Best Crux Of The Matter Poems
I wake up at 5:30 most mornings
Before the sun has a chance to rise
Head for the bathroom as fast as I can
To get rid of yesterday's Mai Tai
I let out a great big sigh of relief
As I wipe the gunk from my peepers
Stand in front of a full length mirror
Like Tarzan, in my trap door sleepers
I sure am ruggedly handsome, methinks
Could even grace the cover of GQ
That's if they publish a special edition
For overweight, balding yahoos
Maybe I'm being too hard on myself
I've still got a surprise up my sleeve
Like running a mile in two hours flat
Great feat for old guys to achieve
Here's the crux of the matter my friends
It's something I sadly must share
Try all your life to take care of yourself
You'll still wind up old with no hair

His body cringed and whined in a terrible anguish,
Counted gasps of last breaths foreboding his hopeless waiting,
His master whom he longed to see before his soul will finally be freed,
Will no longer return and their memories in her mind may even fade.
It was his second time that he had been caught by stranger’s fatal decoy,
The crux of the matter was her absence, so who could save him once more?
Happy were the days when he was with her…given foods, bones and toy,
On his first food poisoning, he was revived by her - such a great joy!
His halcyon days since puppyhood were wistful things to remember,
So naughty he was… poop here- pee there but he was patiently cleaned by
her;
He closed his eyes on his baths to feel his body scrub and nail brushing,
So tidy, yet he must stay off the house while she was in the office, working.
He had encountered accidents many times as he roamed around,
By his dog’s name, he was so resilient in his master’s care and love;
To give back all the pet’s love and compassion, he closely guarded her,
Going out at night, he didn’t care the many dogs that barked to hinder.
He was a real smart dog, looked like a trained one by his master,
He sent her to the bus station, then went back to fetch her after work;
When time came that his master has to leave and work abroad,
She was forced to leave him and he was entrusted to their landlord.
Who could save him from danger and death for the second time?
As his breaths slowly drenched, his hope crumbled in a quarter dime;
No one could really replace the sympathy and care of a real master,
No one could no longer save the life of a very dear smart dog, Saver.
Giving a last kind gaze to his pseudomaster seated beside him,
As if begging, “ Convey to my real master that I’ll forever be her loyal friend,”
After lifting his right foreleg, he slowly laid it down back to the ground,
Finally, on to his eternal rest from all sleepless nights in guarding his house.

The world is filled with good people
But sometimes they just lose their way
As newborns, we all start out the same
With the same joy for life and enthusiastic outlook
THEN we grow up and think to ourselves
“WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!
If I'd realized what the world would be like
I'd have yelled...
“ARE YOU NUTS... PUT ME BACK IN!”
Too late, guess I'll just have to make the best of it
So that's the crux of the matter, this whole thing called life
We can choose to grumble about
What we DON'T have, rather than appreciate what we DO have
It's the down side of human nature it seems
I choose, and everyone else can
To live life to the fullest with a zest for the simple joys
I hear ya yelling, “GET BACK IN YOUR CAGE!”
No problem, I'm convinced an upbeat and happy attitude
Is what's got me through these seventy-nine years
So when things seem like they can't get any worse
Remember, you can't put you back in
So try to be the best person you can be
And trust me, LIFE WILL BE A BLAST!

In light of good memory of how things were, a woman stands unguarded.
Pleasantries, talents, and secretive skills.
I offered to you a drink, allowing you in.
Thinking I had chosen carefully over 37 others. This vexed me.
Read and reread the commentary side-by-side distant eyes and sad smile.
Extracting honesty from typed remarks.
When our eyes met for the first time and you had a smile that broadened
As I drew nearer through a sea of hurrying people, just knowing that it was you.
You felt like home, like mother's sweetened tea.
Later, a little scared to let you drink from my cup, to be your rebound.
You did not hold back your ale, I let you lead.
That first drink of you that sip of your lips, melted the iciness of my demeanor.
My thirst for you consumed better judgement. Intoxication of the moment quinched by your touch.
Offered to you my liquid that sheltered liqueur. Wine housed away deep within me.
Robust when allowed to air. Poured out slowly not to be bruised.
Your skin, your touch like sweet cream. Pouring into me.
To you I poured back mead. Whispering softness in dim moonlight.
Delightful nothings in each others ears.
Trusting the sincerity of a drunken mind.
Rapture in sleeping with you the first in a long time.
The next morning you left the taste of vinegar in a short, curt kiss.
So now several days pass and nothing not a hint of you anywhere.
I ask for closure you respond with the crux of the matter.
Hurtful this declarative statement of wanting to taste test more.
Almost more than I can bare. Though i did not mind being the mouth wash,
Removing the bitter taste of a day old tequila from your palate.
The aspirin for this hangover of past drunkenness.
Codependency in a relationship to this drink.
But that was not how I advertised myself.
You did not follow directions and warning labels.
More to the point, that was my lot in this sell in our path of life.
How we should meet, and offer coffers to one another.
Now I close this cask, and my cellar save what is left for another.
For I am not a lady who can stomach cheap beer and the after taste of malted hops.
To
be
or not-
crucial
crux of the matter.
Reality is a ***** of a mistress
everyday feels like a negotiation,
should be like a babbling brook
over silken-like pebbles instead of
sucking acrid marrow's gritty pith,
hardly expecting smooth sailing each
day nor Disneyland phantasmagoria,
but the crux of the matter is life's
so much shorter than expected,
every now and then it would
be nice to take a breath, have a
moment to smell sweet wildflowers,
perhaps a bubble bath whilst reading poetry
savoring the aroma of morning coffee,
time expressly for contemplation - -
yet, guess I shouldn't complain
considering the vast alternative,
caffeine breaks could be
laden midst silvery cloud covers...
The world is filled with good people
But sometimes they just lose their way
As newborns, we all start out the same
With the same joy for life and enthusiastic outlook
THEN we grow up and think to ourselves
“WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!
If I'd realized what the world would be like
I'd have yelled...
“ARE YOU NUTS... PUT ME BACK IN!”
Too late, guess I'll just have to make the best of it
So that's the crux of the matter, this whole thing called life
We can choose to grumble about
What we DON'T have, rather than appreciate we DO have
It's the down side of human nature it seems
I choose, and everyone else can
To live life to the fullest with a zest for the simple joys
I hear ya yelling, “GET BACK IN YOUR CAGE!”
No problem, I'm convinced an upbeat and happy attitude
Is what's got me through these eighty years
So when things seem like they can't get any worse
Remember, you can't be put back in
So try to be the best person you can be
And trust me, LIFE WILL BE A BLAST!

Have you heard all the science chatter
That the future is not made of matter
I don’t mean to detract
But as a matter of fact
That all they found is ‘doesn’t matter’
It’s a matter of life and death they said
But the crux of the matter, it’s all in their head
Coz the matter at hand
‘Doesn’t matter’ can’t stand
If its nothingness, then they’d all be dead
But as a matter of course they’ll leave truth behind
Due to the future that they think they’ll find
But when their theory splatters
They’ll ask ‘what’s the matter’
Which they’ll realize in a matter of time
I was told that it’s no laughing matter
And ‘doesn’t matter’, is not antimatter
Truth can’t be sacrificed
No matter how it’s sliced
Coz mind over matter is all that matters
Forgive me but I just don't understand
What drives “people” to enter a school
Massacre forty young people
And burn their female teacher alive
It's beyond my comprehension
How an intelligent caring human being
Can willingly commit this atrocity
There lies the crux of the matter
They are NOT “intelligent caring human beings”
They are EVIL MONSTERS... period!
They don't belong to the HUMAN race!
They are freaks of nature
An anomaly... deviates from normal human behavior
Who have a totally warped sense of right and wrong
The lunatic fringe... THAT MUST BE STOPPED
At all costs... this cannot continue
This is NOT a normal human condition
Civilized people can fathom the depth
That these sub-humans will go to
As with the absolute majority of peace loving individuals
I am appauled beyond belief
I would like to say I'm speechless
Which is obviously not the case... this site is a forum
To express our absolute and utter rage
When these deviants commit these atrocities
IT'S A TOTALLY DISGUSTING OUTRAGE!!!

The end is near
Though many do not fear
Only few keep watch
With his name they keep in touch
Some have eyes and do not see
Living in iniquity they believe is to be free
The wise keeps the word
To flee the sword
Crux of the matter is life or death
To keep clean or drown in dirt
Be free or be in chains
Eternal joy or forever pains
The choice is yours
As time lingers on
SERENITY RESPONSE
The winds of autumn blow
Creating change
The crux of the matter
Do I bend or do I break?
Willow knows the truth
She may weep besides waters deep
But she drinks in courage to face the future
And bends when winds do blow
And in her serenity - she survives
'She accepts the things she cannot change'

For Nette Onclaud’s- Serenity response
The Serenity prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference Amen
(A Note To Myself)
Can one possibly get too much love?
Sounds absurd to a hug famished soul!
But if filling your cup is your goal
And you’d rather not leave it to luck
You might want to just think something of
Why your heart doesn’t quack like a duck.
Yes, ducks walk and ducks talk but not hearts
But do you even know what heart does?
Besides give off cicada-like buzz
Every time that a cute girl is near
A reminder you’re lacking in arts,
That is making you thirsty for beer.
Though a heart that’s not full is a lack,
It’s not right to store girls on a shelf,
A convenience store stock for yourself
One to pop open when you get dry
Or to drive like a new cadillac
With your fly opened up to the sky
But the crux of the matter is this
If just quantity’s all that you seek
You will find that your heart springs a leak
As love’s flavor fades slowly from view
With the magic that’s found in a kiss,
But the loss that will hurt most is you.

The world is filled with good people
But sometimes they just lose their way
As newborns, we all start out the same
With the same joy for life and enthusiastic outlook
THEN we grow up and think to ourselves
“WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!
If I'd realized what the world would be like
I'd have yelled...
“ARE YOU NUTS... PUT ME BACK IN PLEASE!”
Is what's got me through these eighty-seven years
So when things seem like they can't get any worse
Remember, you can't be put back in
So try to be the best person you can be
And trust me, LIFE WILL BE A BLAST!
The crux of the matter, I'm handsome and slim
A fact of evolution, my smooth velvety skin
Gratefully unsurpassed
For this amazing bod I have
But I still have this loving feeling though it's slim
Today was not so bad,
Yesterday, pure horror;
Tomorrow, I cannot predict,
Yet in terror I live;
A touch so much I dread,
For suspicion is my daily bread;
Every word a leery undertone,
Every smile with hidden intent;
That such evil so very well hid,
Is the crux of the matter within;
Today the child you cheer to see,
Might tomorrow be wickedly despoiled;
Their trust so shamefully they do exploit,
The hurt of the child so well disguised;
For shame will none in truth reveal,
The truly vile deeds in secret are done;
A wish to live with nary a worry,
Truly, only if wishes were horses.
So today I beg your child do keep,
That tomorrow you'll have no cause to weep;
Today find time to teach and train,
That tomorrow you'll have no painful regrets;
For in plain view vile people abound,
To steal the sweet innocence of such a child;
To rape, and hurt, and trick and threaten,
for towards the child is their malevolent intent.
