Ambling in the charm of Tidal Basin
We hold hands with a lilac morning
Long before it pleads with the sunrise
To sparkle the view of a purple dawn
Saddled in the daze of hazy fog.

Strolling under gleam of a starry night
Along the trails of romantic banks
We handed...

On your mulberry canvas
I inscribed my tangerine sun
Cached behind a dark rock
When violet dawn broke

Beneath orchid clouds
Your lilac brushstrokes arose
From steel-blue ocean
As gentle winds tickled
Platinum-hued ripples

I sprinkled orange glow
Where you embossed
Shades of ruby-desire
On pink-rose magenta
Floating on purple fire

In silence we held hands
Celebrating romance
Ablaze...

Sonnet Contest -Daybreak
Fair dawn awaits

Once more fair dawn awaits the radiant sun
Clothed in her mantle daubed with streaks of light.
And faithful to the course which life must run;
Receives the baton from retreating night.

Remote yet not alone, for down below
Creation is preparing to rejoice;
Faint silhouettes of trees begin...

Premium Member Daybreak Prelude
Flashing lights and glitter
In the wee hours of the morn
Strange variety of critters
Walking about the streets
Suspicious characters
Nothing like the daytime breed
Nocturnal creepy crawlers
Lurking creatures of the dark
Till sunrise washes over
And the receding tide
Sweeps clean the streets
Under a most forgiving sun

Daybreak Delights
Dazzling dawn with the sun rising high
Shines like a vivid kaleidoscope,
Spreading iridescence in the sky,
Crimson orange golden rays sparkling,
The Master Artist's multihued dye;
Sunrise unravels new mysteries,
Myriad colours pleasing the eye,
Aurora's beauty fills us with hope,
Daybreak delights - To darkness,...

The dawn sky throws a spear of vivid red
lancing the fir treetops, but not yet me
with my bag of bread.
The wheel is still asleep, the water still,
seems today we all have time to kill.
Scan the surface with imagination's eye
waiting for Excalibur to rise,
but no- just...

Premium Member Daybreak: Observed From An Airline Window
The sky shone gaunt gold
on the lip of the storm
before the anvil shaped clouds advanced
upon the burning margins of the world

Like a dream
the thunder rolled away
leaving cotton candy swirls
before a spreading dawn

Gentle white horse clouds appeared
pulling pastel chariots
bearing angels -
rainbows, tinted...

Daybreak Up High
The flight had been long
as the jet soared through night.
My neighbors were lifelessly still,
weary for sleep, the night would fulfill,
and morning would graciously greet.

High up in space, I silently watch
as the sky passes from the deep.
Moving at its pace, much lighter still,
the sun, birthing change...

Premium Member Whispers At Daybreak
Such tender whispers waft on salty air
On foggy mornings waves are brushed in gray
I hear you then as winds caress my hair
Your murmur’s soft, but I know what you say

The day will soon come when we live as one
You know I miss the sea scent...

As dawn breaks

birds start singing,

I hear

their sweet chorus

and smile, knowing that

I awake

to see

the sun rise

on a

brand new day.

Life passes

by all too quickly,

so we should all cherish

each

moment we have left

Daybreak Words Upon the Morning
David J Walker

Awaiting words
That will burst upon the day
Suffused in first light before the sun
Reveals itself

Notice the clouds clinging
             To the sky
Hiding the blinding blend...

Premium Member Daybreak By Design
an eager morning sun is rising
though the moon still hangs pale over the water
and all things trivial cease to matter
when earth and sky are compromising

I'll find dawn's beauty by design
and find, as well, joy overcome
my heart, my soul, while watching from
the window of day-night,...

Premium Member The Birth of Daybreak
I stood on the shoreline of a tranquil lake,
eager for the glorious birth of daybreak
when the hint of burgundy, colored the sky;
a signal to gulls, "Time to take wing and fly."

Tangerine hues flowed from God's paint brush
to color Dawn's cheeks a deep shade of blush.
I...
