprightly day-peep first rank,
amber leaf cascade a sequined duvet on barren playground,
rainbow eucalyptus but a foil for sylvan zephyr,
crystal ball elixir knows no quench or glut,
imagine life eternal in my wonder world cocoon

Hades

Death I saw passing by my neighborhood the other day

Some souls to harvest

Intrigued by his austere appearance I approached him and asked:

"Why oh you mighty, Hades, we mortals terrified are at your presence?"

"Because of your ignorance", He enigmatically replied.

Photo Testimony

Somehow, We've been everywhere together
Place us against a back drop
Superimpose us and we'll smile
A perfect fit and sun-shined
against the sleeping moon
Somehow, We are invincible now
Hold the quiet in our hands
Break a breath in photographs
A silent testimony
Enigmatically in tune.

Premium Member Riches

The wise I asked:

"How could I, my life, ever be able to enrich?"

"If your desires, ready are you, to minimize

                                        And

The greed from your heart, willing are you to uproot

                                       Then

Riches beyond your wildest dreams, your heart

May realize. " he enigmatically replied!

The Senset Danced

The tangerine sun has set in the western skies
revealing to existence her maternal intuition.
The eventide ascends before earth’s worn eyes
leaving a silhouette of an artisan’s rendition.
Mother Nature bows down to submission,
she has been completely sagacious and wise.

The twilit moon shines in the depths of obscurity,
his finishing touch of nightfall holds a dim shadow.
The falling stardust shines in simplistic purity
as the constellations glorify their brilliant glow.
For dusk knows things that no man could know
holding onto all things of assurance and security.

All the clouds are enigmatically full of divination,
unfathomable to the core of the curious mind.
Romance from goodbye kisses bring elation,
for the closing of the night has been so kind.
It is time to put the woes of the days behind,
and say goodnight to God’s beautiful creation.

Daddy

A shinny light shone on the horizon
a lofty height further from the forensic
from the loins of wisdom...
wisdom from his loins..begetting mega-wisdom (s)

daddy,my buddy.
my "paddy"...my "caddy"
my confidant..my confidence
the penchant...the fence

my inclination...my adoration
my guide...my guard
man with seven lives,
mum in heaven smiles,

“his fertile effervescent mind”
his fatherly ever - present bind
the simplicity of his complexity
the intricacy of his sagacity

magnanimity exemplified,
hospitality embodified
enigmatically dogged,
sub - urban rugged.
undauntedly courageous..
conscientiously religious
indefatigable hustler.
easily understandable teacher

the earthen raged
you damned the bellows
tactically concealing the hidden page
you squeezed in to the hollow

glad you didn't listen
look at what we would be missing
we might have taken the long way
you always knew we'll get there someday

...Daddy, age with grace!
happy birthday.

Premium Member Echo

The sky's motion and the imagination.
Echo—elation.
I heard the echo and heeded my own voice
Echo—rejoice.
Into a gray, flawless sky as the earth sits still
Echo—drill.
A mellow echo of the music's dying beat
Echo—neat.

Dying screams would echo all night long
Echo—along.
Until even death couldn't stop them
Echo—ahem.
War and quake echoes fade with tears
Echo—fears.
Sounds transform the swords
Echo—words.

And what reality delighted the heart
Echo—art.
Hear the rain, recalling the rainstick
Echo—stick.
In its motions, you can just hear a hush
Echo—rush.
Still, amid it all, the echo of your words
Echo—swords.

There was always a rumble in the house
Echo—spouse.
It's a laugh, but the response has grown
Echo—shown.
Because of this, I'm becoming older
Echo—bolder.
When she left, she took the joy with her
Echo—where?

Narcissus stares into lakes, easing time
Echo—sublime.
frosty mirrors reflect flowers falling thin
Echo—within.
Echo wails sadly through canyons, weak
Echo—unique.
Light-loving eyes don't echo into the past
Echo—cast.

Venus is enigmatically linked to Vesper.
Echo—whisper.
Echoes may bestow hope, yet I obey.
Echo—sway.
The sea breeze should bend the willow.
Echo—billow.
Music blooms in the songs we all sing.
Echo—spring.

When I hear the echo of my own thoughts.
Echo—rots.
There is no one else here except myself.
Echo—shelf.
A kiss will not do as much harm as a gun
Echo—fun.
However, its echoes anticipate further
Echo—together.

Screaming Silence

In an uncertain boat of dilemma,
The chaos burns into my silence,
That parasitic shrillness has turned ferocious.
 Moments are enigmatically crying grievance.

Yet that smile is stubbornly dancing,
In atmosphere of horrific poignant airs,
Fire firing more heat and light,
Life’s belief on heart is in tears.

The music sinuous in wave of harmonic pain,
Every note busy in digging its own grave,
The final epic battle is fiercely waiting for an end,
Just a touch for forever silence, no room for being “Brave”.

Winds are painting the solitude canvas,
Trees turned noisy and irritated,
Soul dived under the sea of misunderstandings,
Swiftly a sense of enigma is elated,

It’s time to end the race with a cremation of time,
Where dignity is dissolved inside fervor of demise,
Endless deeds is disappearing with closing eyes,
Only resurrection of phoenix can bring surprise

On my knees,

Mighty life I implored with all the force of my soul

For

To reveal to me its so many wondrous mysteries!

"Alas,

No mortal would ever be allowed all of my mysteries to know,

until the moment ready is he to enter the dominion of Hades*."

Life enigmatically replied.

Premium Member Listen to the Wind

Written: September 06, 2025, for contest sponsored by: Constance La France

Quote: "On a day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open, and the world is full of beauty". By Rumi

               *********

Listen—not with ears, but with aching skin,
where whispers meander extreme within.
The zephyr is not a cursory breeze,
But divination along with the trees.

It jiggled enigmatically from the stone
and carved its ideology into this bone.
It speaks in whispers and traumatized song,
of where we're accurate, and what went wrong.

Jaw-dropping stories in stillness and hum,
of battles bewildered and those to come.
It hurdles through periods, grief, and grace,
leaving outward fingerprints on the face.

It wears no enthrone, yet huddles the kings;
It severs the tresses on buried things.
So listen in not for roaring decree—
But toward the breath underneath the plea.

The wind will not delay, solicit, or steam,
It is bombastic and allows you to stream.
Zephyr adorns twigs and allows grass to gleam.
